Actually, I have an idea. There was a story after the election about a Chinese exchange student whose dad is an Evangelical Christian living in Beijing. Her dad believes God made Trump win the election, but only as part of the Lord's longer-term plan to destroy the United States of America

When I saw the end of the very first ep of 'Mad Men', I said out loud... "I'm gonna love this show" And I've watched it twice (something I almost never do, especially with six whole seasons). G*d, I loved that '63 DeVille he drove.

There were some issues I saw (continuity and otherwise), especially in the last season. But on average, it won for me on two factors--period piece, plus I fucking lived (some of) it.

They nailed this show. From the cast to the costumes, decors and props. And probably the greatest final of all times as well.
That last part in Esalen is the icing on the cake.

You're not going to like my opinions on that show, lol. I watched it when I was a kid. The problem is... so did all the Obama Boys. Unfortunately, they learned very bad and dumb lessons about politics from Aaron Sorkin.

What is with this, "it's supposed to be hard" to send your kids to college bullshit? On two incomes?! Why? So your boss's boss's boss's portfolio can go up 2 points?? That's pathetic!

This is supposed to be a Liberal's perfect fantasy world. You'd think Josh and Toby would look at this guy and say, "we're going to fight until every child in America can go to a public college for free!"

I may not *agree* with your opinions on the show (or some other of life's wonders and disappointments).... but as the man said... 'I'll defend to the death your right to say them' (paraphrased) Put another way, I may not agree with someone, but if they can make a persuasive argument, I'll listen & engage (most times, anyway).

Anywho... I promise to watch the second clip, but about to finally hit the hay for a few hours. Once I watch it, I'll come back and discuss both. But, yeah, there's a bit of nuance I know I will talk about with the first clip. Just wanted to say that now, so none of my various detractors (ha!) would pick my response apart by saying I took too long to think of it or something


(for all BTW, apologies to the board (& regular readers of this thread) if I've effectively spammed it with posts the last 24 or so. I really am on a new Rx, didn't consider it efficacious, and doubled the dosage a couple of days ago (doc knows I do this; it's pre-arranged, so no worries.) Except for you guys who have to sift thru more chaff, as a result. Sorry for that. Ps: No armchair diagnoses, plz and TY!

Well that sure explains a lot. Seriously, feel better !! Sometimes it takes a while to adjust the meds to be where they need to be. Give it a little time.

you seem to mention this in many of your posts, but seriously what is considered Total Socialism in Bazinga world? You keep asking about successful Socialist countries, but in your perspective what is Total?

I would contend that if you are a businessman, but i friend of Rapist in Chief and gave him a lot of Money then the resultant product is also a form of Socialism. This is that redistribution of wealth that you were looking for! Poor people lose their healthcare and the money goes to his Billionaires! The exclusion is none of the rest of US get to participate in any of the benefits , its only for him and his cronies. Thus is the premise Fascism relies on. When he was trying to get those last votes through the House he would say it was all for MAGA! Everyone else get screwed.

Case in point Tik-Tok . Last term trump wanted Tik-Tok BANNED because of its ties to China and how it could be used to indoctrinate Americans (much like your red hat cult). Now the Donald has gotten PAID and all of a sudden ........... Not so bad, they can stick around and this strict time table is ignored. All because he is personally benefitting.

My view of total socialism is that I'm in agreement with the definition and then add in the concept of wealth distribution, as suggested by Mr. Wolff and members here that support him. Thanks for asking and I hope this helps.

I don't necessarily disagree with you. I have previously stated I believe in health care for all (with an individual mandate).

I've also previously mentioned that I've studied the Nordic system of socialism and found that it is appealing. I read somewhere that stated their system may run short of money because of the unanticipated costs of their social nets. Dont really know, but I wouldn't be surprised. Because of our social and economic systems the Nordic system possibly wouldn't work here. Before we attempt to bring it here I think we should wait a little longer to be sure it's viable. In the meantime don't you think the (government, etal) should be working to improve what we currently have?

Flotsam. Don't get a fat head but I'm compelled to thank for one of the most productive posts that I've participated in this forum. You had a question and a good one at that. You made no inaccurate and nasty accusations. Just take a look at some of those other posts !! Yours, not a cuss word to be found. A civil conversation !! Sorry for so much drama but when I get a post like yours it helps to restore my faith that folks generally mean well.
