hello, can someone help me out? i’m trying to unscrew to change the cap airflow but im literally stripping it, just won’t budge. tried both directions just in case, went left to right first ofc
Are you using an actual screwdriver with a handle? If not find a jeweler screwdriver set first and try that. It will loosen counterclockwise.

If that does not help, try heating the tip. The heat may expand the hole enough to break it loose.

Thats really nutty. Ive never had a problem changing balls on the V1. Sure the first ball swap was i was thinking "I hope I dont fuck this up!" The whole time.

Failure definitely was an option that day, lol. Ive tried using the tool that comes in the V1 leather case to unscrew the ball retaining screen on the V2. I messed around for 30 minutes yesterday and the day before trying to unscrew it, unsuccessfully.

The only thing I was successful in was chipping the outer coating on the MH tool. Lol. It was starting to flake off into the V2 head and I thought to myself, yeah, better grab a small flat head for this.
I dont want to vape on metal flakes as well as break a retaining screen and MH tool.
I've given it everything I got, but it would only turn maybe a quarter turn, if that, before the tool would slip out of the ball retaining screen and chip off more metal from the tool. I made sure to give the balls a good smack to make sure the balls were out of the way. No dice.

Im going to attempt to hunt down to correct tool for the job today. If not, order one because I cant stand the V2 looking at me like, thats all you got?? HAH!
My V2 feels like its in the The Sword In The Stone and the ball retaining screen is the sword.
From my experience, I could remove ball retaining screen the moment I removed the back screw (the one getting the housing together).
It had too much pressure on the balls, removing the back screw helped quite a lot ;)

did it work for you from the very first time? i thought i saw in this thread that maybe folks need to use a real screwdriver until it breaks in a little?
I used the one in the reload and it worked perfectly. I have no use for another decapper. I don't collect duff and I grind on demand.

But after using the Reload to change out the thermal material in my Tempest V2, I think it is absolutely required. The screwdriver was great and the hole it leaves when you remove it lines up perfectly as a ball funnel. The other chambers keep track of the other balls. It's amazing! Like all great tools, it made an easy job easy and a hard job possible.

Yes it did. I think it helps the end of the reload tool is a little sticky, so it holds the screen nicely.

@Grass Yes Using the reload as a funnel is an ingenious idea! I'm going to try that next time thank you.

Rubies, half bowl, cap open, stem closed. Course BCG grind, decently packed in. I find course grind does well with a good pack in this beast. Definitely riding the line here. I typically do not go back in for that second dip, but it goes to show you can go pretty far before it combusts. Every hit is flavor town. Even the last little wispy hits were not burnt tasting.

May I ask you what thermal materials you experienced and what's your favorite thermal profile for the tempest V2 ?

Radwin Bodnic,
@BearFuur Have you tried using the screwdriver / debowler tool that comes in the Reload 2? I find that works perfectly for doing the ball screen.
Lol, skill warning, take your AVB out of the reload chamber before attempting this. It does work great, you'll just have balls in your AVB.

EDIT: Oh shit, that little guy unscrews right out of there!! Never noticed that before. Lol, stoners.

I haven't made up my mind yet. I expected to stick with the zirconia balls because I like the boro best with my TA. But so far the rubies seem to be possibly an improvement.

I only use the torch and I am not finding the click discs to be a good indicator, but the VI seems better for me, especially with rubies.

However I've only run 2-3 sessions with the rubies so I don't feel comfortable saying it's a slam dunk as an improvement.

Schrödinger's rat!
One of my T1s is collecting dust because I cannot get that ball screen back in, no matter how many tutorials I watch.
Have you tried refitting it with no ball's in the cap as a test? It'll rule out any kind of internal obstruction leaving you with the problem being the screen or the thread, as there's not much more involved I think. If it works ok then the most likely thought is there were too many ball's and they were obstructing the screen?

😂

Reload V3 will include a coffee maker and miniature TV set!

I had to use a real screwdriver and a bit of force. I ended up mangling my ball retaining screen, but I had an extra so all good. Not sure why there has been some of us with issues and others not. I went over the threads with a nylon brush once I got it out incase something was causing it to stick. I have been able to install/uninstall the screen once I got the original off, so just chalked it up to manufacturing tolerances of a new product. Good luck!

@Duba - I am very satisfied with the leather accessories I got for my Tempests and gear. If I understood correctly, labetkomp is yours - thanks!
I keep browsing the webshop page for new stuff to appear and then it hit me, maybe I should ask directly if there are any new products planned or if you do custom orders for whatever device?

I would very much like to equip the rest of my gear in your fine leather. I wanna know if you do that kind of stuff and if some custom orders could be placed for my tempest/grinder/reload/wand etc :)
I am not in a hurry and understand the summer period is wild so there is no rush for design/ordering/delivery.
Let me know if you would be interested and how to proceed if you are :)

Apologies for the off-topic post, couldn't really find a proper thread for this, and it kinda is related to Tempests :)

Wondering if someone could give me a comparison between the Tempest 2 and a dynavap THC cap? I've currently got a number of different devices and I'm really enjoying my Titanium Vong with the hyperdyn tip and THC cap. Works well and my curiosity is now causing me to want another manual vape and I'm waiting on the Tempest becoming available again.

Hi, I have the Hyperdyn kit, and the Tempest V1and Ti V2.

The Tempest is by far the best device, with top level materials, build, design, customer service, extraction efficiency and cleaning too.

Bought to test it, I found the Hyper to be poorly machined, materials are seemingly not of high grade and generally does not hit as well as any Tempest. I loaned it out a few weeks ago to a Dyna fan.

The difference is chalk and cheese.

I am a satisfied customer, there are many, read back in this thread. 8)

I never got on with the Dynavaps personally. I've tried quite a few and I've sold them all since getting my tempest 2. All I have now is a T1 and T2. They are miles ahead of the Dynavaps in my opinion, it's not even a close comparison.

For me, the Dynavaps are too tight on the airflow and I tried many different caps and tips, even the perforated one they sell, and nothing fixed the issues. But I was a heavy smoker before, so take my opinion with a grain of salt because I've been looking for a device to replace joints, and the Dynavaps (and other devices I've bought and tried) just never came close to scratching that itch.
