Is the new adapter/stand only for the v2?
No, and it should be available during the early release this month.

Will there be anymore version 1's made? Or available for sale soon? They seem to be sold out.
No
Does this mean that the V2 will be able to use more of a conduction assist in its extraction?
Kind of, but not exactly. The goal was a more even, full-bowl extraction and a quicker ‘start’ with less chance of combustion or charring. The signature won’t be more conduction-based through the bowl because it won’t reach those temperatures without drawing hot air through it. However, the base temperature after heating has increased by nearly 50%, and it won’t cool down as quickly between draws.

Yeah sign me up for V2, be impressed if it looks as cool as v1, the blurred V2 image certainly seems a bit chunkier, less streamlined. but very interested to try out any improvements. And if no more v1s being made they are bound to increase in value so might sell one eventually ;-)

I’m looking to step up my heating device. I’m heating the tornado as well as the tempest. Is there a consensus on the preferred heating device? Folks over in the tornado thread seemed very adamant that faster heating = better experience.

Is that sentiment shared for the tempest? Trying to figure out if I should be sourcing a premium torch or keeping an eye out for an inductor sale for 4/20.

Edit: currently using wand as my only heating method

They are 2 different systems.

To accelerate the heat up of the tempest you can use smaller balls or glass balls. But the balls needs to get hot. The faster isn’t always the better. If you heat up the tempest too fast, maybe the balls dont get hot enough. This can happen if you use the inductor with a high voltage, since you are heating the metal with a extremely power induction device, but the balls didnt have time to heat up.

I would tell you to get a 10-15€/$ triple torch and the wand (or wait to see if the uncoming IH works great with the tempest). With the wand it can take 35-45 seconds, but it is comfortable as hell and a no-brainer.

I should have mentioned, using the wand currently as my only heating method. Works great, super convenient. But a lot of folks in the tornado thread insisting on better performance on that device with higher output heating devices had me curious.

Well this is different. I dont want to compare (and it is not allowed) so I will just say this: The tornado is a hybrid device, and for what i read, more conduction than convection. The faster you heat it outside, the more convection that slowly turns into conduction you have. Like the fusion.

In the tempest a slow heating can make the chamber get hotter, but, unless you heat it near the chamber, it won’t be too much. A faster heating, if the balls are well heated, is just a fast heating.
Is it good to be ready in ~25 secs with the inductor or the forge instead the 35-40 secs on the wand or 40-50 on the flare? Yes. Worth it for that prices? Not if you are not planning to heat a lot of devices which needs one of that IH’s.

I would suggest you to keep your wand and a wait to see if the next IH is better or more comfortable with the tempest than the wand.

Other thing would be to want a desktop ih

The Tempest works brilliantly in the wand. The Tornado works terribly in the wand imo, as it cooks off the herb. I'll send you the pics form the experiment I did with it.

Induction heats any reactive metal that is in the activation zone. The Tornado's bowl is surrounded by the heat battery. So the slow induction cooks the herb before you get a chance to draw on it, lowering the potency a lot.

The Tempest does not have that problem. Once the balls are heated, the herb chamber is well isolated from the heat. It's almost pure convection. So it needs you to draw heat from the balls, over the herb using your draw.

I'm not slagging the Tornado, I think it's great. But portable induction heating is not one of it's strong points imo.

I agree. I can definitely see plenty of vapor before the timer finishes. And I think I saw others saying they had good results from high output kitchen torches.

Thanks for sending the comparison. I’ll have a look at that shortly.

I have been saying for a while that I will not buy another butane vape after falling in love with my ebony Tempest

I guess that is out of the window now. Roll on T2 judgment day 😎

Will there be a new wooden stem design for T2?
The V2 seems to be going for the modular heat shield design. So I expect to see plenty of Artisan third party heat shields released eventually as well. Brenyo mentioned a few pages back I think that he would supply wooden heat shields as well at some point.

I like the extra chunkiness of the V2 stem. It will feel nice in the hand. I think it will also suit Tornado and CXL heads more due to matching their bulk aesthetically.

Roughly the same number of balls by gram weight, as they’ll be 3mm this time. However, the induction sleeve is 3x thicker, which makes a significant difference with both torch and IH. The bowl will be able to run hotter and maintain its temperature better thanks to the redesign there as well.

Will the 3x thicker v2 induction sleeve be compatible with the v1 Tempest head?

Hey @Brenyo is the inner decapper of the reload lid having to change to suit the wider head, or will the current one still fit the new head?
The current one works if i´m not wrong (talking about the inner decapper).

It is very comfortable and it retains less material. For the tempest, CXL, hyperdyn or anvil. Also, as you said, everyone can order an artisan shield, since it will be easier to make than the v1.

Will the 3x thicker v2 induction sleeve be compatible with the v1 Tempest head?
Well, I think yes. But here @Brenyo have to confirm it.

Just got the tempest head. Its a deep purple with some orange hits. Can anyone confirm if I have a full unit? Im under the impression I might need to buy a kit in a couple months ?

Looks like you don't have a visual indicator. So yeah get the kit when it releases. They are usually quite cheap.

If you have a Wand you will be able to get by with just finding the right setting on the wand or by timing the heating. Or learning how many seconds past the click you like it.

Cool, thanks, I knew the current decapper was a bit bigger than the current tempest head.
Is it a neat fit or is there still a bit of wriggle room, it's sometimes fiddly seating it with gloves as it is.

The V2 is slightly shorter, but the upgrade kit will include the correct size thicker sleeve and updated indicator housing.

There’s still plenty of wiggle room

Honestly with the tempest and the wand I've been turning the temp down a little to get some good flavour, depending on the flower, between 495°f to 515°f usually 515 but if I'm not bothered or don't want as much flavour I step it up to Lees recommend 525°F and that does seem to work the best but still get well dense and milky clouds on those lower temps.
