Angus and Mighty comparison

Does it work with the S&B dosing capsules? (I already have a ton of those.)

I got a Crafty+ at the start of the pandemic and the micro-usb port is falling apart. The Angus looks like a fantastic replacement! I'd want not just the main unit but also the water pipe adapter and at least a dozen capsules to start (and a spare mouthpiece), but it seems out of stock.

Should become available this week at retailers world wide. Assuming you're in US @VGOODIEZ got you.

i love glass. i love glass heaters. like the good ole venus heli...os...wait... the Angus is like the venus but unbreakable? that's a genius idea! because i think ppl like TM>Venus because it's less breakable... anyway... glass is so great for portables if the battery capacity is fine enough....

I have both. If you have questions please open a thread in ask FC, and I'll answer as good as I can :)
Hey, so does the angus give as satisfying of a session as the mighty? The mighty always gave me very fulfilling hits for the whole session and my concern is that the angus will be like the arizer where the vapor quality peaks for hits 2-3 then drops off until the bowl is done.

From memory, better. And without comparing I find Angus gives satisfying sessions. All first users have praised it for flavor, and at least I wasn't talking about just the first few hits ;)

I think Angus hits remain satisfying for longer than about anything I own for flavors and effects.

And others in Angus thread have said similar

They will have them available on Tuesday:
Is there an abbreviated Code ? W H a a ah h. Have to wait till Tuesday-VAS Doctor please! Just Kidding around.
Hoping the Angus will satisfy-what I expect from it and have seen in video.

For my Mighty I bought a Stainless Cooling unit to “ even-up “ my personal comparison when the ANGUS arrives. Cheers !

Read this whole thread. I usually use my Mighty at 330 for most of the session. Sometime finish in my off at 360 or maybe 390 less frequently. Im not generally concerned about ‘wasting’ bud, but I do really like the Mighy for about 3 or 4 Minutes at 330 tastes great and puts out enough cool vapor for me. Only thing I’m worried about the Angus is the 356(?) starting temp. At 356 on the Mighty I really don’t enjoy the flavor all that much and it doesn’t last very long IMO. So can anyone compare the Angus to low temping on the Mighty.

Haven't used mighty in a while but used to run it starting between 175-185. Angus performs great at low temps. Great flavor and flavor retention, from memory mighty wasn't on that level and I even prefer Angus flavor over my MiniVAP's. If I could only use the two lowest temp settings I would still use it.

I'm getting one of these because I can't not. I'm a flavor chaser, and I'm always on the lookout for the best option for that. However, I'm trying to conceptualize WHY a halogen element would be any better than anything else at stretching out terpy hits. As terps vaporizer at lower temps than other cannabinoids, I see why low temperature gets purer, more flavorful hits. But what scientific or rational explanation do we have for why one method of providing heat provides more numerous flavorful hits than any other? I just can't convince myself that's reasonable. Help! 🙂

well here's my theory. when you have a conduction vape, the herb is theoretically the temp of the hot oven it's touching. this means that the herb is already decarbed some by the time you hit it. with convection, the herb is theoretically starting at room temp and rapidly being brought to temp by being blasted it with hot air during the hit. this way, you get a hit with the herb being fresh in the bowl before the hot air vaporizes the cannabanoids, along with most of the terps. now, with radiation heating, i theorize that the herb becomes warmed prior to the hit, but not enough to actually evaporate terps like a conduction oven would during its preheat time. rather, it "primes" the herb and maybe melts the cannabanoids and terpenes, allowing the herb to absorb them some like a towel. after this. "priming," when the convection stream passes over the herb, the warmed terps evaporate very quickly before their able to burn off at all, whereas a room temp start would make this process last longer, allowing some terps to burn off. the soaking in of terps during that prewarming process may be an explaination of the longer lasting flavor as well. but idk man. until someone measures my hypotheses, tis naught but bro science.

I like it. All science starts with hypotheses, so that's a great start. I hadn't considered the possibility of heat harming (or burning off) terps before, but that could be the case. 👍

But what about different engines for convection, coil vs halogen. If they are both heating through convection why does bulb taste better?

Yeah, I’ve seen this posted and didn’t want to get into an opinion based debate. Show me the science that proves a halogen bulb gives off a different heating signature then a SS coil like the one in a Tinymight? I think some expectation bias or placebo, are the basis for these unscientific claims. In the end a hot bulb is just another heat source, it may have other advantages, but time will tell. Show me the science….

This new device might be great, but I personally have enough high end devices for now. These days I wait a long time before jumping in, and rely on the early adopters for reviews, then I wait even longer, for all the potential negative feedback, that can only come after months. Look at the Taffi Bowl thread, it was hailed as the greatest new thing, now over a year later, its downsides have been clearly documented. Unless one is just starting out, and have no devices, I try to wait for a V2 version. For example, I spent a decent amount on the V1 Revolve stem, months later, the V2 was announced, solving most of the issues with the one I have, welcome to the world of being an early adopter, or free beta tester. Some you win, and some you learn with your money!

Sage advice. I'm new to vaping (smoked 3 decades ago), and I'm astounded at the devices I've tried and how much better all around vaping is over smoking (for me and my lifestyle). I know this forum pushes the primary market, and I appreciate that... Were there no enthusiastic buyers, there would be little incentive to create and progress in terms of pushing development. But it is only the availability of the secondary market, where I can sell the ones that don't fit my particular style, that allows me to continue to be in the market for new devices. Even though I have sunk more dollars into these devices than I probably should have, I'm thankful that I get to experiment and find the ones that best fit my style and wants/needs. Glad I found FC. 👍

all we can say for certain is that there are 3 types of heat in the universe and different amounts of each one will cause a slight difference in how the heat interacts with the herb. that is unarguable.

a slightly more subjective but still very observable thing is that vapes taste different with the same herb. some taste better while others seem to burn off the flavor. and some have a really bad taste when the bowl is spent while others (like the vapman) are sweeter at the end, maintaining a good flavor. the idea that affects change slightly from vape to vape is also subjective but noticeable depending on which vapes you're comparing.

the way different heat sources actually affect the flavor and potency is just speculation though. but at the very least, the flavor differences are detectable even by the least discerning palettes in my circle so there's something to be said for that.

That's the facts of it. Nobody is vaping in a vacuum each devices "signature" is just how the 3 types of heat work together.

This was my hang up with it honestly, it's a battery device creating light. I want heat from my portable vape. I'm just curious why halogen was chosen
