But concerned because I can barely 1HE a full tornado bowl on my orb. The full stainless (not sure what color that heat shield is listed as?) stem looks great. But is it functional?

After some more time with the non XL stem, I've been enjoying it a lot. I no longer regret getting the standard length stem. I'm finding it to not be too much hotter than the Thermocore Anvil / XL bowl depending on how it's heated. It is of course much warmer to use natively than it is to use on glass with the WPA, but the stem works as a WPA also.

I haven't had any problems with them every time I've had to contact them (which is rare with their high-quality products). It's probably an oversight or a handling error, which happens. They said they'd send me a replacement spiral, so no worries.

Mine just came with one, it used to be with the anvil it came with one in the body and one in the xl mouthpiece. Although I actually got a free pack of spirals because the free shipping code wasn't working and I asked really nicely. Honestly, I have had good experiences when I needed support.

I literally told them tonight that they get some bad stuff posted about their service but that I was going to start replying when I saw that because I've always had a good experience. My order that was supposed to ship in June is already good to go next week (except that strike) a they communicated great and got back to me quickly when I wrote them. So far they've been good.

Looks like they may have made CS somewhat more of a priority. I was able to get my July preorder in / confirmed, thanks to a speedy reply from their email support addy. Since I'd bitch about 'no reply' (which they have been guilty of), they get kudos from me on this. :tup:

Unfortunately, I find out after the order that the orders are now defaulting to 'Courier' in the USA (spent 20min trying to work around it, as it adds $35 to the order). And it's because of the anticipated Canada Post strike. (IOW, probably shoulda been more patient)

2nd gear purchase in as many days. VAS (with the 'V' for Vestratto?) has a serious grip on me right now :doh: :lol:

(PS: If you've been waiting... 14mm is still in stock for July preorder. 18mm's are sold out.)

Yep. Past history proved this, when I was shopping Anvil a year or so ago. At the time, I found them in one other place online, and they were sold out there. Given that, I figured it'd be a long, long wait for 3rd party to have these, and I ordered up.

(on edit: actually, I remember them becoming available shortly after, so... shoulda waited then, too.)

Now watch me be out of town when whichever courier shows up with the package (although it'll probably be late June, based on the earlier preorders now shipping). Maybe they'll send us an update email? Fingers crossed 🤞

My June pre-order arrived yesterday. I received an email on Sunday with three options for shipping as I'd initially chosen free standard: ship standard and pray it leaves Canada in time, hold off until the strike is over, or upgrade to DHL for $35. I opted for DHL, and what a luxury -- USPS could learn a thing or three. Yeah paying more sucks but if you always opt for free USPS or UPS Ground Advantage it's a real treat.

Still not sure how I managed to get so lucky. I missed the preorder window by a country mile but kept refreshing the page every morning just in case. Didn't hesitate when it was in stock one day, and it went out of stock immediately after ordering.

Wand works great at 525*F + DV adapter, but I can't seem to get my Wand to heat it from the back. OHEs are easy with .1ish and now I want to do what everyone says not to do and max that .3 chamber :evil: Haven't been chasing flavor but I'm sure there's some to be had. I undercooked a bowl or two and think a good balance could be achieved. Found that deep brown, full extraction consistency soon after.

Overall, very pleased with the product and customer experience (no delays or issues, proactive comms, multiple shipping options in the face of an uncontrollable event).

I know there was talk recently about the Tornado not fitting Wands and how it seemed to be the newer ones that didn’t fit the Tornado. Just wanted to add another bullet point; my Wand was bought from Dynavap last year and did not fit the Tornado. Just bought another Wand for my GF to use this 4/20, from Dynavap again, and the Tornado fits without issue, with a little wiggle room to spare.

So I don’t think it’s an old vs new kinda thing. It seems completely random.

Same thing with me. My first wand I could not drop the Anvil thru the top past the battery. The Tornado was way to big.
Bought a second wand a couple of months ago and I have all the room in the world to insert thru the top.
I have yet to use it...just like rocking a torch to much!!!
