Tafée Bowle

Just received my Bowle tonight and very excited to try it out. I received the short and stubby stem with my order and the short stem has the finish slightly rubbing off in a few areas. My stubby stem looks perfect. Should I be concerned about this? I read some posts from much earlier where there were some issues with the finish flaking off after cleaning.

I didn’t see anything, but is there a way to check or calibrate the temperature? I know it’s smooth, but on the highest setting I’m not over cooking herb, no coughing, decent, but not thick vapor. If the max temperature is as hot as they say, shouldn’t I be at least charring the herb?

TB2 by the way. Silver edition if that makes any difference.

Did the system reset help? I’m with you the vapor is very cool but vapor production doesn’t really replicate my tm2. I would say in temp 4 I get 4-5 hits but I hear about people clearing a bowl after 2? How? I can’t even make it to the timeout of the draw sensor. I usually go about 10 seconds 4 hits. My ABV is cooked but I did expect a darker ABV. Given my device heats up the herb I don’t believe it to be a malfunctioning device , I just struggle to call it a hard hitter.
I can clear a bowl in 2 big hits on levels 4 or 5. To really maximize the heater you need lengthen your draw and try to draw slowly and consistently. That doesn't mean you need to hold your breath for the 20+sec timeout though. I just take little side-breaths during the draw and continue to draw slowly right up until the timeout.

You need to be quick with the side-breaths but nothing crazy. Just make sure you're quick enough so the green light stays on indicating the heater is still on. These little "pipe-puff" side-breaths should help your enjoyment too because some vapor should escape and you'll smell the vapor while you draw and taste it too.

Doing this will make a big difference in your level of extraction. The heat applied to the bowl is completely dependent on the length of your draw so a much longer draw will lead to a much hotter bowl. Once you've reached the timeout on your first hit, the bowl should be too hot to handle easily. If you take the second hit right away, the heat builds on top of the stored heat in the bowl and you get a really dark roast.

I've never gotten anything charred however. I'm not sure I want to try either. I rarely use level 5 and I'll just cut the draw short if it tastes bad or gets too hot.

I would def ask for a replacement. Yes the finish was a bit of a problem with Series 1, but is much better now. You got one that should not have made it past QC!

I sent an email with photos and they responded in less than 2 hours that they were sending a replacement stem. Very happy with their service right now.
This does not surprise me. I have found their CS to be very thoughtful. I truly believe they replaced your stem because they want you to have the best experience.

The reset might be worth a try. The process doesn't seem very invasive. I think it just makes sure everything is at the factory default settings. TB told me to try this before sending in my first unit. My replacement has been flawless.

Trying to hold back from comparisons with the TM2, I'll say that while both are convection, they provide different styles of hits and different highs to me. I'll agree that TM2 hit is not as intense in cloud size, but the high hits me harder.

I am a low temp user by nature, but I do like big clouds too. It surprises me sometimes to hear how it takes some folks so many hits at the higher settings to finish a bowl. I usually take 2 hits on 2 for flavor, then 2 hits on 3 to get the majority of medicine extracted. The hits on 3 are bigger, but roasty tasting. I find that starting out on 3 gets me stoned no problem, but I end up forgoing the flavor for a quicker session experience. I can't imagine going to 4 or 5 for any flower hits, it would be too hot and too roasted for me.

I also agree on some of that cigar-puffing. For the first 2 hits, starting out with some quick puffing gets the terps through your nasal cavity and helps a lot with flavor. Again, this is me, but if I don't start with some puffs, then a long steady first hit will be seriously lacking in perceived flavor. This is with any vape.

I was also pretty exclusively a level 2 and 3 user but if you're feeling adventurous, try level 4 and as soon as you're feeling the vapor is too hot or too uncomfortable in some way, kill the heater and finish the hit. You might not get the timing right on the first go but I've found I can anticipate when things might get too hot on level 4 for example during a long draw. If you can manage to kill the heater at the right time, you can get a nice tasty blast of flavor before things get too roasty. Same for level 5 but less margin for error I suppose.

Okay! I have read every page of this thing and my Bowle showed up yesterday.

A couple of quick things...

Around page 170 I think, someone was complaining that they didn't like drinking from plastic and prefer a can. AFAIK all cans have plastic lining on the inside these days so you're still drinking from plastic. It's more about the type of plastic and this is not one that affects taste.

I forgot the other thing but it took me 10 days to get through all that! I kinda regret reading the first 100 pages or so because it got me nervous about what I ordered even though mine was a newer version. Ultimately it helps me appreciate what is in this package a bit more though.

As soon as I opened the Bowle I registered it and sent off an email to support. Unfortunately the top of the puck has a handful of scuffs and one of the bottom feet has actual scrapes like it was used. 😕

I hope they are not selling refurbished stock as new and I'm sure it was a mistake, but they replied late this morning and offered an apology and either a $30 refund or to replace the puck with something more aligned with expectations of a new $400+ purchase.

I was planning on keeping it regardless of whether I got any remedy offered, but when I finally got to try it out for the first time today and brought it up to draw I found myself staring straight at scuffs and would be every time I drew from thd device moving forward. I like to keep my devices clean and looking as new for as many years as possible, and that I could tell would put a negative shadow over every session.

It's really dumb how a minor cosmetic thing can affect an experience, but it is what it is.

I was surprised they want me to ship my puck back to them before they send a replacement considering I am on day 2 as an owner buying direct from their site. That seems like I'm being punished for their QC mistake. Oh well... I asked them to consider shipping first but I'm not going to cry if it doesnt work out.

On the device and performance, I am definitely impressed! It's slightly reserved right now because I did not have anything close to optimal freshness available with the time window I had but I rode one bowl the first half of the day just to see how it would stretch to start. Awesome stuff. I'll report more when I have some more worthy material pulled from the many jars and bags hidden out of my curious kid's eyes and reach. I've been using the Pivot only for a few weeks and they seem like a proper combo based on what one bowl from each did to me tonight!

