(UNVERIFIED) Skinny by Storz & Bickel

This thread also stresses me out, not that I mind opinions and even S&B bashing, but the point of a vape thread is to help inform potential buyers of REAL info.
So as long as this thread will end once the Venty is actually released, I personally don’t care what is said.

@Stu - in light of this 9+ pages of pure speculation, when this is released tomorrow, can we create a new thread and archive this one since it has basically no helpful info in it?

No thoughts, head empty
Only one day more and then maybe there will be more talk about the actual vape.
Hope so too. I’m expecting to be underwhelmed but it’s been exciting watching these developments! Really hoping this new vape has something new rather than just a mighty/crafty in a new form factor, but the new cooling chamber does look much easier to clean than their current offerings at the very least. Shame it’s almost entirely plastic still.

I am interested in learning more about the vape, especially the new heating technology. I'm not expecting it to change my opinion, but I'll be pleased if I'm wrong.

The one thing that keeps coming to mind regarding the medical certification is that it didn't prevent aluminium dust appearing in the vapour path in the past, so why does it still carry so much weight? I understand wrt the EMF isolation, that's very important sometimes but that's not the extent of the certification... Is that negative just drowned out by the hyperbole?

Yeah I still would love to know more about the medical cert and if it actually holds any weight at all.

Fans here seem to indicate it as one of the main reasons they go for it.

But I can’t find any real information on how that cert is obtained, what it actually means for consumers, and why is it only Storz and Bickel?

Seems like an easy way to grow sales and popularity without it even meaning anything to the device.

Am I in danger if I use a non-medically certified device? Or is it more marketing flash to attract the medical crowd with claims that hardly mean anything within the actual function of the vape.

Will the new venty also have a medical certification? Does any of this really even matter?

If it can heat up from cold in 10 seconds or less and go to 446F like Big Daddy it will be a slam dunk. Bonus points if they squeezed in an extra bowl or two per charge.

The main criticism of these portables from hardcore enthusiasts is almost always the session focus, but if you could do a quick hit that would change things a lot. With the hybrid heating it would in theory be sort of like a mass market Firewood.

I love my Mighty/Crafty because they are session vapes. When I am vaping with others who don’t vape often/ever, all I have to tell them is to inhale, Pass, puff, pass, puff, 😋.

I have plenty of on demand vapes and I love them as well, but people who bust on this just because it is a session vape…fine, this isn’t the vape for you, luckily there are many others that will meet your expectations.

I agree it would be great to hear HOW it is certified.
My guess is because cannabis is illegal in most countries, it is hard to even get a medical certification, even if it is ”worthy” of it.
The most important factors are materials they use that are in the AIR PATH, which is fair game discussion on these threads.

Hi there,
I'm quite new here and I'll just sneak in and post my opinion on what's been leaked to far:

First: I know and tried the "normal" Mighty for many years. For more than half a year now I am a user of the Mighty Medic Plus. Quite a late adopter and I didn't think I would need that. I never liked the looks, the plastic, the not-removable batteries etc etc. But the performance and the medical certification convinced me. I hope for reliability. I think it is a really good product. Some might say it is one of the best in its class ;)
Nevertheless, the discrepancy between functionality and design strikes my again and again. It just keeps me fascinated how something so good can look so bad. As it was intentionally ugly!? And it's not just the aesthetics, I think some design choices counteract the aim to have a long-lasting product... However, I don't want to drift away, just keep my criticism in mind: I think the leaked photos of the "Venty" show a product that reminds me of quite iconic designs of some electronic products in the late 1980s and 90s. Don't you think? (I will keep my eyes open to find some examples). For now, I cannot judge anything else of the Venty but the design. And I think it is perfect! Just great. It is somehow a continuation of the Mighty and Crafty design (which I think are really terrible, as mentioned) but much more pleasant to the eye. A clear idea, a clear line, and there are for sure some major design references hidden. Hopefully it also improved the performance even more, but nothing can be said about that so far. From the looks, they stayed true to themselves but got better, way better. I appreciate that. At least by what I've seen from my perspective. Still not how I picture my perfect vaporizer, but seems like perfect in its way.

Why do you think the call it "Venty"? My first idea would be that they put a small ventilator in it. That would be good for medical users like me who do not always have enough power to draw. Also, this would make it easier to control the actual temperature or the, let's say, extraction rate. With that I suggest also more convection (like the TM2 supposedly, haven't tried).

However however, I cannot and want not purchase this device any time soon. And I probably never will buy a vaporizer that I will need to connect to my phone (if that's the case for the Venty?). I will rather put my not-existing VAS money in a Vapman heating station (which will come out soon too!). That will give me everything I need and I will put my money with good conscience in a small company with nice and down-to-earth people (which I can just check by emailing them :D).

PS: After reading through... It is quite an amusing mystery for me how a product release can be literally "infuriating" to people. No, honestly, it stresses me out and I will better leave this thread to the haters. I keep my anger for more important stuff...

