This was always in Project 2025. No one should be surprised the Republicans are doing this

I’m a firm believer in “where there’s a will there’s a way”. If either the manufacturer, dispensary, or the state actually cared, this would be addressed. States do mandate electronics recycling fees when you buy tablets, laptops or a myriad other electronics.

* A $1 fee on every disposable would generate a whole lot of revenue that could be used to fund a sensible program.

* a $3 deposit would be even more efficient. Our glass milk bottles charge this, and we, without fail, return them for cash.

Edit: this was in response to the disposable cart topic on the previous page. Forgot to add the quote!

In all fairness, harm reduction is intended to _augment_ other programs aimed at 1) rehabilitation, 2) mental health and 3) constraining supply. Without effective implementation of 1-3, harm reduction has shown to just enable consumption in cities like San Francisco. I suspect that's the intention behind the initiative. Not supporting or justifying it, but sharing a perspective from someone who has seen lives unnecessarily lost to opiate use first hand.

No. They enable SAFE consumption. No addict is going to say, "well there's no safe injection site so I guess I'll just quit now!"

There's a reason actual experts in this field are horrified by the Admin's move.

Ok well the dumbfucks in charge aren't doing 1, 2, or 3. So now what.

Just look at his stance on Tik-Tok. he was SOOO against it until he got paid. The evidence is irrefutable

Not sure I’m equipped to have a productive discussion against “opioid addiction is part of society, and we must support everyone who chooses that path”.

I was merely stating that I see what this guy is trying to do and I think the soundbite will unfortunately resonate with his voter base. The best I can wish for is that as a result, lesser-than-dumbfucks to show up and do their jobs on 1-3. But thats not about to happen before pockets get stuffed.

I respectfully bow out.

That's ok because I'm not really in the mood to have a discussion with someone whose attitude is, "just let all those junkies die" on a forum about drug consumption of all places. So I'll just point out that it's pretty hard to get people mental healthcare and rehabilitation when they're fucking dead.

Edit: @absolutk I just saw your edit. Apologies for jumping down your throat. In my opinion, it's better to at least give people suffering with addiction a chance at living long enough to get clean. I agree that it's sad we don't properly fund mental healthcare in this country:peace:

For once I agree with the local Canadian Trumpist. I don't care if Jeffrey Epstein's best friend legalizes. Genocide Joe is a fucking moron for leaving it on the table for him.