Does anybody know what actually happens to the device if the fire button is pressed if you’re not inhaling?

I just let a family member try out my TB2 and they proceeded to do just that 5-6 times before I took it away from them. I don’t think they were inhaling hard enough and the device shut off automatically each time within 2-3 seconds. It was painful to watch— I gave a demonstration and explained how to do it and everything. Anyways, I hope my TB2 isn’t damaged now. Still seems to work.

But what is the actual problem created when dry firing the oven happens?

I cannot recall what page but I recall reading about this in one of the posts from mid to late last year.

It can damage the sensor or the oven to have it run for too long without air flow. If it is cutting off after 3 seconds as intended then I think you are ok but, yeah, I definitely wouldn't want to be firing it back to back like that with any regularity!

I had a few more bowls over the course of yesterday through today and am getting a feel for it. I started from a 100% charge and after 4 cups am on 2 out of 5 lights for battery, which seems way lower than others but this was ths first charge and based on earlier comments it gets better after a few charges... we'll see! Either way this unit will be going back for a replacement that doesn't look used.

I am on true love's path with this device, though. The pure ease and convenience cannot be understated! One of my favorite aspects is that even after going at level 4 (will try 5 this weekend with some oil on top) I can pretty much immediately pop the stem out and handle the cup with my bare fingers. Yeah it feels hot but nowhere near an uncomfortable burning hot. Less tools or accessories needed on the fly if having to rush.

Not that it offers a lot of protection, but i found a good use for my leather treasure bag I got with another purchase and I love it. Perfect fit and zero ambient smell when stored with a fresh cup in the stem.

Thank you for putting my mind at ease! And I feel like you were sent that puck by mistake because mine was on 4 bars after 4 pots. Did they offer to send you a new puck first or do you still have to send yours back beforehand?

That bag is a seriously cool addition!

I’m also loving the device, it’s end game by all accounts. Be careful with handing it off to inexperienced people is my only advice lol. All seems well still.

The bag is from a different brand that sells leather goods and part of their "membership" package, to be clear, not something from Tafée. Sorry if that was confusing.

I still have the original puck at the moment. They said that they were sorry but I had to return this to them first (at their cost) before they'll ship the replacement. I told them I'd planned to originally take mine on a mini vacation to enjoy before I'd opened the package and they said that's fine, enjoy your time with it and send it back after when convenient.

Alright I’m a couple days into owning a bowle2 now so I thought I’d give my early opinion on this unique vape

First I’ll get the less good out of the way: the cup is absolutely silly to me it will live in the box but that’s fine I like people trying weird ideas this one just does not work for me at all, if the goal was discreet this weird looking cup screams attention lol. Second the price is undeniably high but that could easily drop a bit with a no cup no grinder version, the grinders are also pretty useless to me I prefer my bcg but I will say the metal one is very nicely made and using it to fill the cups it does work, the plus side is receiving 9 ceramic bowls was a surprise I didn’t realize it came with that many, I’m stoked on that. Also used an easy to find promo code for a free stubby stem so that helps the price out a bit.

The big good stuff: this might be a perfect vape, time might change my mind but currently as a stand-alone it’s the best electronic I’ve ever used, I love my solo 3 too but I can’t really see grabbing that outside of using it through glass rigs for bigger sessions ( which it will get used for that still it’s pretty killer in that setup) but natively the bowle2 is the smoothest/least harsh vape it’s actually kind of wild how not harsh the vapour is and I’m using the stubby stem, that’s a extremely short vapour path for that much cooling. The on demand is instant, the vape pumps and it’s hits are smooth and easy, fully even extraction, amazing flavour, the only other thing I want is reliability which time will tell but from what I’m seeing cs is also excellent so I’m not worried at all. I’m using heat levels 2-4, 4 roasts so I’m curious what 5 is capable of.

I’m Canadian and with the tariffs and gov threatening situation it was a goal for me to support a Canadian manufacturer and it’s just a awesome bonus that it’s the best electric vape I’ve ever used, well worth what it costs for all of that imo.

Glad you're enjoying the Bowle, we love ours, too.
I only use the cup a couple of times a year, like hangin on the front porch.

The whole Bowle experience, by design, is toward comfort. The designers intent for the cup is so the user might hydrate before the hit, as well as during the session and beyond. So I think it had little to do with stealth.

I would use the cup, but it’s too small and if I use ice I get condensation over the USB port. That makes it worthless to me, but I love it otherwise. I do need a way to store filled pots that does NOT let the dry out though.

Edit: left off the word NOT. Added it in.

Interesting. I always use ice in mine and have never had this problem.

I don't think I'd ever use the cup to hold a drink, I do like being able to leave it out sometimes and others just think its some kind of mug or water bottle from a distance. Unless a non-vaper really focused on it, it doesn't look like a pot device.

I do remember posting a long while ago in this thread about another possible use for the cup. Something about when you're really couch-locked and you gotta go, but you can't make it to the bathroom to pee.

By time I have been so couch-locked that I couldn’t make it to a sink or something, I’m gonna need more than that little cup. I Hydrate!

I have exclusively used the cup for storage to transport the charger, cord, brush, and maintenance items. I will probably use it as a cup when I go down to our place by the water but who knows.

In other news, my silicone mouthpieces picked up scent that lingered as I was testing out the toasty settings (4 and 5). I've tried a few things in the past but never could fully get the smell gone until I put these last night in a ziploc with a 50/50 mix of hot water and white vinegar. I let it sit overnight and then rinsed them and they smell like they are brand new... dont know why I haven't tried this before with any silicone pieces!