That ease of use that we enjoy is not limited to session vapes though. When I hand someone my Persy Pod of 6 star hash rosin I give those same instructions. There's no heat-up time, loading, button pushing, cleaning, or anything.

It's like how a square is a rectangle but a rectangle isn't a square.

My point is it's so much easier to stretch an on demand vape out into a session then turning a session vape into an on demand. Heat up time has always been a major turn off in converting smokers to our side and is a predominant reason why many people who enjoy these devices don't actually purchase one.

We've had the session experience dialed in nicely for nearly a decade so a quick heatup time would get a lot of current owners excited about upgrading. Obviously that's who they really want to impress, they aren't competing with TinyMight, they're competing with themselves. For someone who already loves their Crafty, the best thing Storz could do is make a more compelling version of that.

That's the thing though, if it could heat up quick, that's one more feature that can't be busted on.
Even the naysayers would try it out - just like we did with the Tafee Bowle.

I think that design wise this looks cool as hell. It's got a steampunk retro 80s look to it that I really like. You take one look at it, and you know it's an S&B product. Like it or not, you can't deny the brand recognition is solid.

That being said, the look of this device is so far down my list of priorities. We'll see how performance is (or at least advertised to be) tomorrow, then the real discussion here will take place.

S&B vapes are meant to be reliable, high quality vapes, but low percentage of people sending their units back to "Service Department" for Repair etc'. mass production.

Lamart vapes, or Herbo, RBT, or Musa, or iNVERTEDiSALiVE / iDB meant to bring the best vapor quality with focusing on airflow etc', vapes people will never forget. Tetra P80 man? best quality vapor I have ever had in my collection. it's not 100% glass path but feels like. same like Mi3 almost, but Mi3 is unregulated so ...

The Tetra P80 tastes better somehow even that the ELEV8R. dunno how is it possible but that's my opinion. or my ELEV8R heater was too dirty idk!

Woodscents also tastes like TP80 i think, but more restricted airflow. people say Herbo or Musa tastes a bit better, nobody ever said S&B tastes like "top" i think. no glass. no breakage.

People will not forget their Lamart vapes. or all glass paths. S&B? it works well, it's tasty, but it's not a top quality vapor or performance.

The Volcano got a heater and a pump so it's cool. Mighty is another thing. it's not so cool. lol. if that makes sense.

Anything new, good or bad, ugly or pretty, pushes the market. Especially from a huge brand with lots of eyes.
If it's a bust, they'll do better next time and will learn from their ever evolving audience.

In my experience, S&B can be underwhelming, but not disappointing. We want and expect a LOT as enthusiasts ... but their aim is to deliver consistency, not drastic innovation.

Looking at other markets with deep communities like vaping, the "mainstream" is typically pretty rough compared to what the enthusiasts want.

S&B is at least pretty damn solid, even from an enthusiasts perspective.

Not perfect, room to grow, which can be a good thing for the entire market.

I think of innovating too strongly, and I see MV1 in my trashcan.

Even the TM isn't huge innovation. It's something done before, but honed in to top performance.

At the end of the day, if it rips and tastes good, I'll suck on anything.

Your Herbo tastes much much better than S&B right? or better than all vapes maybe? lol

I will never understand why the ondemand crowd constantly puts down session devices or advocate for makers to cater to their ondemand preferences. Some of us thinks ondemand is silly. We dont all need to huff bong shots to get high. Some of us like to chill with a sesh. If you dont like it go somewhere else. Seems totally pointless to preach ondemand to a sesh crowd. For what it’s worth I think vapes that needs you to suck on it for 20 seconds to get a cloud are silly. But you don’t see me hound TM users because I don’t care and they wouldn’t care what I thought anyway. Just move on ffs.

I find it a little weird that vapes aren't at the point where they can heat up within seconds. It's an efficiency waste when looking from a battery perspective, let alone your own time.

I'm fine having a session vape...just don't make me wait 2 minutes to get there.
(I'll still wait, but I still think they should catch up to the rest of the market...).

Also, everyone's situation is different. Some people do need immediate relief or don't have much time.
When I vape at night during my activities, I have literally 30-60 seconds sometimes to get a session started.

On demand vapes are a requirement for me. Heat up vapes are okay when I have the time.

Cool. I don’t mind waiting for it to heat up. Especially if it means I don’t have to take 20 second huffs.
they don't need on-demand, they need all-glass path. pure, clean, better effects, better taste, better everything
Why are they here then? This is a thread for the new SB device. It’s not for the ondemand huffing glass purists.

Yeah, I would hope this new S&B vape has a quicker heat-up time. I tend to turn mine on and then load it while it’s heating up to save a little time, but if they could get it down to 45 seconds max, that would be a huge improvement for me.

Glass path would also be amazing (But not holding my breath!)
