IMHO they asked your address in order to send you a new unit.
If for whatever reason you don't want to share personal informations with them, send them your nearest collection point address and see what happens. If you don't want to share your name, try with a company name if you have one availabe from a friend.
A new unit is the only thing you will get from them, provided you don't piss'em off. IMHO there's no proof offgassing didn't start AFTER you dismantled your unit. Dismantling a unit voids your warranty pertty much with any device. Wether your warranty is already expired or not, if you want to make them aware of manufacturing issues IMHO you should have registered your video and got in contact with the manufacturer to send the unit in for inspection, without opening it yourself.
Telling you "good luck with your endeavour" may appear rude but you didn't play by the rules as well IMHO.
Communications wasn't great from them but there were mistakes made by both of you.
That said, it's great to be able to share info on malfunctioning device and I thank you for taking the time to post here.

Me neither. I provided 3 viable options to be contacted and am told, "No problems...good luck with your endeavors."

That raises the question if they ever even looked at it like they stated, is another story and left for interpretation of the reader.

What I did was criticize the fact that I did try to provide a constructive solution to the request, and it was answered in this way. Surely it's strange to be asked to provide your name, phone number, and email. What else, social security number and address? And even if, privacy concerns are a legitimate objection, a rep should be able to handle this actively, not respond in this way.

The new information was that I was approached via PM, which I simply documented here transparently, shared my opinion, and that's it. This is simply constructively documenting the proceedings, as mentioned in the rules you outlined.

Please clarify if I misunderstand. After all, I am looking for a response from the manufacturer, as I am concerned about my health due to the offgassing of possibly toxic vapors caused by this device.
When ALL you present is an adversarial attitude, how many polite replies do you expect?? Asking you for contact information is not a demand, it's common business practice. Seems you need an attitude adjustment!
