it's a stash jar/flower container. it is made by an artisan in a local museum that exhibits some houses and farming from the 15th to the 18th century. he makes wooden stuff with the same tools they used in these times. all by hand and all with lots of passion. perfect match for the toad and the vapman. he also made this little brush.

As for the box, it could be a custom order, but I think Hagbard likes to collect items from flea markets...

It’s well established that Dan lives in a pocket universe (commonly known as “rural Canada”) where time moves twice as fast as ours, making 1.5 years effectively three.

Scientists have theorized that this is due to a combination of solar radiation, the obliquity of the elliptic, and Canadian lager. A perfect storm, eh?

Anybody have trouble using their toad after not using it for a while? I thought my batteries were dead but after picking up a new batch and charger still cannot get my little Toad working again. Already cleaned all the metal surfaces with an eraser and kinda at a loss. I reckon it must be something with the button not connecting all the way but not entirely sure.

Hi !

Dan found something much better than an eraser for removing patina.
You can search for "Beadsmith Shine Rite" online.
I've been using it for 3 years with great ease and success.

Generally, it solves my problem 9 times out of 10.

Regarding the button...
You can indeed take it apart to check... for dirt.

If you clean it, you'll need a little petroleum jelly to reinstall it the way Dan originally installed it.

Also, for cleaning, have you unscrewed the metal plate that makes contact with the bottom plate of the Toad?
If so, and you tightened it too much, or not enough, the contact could be poor. I don't have this problem much on my Toads, but rather on my Nomads (which are built differently in this respect)... but it's a clue...

And on a practical level... how long do you preheat? With what heating? Maybe you can add a second or two to see if you get better results...

That's a first step...

pretty stressful day. now getting ready for a chilled evening

dan is a magician absolutely no doubt... not only the devices are proof but he sent a package on 24th of june with standard service. no express. and it just showed up today. travelled over 6000km in 3 days! holy cow

I don't know exactly why Hagbard ordered heaters...
but generally speaking, heaters don't need to be replaced regularly...

Personally, I'm waiting for several heaters for upgrades...
I had Nomads with old original heaters...
Indeed, for these Nomads, the heaters were often warped, meaning the coils had shifted and were touching in several places, which resulted in uneven and often too rapid heating.

But I suppose that if you buy a Toad tomorrow, and use it normally (avoiding too much overheating, I imagine), you won't need to replace it for a very long time...

The heater on my Toad #22, which is a little over 3 years old, is still in excellent condition!!!

Thank you for the explanation! Now that you mention it, I remember way back on Dan's IG he mentioned changing the heater design a bit. I'm in an upcoming batch of toads and was wondering if i needed to order an extra heater (besides 1 each high and low).

there is one single word: replacement. i want my Toad to last for a lifetime. and if i never ever need a heater i don't wanna wait or maybe don't have a chance to get one or or or... there is a bit of my OCD kicking in when i have some vaporizer that i want to have with me forever i 100% make sure i will ALWAYS have what i need to keep them going. and it feels good to have some heaters aside so i never have to worry if one fails.

I feel this 100%. There are "favorite" vapes in my collection that I plan on using a long time where I have a bit too many extra parts "just in case". I think I'm going to add some extra heaters when the toad is ready to ship.

Yeah I would say you don't necessarily even need one high and one low, depending on your usage, when you are learning from scratch anyway, I think just the high could be easier because it will be faster, so you're holding down the button less... (not to mention battery life and power differential) However if you like to hold the button down longer and have longer hits that are more forgiving, you might like the low heater, though in my own experience trying to use the low heater, that is the one I scorched with, so my style of use is better with the high heater I think and less time on the button so that is what I got with my toad from the second batch way back when, but I was using it last with my old original nomad low heater (I sold it with the high heater and kept that low heater so I had the variety) to compare, so I do think there is an argument for both! And yeah some people have their own reasons for spares... For my use it wouldn't make sense, but aftermarket stems and the incredible case are must-haves to me... Originally Dan was saying how the heater could be fully modular and maybe have conduction modules or dab modules etc... Someday maybe that will be reality??

Yes, there have been several iterations of heaters...
low and high.
Then a medium, which I believe became the new high.

I have heaters from all eras, and the most recent ones are the "smoother"/most consistent.
But honestly, there isn't much difference.

Anyway... in my opinion, you don't need three heaters! But I understand the idea of having at least one replacement, obviously...

If you have a high and a low... you have a long time before they deteriorate... even more if you alternate... and you're careful with your equipment!

If you have a few extra dollars to invest... a purchase that would be worth it, in my opinion, is an extra button. It's just for aesthetics, but it can completely change the look of your device... a bit like having two...
I did it with my first Toad and I don't regret it!! I switch it up from time to time!

I don't remember if they're in Canadian or American dollars... I think they're Canadian dollars, but I don't want to give anyone false hope.

Also, for anyone interested, you'll have to check if Dan has maintained these prices or if he's changed them since then!!
