Combustion=vaping (sort of)

I was vaping a couple of days ago and had a high thought - that combusting while smoking a joint is also partly vaporising.
Now I haven’t done any scientific testing but I was thinking that while the tip is burning and you draw from the joint, there will be hot air passing through and vaporising the herb closest to you. So anything not yet burning gets vaporised!

Now you know, you don’t need any fancy vapes, just burn a joint

It depends on the form of combustion. I don't know how much vaping is happening in a bong hit. But a joint is for sure a mini vaporizer, with a lot of combustion mixed in. The cherry is a high temp heater so you're vaping the uncombusted flower.

It still tastes like ass though. The combustion taste is always too overwhelming for me, even when drawing slowly.

Very important topic to open a thread for.
Sorry, I will make SURE to run it by you next time I open a thread.

But seriously, I am still new to the forum here, I didn’t know where else to post this.. And if you did read my post, I would think it maybe, kinda obvious that I was trying to be a little humorous (ex. I ”had a high thought”)

^There you go, a smiley just for you, in case you missed the humour.
And I will do my part and add smileys to all my future posts for further clarification

Yes, I had the same thought not long ago and this is why joints can taste better than pipes. You are getting a mix of smoke and vapor from the material that is further back from the burning tip. However, any amount of smoke tastes like shit compared to pure vapor, and can give you cancer or lung disease if you keep doing it.

IMO, it is not partial, more like plus and minus. It is up to the user to sort out which method has the most pluses or minuses given their preferences.

The air passing through the joint isn't hot enough to vaporize the rest of the contents. I'm sure there is some vaporization happening, but only to the herb that is very very close to the cherry and you'll never notice it in the presence of all of that smoke.

Or maybe some pepple can taste the difference between a pipe hit and a joint hit, but that's like comparing a loaf of poo to a loaf of poo with cream cheese on top..

Yes this is totally correct and it’s the exact reason people love it when it’s a “slow burning joint”.

You know? Where it burns real slow, this allows more of the cannabis to be vaporized and gives a better taste and experience for all.

That being said you can do the same with a lighter/herb iron and a pipe/bong. You just keep the heat far from the cannabis but close enough to pull in some of the heat and you‘ll sort of“melt” the cannabis and it’ll start to turn brown just like vaping because, you are vaping it. As long as it doesn’t “cherry/go orange” you are vaping it. YUMMY.

If you use really good kief/collected cannabinoid crystals from your grinder i.e. bubble hash-like kief and you keep the lighter far enough you can “vape” it and it’ll bubble nicely instead of burn.
