oh bad luck w that. I was going to mention i bought a flask as well but what i am trying to do is upgrade a Terpcicle. They do Lab glass so its a fun site to look at their stuff and how it may be used.Another downside to the DIY tabletop bong. It appears I was putting too much pressure on the glass flask from the top of the wood frame. I noticed a little water at the base, and when I disassembled the frame, I noticed the bottom of the glass is cracked! Guess I'm buying a new flask (third one) and using some washers to put less pressure on the glass. :-(
Thanks. I actually started with a flask holder, and progressed to the sticky pad. I prefer the look of the bong with just the sticky pad, but if it breaks the glass, no bueno. Once the replacement comes I’ll evaluate the rig with some washers to relieve the pressure on the glass.

yep, the cracks are where it sits on the sticky dot. The pressure from the wood frame was a little too much. I added a washer on the inside in each of the posts to relieve the pressure. my failures (lessons learned?) are more evidence Lee has done a great job balancing all the factors needs to produce a quality product.
I think I know what happened. This could happen to anyone that replaces their downstem. I think the downstem I was using was a tad too long. even though I got a good seal at the top, I think the downstem was touching the bottom of the flask. as a result, ever time I inserted the downstem (which is often as I rinse the bong daily) I was tapping the bottom of the flask, thus it broke.Another downside to the DIY tabletop bong. Hello, I just wanted to thank you for your post. It led me to discover Jaxels Art. I was actually planning to get a tabletop bong myself, and I'm really glad I read your contribution here. I wanted to take a moment to express my gratitude for that.
Mine just arrived. It's not small, like I thought it might be! It's also is perfectly clear, not like the one shown in the picture. If you happen to have a 4.75" downstem (4.5" sort of works with extra water, but not ideal), a 19mm stopper/plug (could be improvised), and a 19mm whip connector and whip, this thing is pretty fun. It's also a great conversation starter. I’m no sure how much I’ll use it. The pull to vapor ratio seems off. Still, it’s fun looking.Hey Old Fart! how are you doing today?

I've got that Ikea bamboo cutting board! I've had it for over a decade as a sofa lap desk and it's still going strong. I'd recognize those opposing slanted sides anywhereMine just arrived. I call it the Jabba Bong (after Jabba the Hut).
I use a very short downstem connected to the whip (as per Lee's video) to attach the whip to the bong. This (theoretically) gives additional diffusion.
I'm a little worried about plopping it down on surfaces, so I'm going to cut a piece of thick wood (construction debris) and route out an indentation for the pipe to sit on.
