FROLIC by Limelight Herb

Very excited for the new CU. I believe if you already own the device, @Dejan LimelightHerb mentioned something about getting them either for free or at a discount but please feel free to correct me.

I bought mine on VGoodiez so hopefully, if there is a discount system for the CU, it applies to vendors as well.

Also curious about the capsules. Sounds like the new CU will accept the S&B capsules while Limelight continues to develop theirs, along side other accessories.

I am running my Frolic at max temp 240c . I am getting good cloud and dark brownish AVB with some less dark on the top (Half open airflow). Is that the normal performance for max temp ? I would expect it to be near combustion or combusting at this temp. Just want to make sure it in line with what other have or if it need calibration.

Thanks!
Completely normal, I will perform and post some temperature tests for you all. Combustion via convection at these temperatures is virtually impossible because of the heat exchange process. This is what my earlier post was about (Which I deleted because I worded it weirdly, but I will back eventually with real world tests).

Nice! Will you also be releasing your own capsules with safe and performant materials (hard anodized aluminum, etc.)? Or is there a brand/model of third-party capsules that you would recommend?

EDIT: A funnel to make it easier to load the bowl without spilling herb all over the place would also be nice! Or a special little spoon made of PEEK or bamboo...
People here mostly said they prefer to use S&B capsules since most have them and they are available, hence the updated cooling unit (CU) part. We plan to release our own hard anodized capsules. Funnel and spoon noted. I was actually working on a PEEK spoon design with a tap tool.
Will the 10% reduction will be available when new batch comes in and/or when this concentrate insert is ready ?
The discount will end in a matter of days.

Silicone grease
Silicon grease because of its heat resistance and safety, also petrol gel but it lacks the heat resistance so would need to be applied more often.

Yes, this. I have the Dupont Molykote 111 which is food grade (NSF H1 certified).
This is what I use. Or rather should have, since some devices went out without being lubed, apologies.

Yes and yes. 2 weeks away max now.

What new CU? Why would we need that already? Just curious thanks!
Basically to use S&B capsules, nothing else.

Has anybody tried just placing on the bud a regular screen slightly bigger then the chamber ?(So it just stays a little tight on)
And how does it work if you've tried it?

Works for me (not with the frolic) from the thinnest layer just covering the bowl screen, to more of course.

Ive been doing this for a long time with a couple vapes, and really like it, i will occasionally try it without and i think i always am disappointed and i feel its much better on, i dont like a dosing pad or glass reducers though, i dont feel they work as good,
If im missing a bigger screen ill use 2 of even 3, i also like the neetnes and all the bud together closest to the heater, and not stuck up high to the stem screen or cu.

I've seen people mention it but rarely,
I always wondered why, though 1 i understand people dont like fiddling and diy there own suff and 2 to get it out you may need a sharp toothpick or honestly i often use a safety pin which im sure many dont prefer, but dejan does say with the frolic scrape scrape away at the bowl lets see if anyone can damage it, which even on its own thats pretty cool....or you can push one end of the screen and the other will often come/pop up

anyone paid with the Viva option? when I choose that option, it ends up charging me (autofilling the amount field before i put my card number) with 313,75 EUR instead of the 306,79 EUR listed on limelight's website. I can modify the amount but not sure if that would mess up the order in the end.
That's probably the current currency conversion factor. You are paying in BGN (?) and the exchange rate probably changes daily. Mine was off by a few (4? 5?) Euro as well. I would not change the amount, definitely not.

Thanks! I got a very quick email response from Limelight that same day and you are right, just had to make sure the price was right in BGN. Order has been made!

All right, I'm late to the party. My Frolic finally made it to Germany Saturday night, eight days after the shipping notification. Incidentally, I also had a very high end ball vape here to play around with over the weekend, so I ended up doing just a few test bowls until today.

What I can say is: WOW, I have *NEVER* had a vaporizer exceed even my wildest expectations by SO MUCH. I was hoping for a gentler, easier to control Tinymight. I got not only that, I got something that lets me do giant rips at 170C on demand with NO COUGH but huge flavor. Once the first terp rush has subsided, I can do the same at 185C. I've tried 170C with the Venty and it does not produce anything really enjoyable at that temperature. I generally start at 180C and then go to 195C, just like I do with the Venty.

When I went to try session mode I did not know what to expect after watching Austyn's stream. Guess what, it's AMAZING. I find session mode to be at least equally smooth as the Venty, I believe I can do bigger hits with less coughing, but I'll have to play a little more.

This thing has instantly become my favorite battery portable. It really feels like Venty and Tinymight had a baby. The bowl and cooling unit from S&B, the on demand/heater concept from Tinymight, but way more powerful.

So, here is a HUGE THANK YOU to @Dejan LimelightHerb - it's hard to believe this is your first attempt in this industry. Also, since you asked: I found no robot fart or other strange smells.

I would also like to point out that I am more than willing to pay for the new lower cooling unit part for the S&B caps. I've always used my S&B devices with caps and am currently using caps without the top. Don't want the cap to push down on the screen above the heater. So it works perfectly at home, but throwing in a new cap on the go is easier with the tops on. And yeah, I'll pay for that luxury.

Maybe everybody already knows this, maybe it's even in the manual. It was new to me,....

I discovered on demand session mode! We all know that to engage the heater in session mode, we click once.

Another single click turns the heater off, another single click reactivates. What a great way to mix session & on demand.

That's pretty cool.

Although here's what I've been finding out about how I use the Frolic lately... The on-demand mode is so fast and so powerful and the bowl doesn't retain heat very much (little conduction and radiant heat). Because of these two things, I'm not sure I'll use session mode much any more. I've been vaping my bowls like hitting a joint that doesn't continue burning when you put it down.

My sessions can still be 5min+ but I take a hit when I want to and the taste doesn't degrade much at all after each hit. I could maybe see myself using session mode more for concentrates where a constant background heat is desirable.

I actually got the Frolic for the on demand mode. For session mode, I have the Venty. Or so I thought. I just wanted to see if session mode really was as "bad" as Austyn made it appear. Turns out, I REALLY like it, it is more agreeable to my breathing apparatus than Venty. Did not think that would be possible.

On one of my session mode bowls, I noticed the heat was off. Since I was sure the timer hadn't run out, I assumed that I may have accidentally hit the button. Tried it, and confirmed the "new feature". I've used it for several "sessions" since and find it works fine when I don't want to be pushing for every hit, but don't want to do a complete "session".

OK, @Dejan LimelightHerb, a (very) minor quibble: I found that the battery bar drops fairly quickly. All of a sudden, it was down to one segment. So I wanted to see numbers, put the battery in my external charger and it said 49%. Maybe the battery display could be fine tuned for the next release.

Dirty negative contact on the battery or dirty bottom of the battery cap. We actually applied another type of stickers first which left some residue then cleaned it and applied the current stickers, but yours might not have been cleaned well, please check and sorry.

Or battery cap not tight.

So my venty 13months old broken down two weeks ago, Classic E04 error, Ive claimed refund as the warranty does not work in Australia anymore, got my money back today and ordered a Frolic straight away.
Thumbs up for modular construction and sourcing of the pieces.
Btw I've searched a tear down for the venty on YouTube and managed to open it and discover that the problem was bad contact between the mainboard and the oven connector, managed to put some 3m tape and it's working for the time being.
God works on mysterious way my birthday is the last day of this month who knows may my gift get here on time 🥳.
I didn't even see it and Im f stoked
