Tinymight 2 vs Firewood 8

Anyone with both a fw8 and a tm2? Just curious how these two devices compare. I have neither of their old models, and really like the way the firewood looks. I also think it looks a little sturdier than the tinymight, which is a plus as I'd like to take it in my pocket out and about.

I'm sure they are both amazing devices, but since my group G is looking to be a ways out still, I just figured I'd see if anyone has any firsthand experience with both :)

I could have but decided to keep waiting on the FW8 to be able to pay digitally and potentially get one entirely in cherry wood like the heater... The TM2 is extremely sturdy, just got mine, really great fit and finish, polished evolution from the original. The differences are pretty apparent, large steel heater with glass stem chamber vapor path vs steel heater around removable ceramic oven chambers with ceramic right angle and glass stem vapor path... They are still unique experiences though both are extremely capable, but TM more versatile?

Have to say I am really enjoying my TM2 and surprised how fast and even the extraction is. Never had the OG but I know improvements have been made. Want to spend a lot more time with it and get to know it very well. Waiting on a custom stem and mouthpiece to finish it off, but think it’s a slugger for how small it is (genuinely surprised) and on-demand mode is awesome and the only way I use it.

Using the v2 dosing capsules until my aforementioned custom stem is in hand and at around 5.5-6 I fully extract with probably 3 draws. Amazing.

It's been a few months now and I'm also curious if anyone has actually owned both a FW8 and a TM2 and can do some comparisons. There are plenty of TM2 owners but only a handful of FW8 owners.

I'm going to pick up the FW8 soon in the near future and can do more of a deep dive comparison over here for you then

TM2 seems like the answer here. More attainable that's for sure.

I purchased my tm after failing to get either a fw or tp80 in 2021, a year later I passed on the fw8, because of the pots & battery pack, didn't see anything that "caught my eye" in yesterday's tp80 drop, been very happy with my tm, cheers!

Happy to hear that my unit will get repaired in the US by VGoodiez. Should take much less time than going to Finland.

Unless I am missing something, there really isn't a good way to view that lower glass sleeve that fits over the heater. It sits below the chamber holding the upper glass sleeve, which can't be removed without removing both screws and the top plate. I was concerned that both sleeves might be cracked, but anyone who has dropped their TM2 could have a cracked lower sleeve and never know it. A bit of a design flaw, yet I appreciate the all glass air pathway. Sounds like the only way to have the new Zirconia sleeve is to have the updated heater design which currently only exists in the PH units.

If and when a TM3 comes out, this unit will become my back-up. For now, it's a daily sipper.
I'm freezing my ass out there, trying to warm up a FW9 and go through a conduction sesh in 0 degree weather.

May I ask you how do you compare the TM2 to the FW9? I’m thinking about getting the FW X, but not sure it would be worth it given I already have the TM2.

I’m not the OP, but those are my current top two. If you like that really strong one hit extractions that a good hit on a manual vape can give you, you’ll love the FW9 (and hopefully the FWx). I can get that same fantastic flavor with much less chance of combustion. But there is a technique, and a couple quirks you need to get used to, and I suspect some of those vary device to device. This is a, I think, hand made artisan device constructed from a natural but somewhat unstable material. Each device has it’s own character.

TM2 is much more refined and polished. Yes, it can kick your ass, but it want’s to make sure you enjoy it two. Enough technique to feel like you mastered something, but simple enough you can master it stoned. I wouldn’t trade my TM2 for a FW9, but so long as I can afford it, I want both in my bag. They are different experiences for different moods.

Also, for some reason, I’m a lot more comfortable dropping the FW9 in my pocket as I head out that I am the TM2. Don’t read a lot into that though because it’s usually the Lobo in my pocket when I go out. It won’t hurt as much if I lose it.
