in session, damn you are correct i just tested too. it is 1 min
in on demand it one min according to manual. i think the software or manual is fuced on this issue! @Gary-Airvape both are one min, tested .
should be 3 min in session mode.
My copy of the instructions says 3 minutes Safety Shutoff...Dosent mention Mode...my assumption its both Session or Demand....Mine shuts off at 3 minutes with No Movement when in Session mode when time is set to 10 minutes run time.

Well. Just had my first session with a dosing cap. iMHO it performed perfectly fine vapour wise, BUT now i cant get it open. Thats 5 out of the 6 we shared non functional now.

Gonna try a few tricks but tbh i think unless these get a redesign i wont be buying more. I do think the unit benefits from the dosing caps.

Few general thoughts after a month or so of use…..
Pros
Battery performance is amazing.
Flavour/vapour quality is good, better than my crafty for sure.
Temp range is awesome, the higher end is great for hashes etc.
Cons
Not being able to clean those corners is a dealbreaker for me, its a bad design.
The feel of the vape at first was like an expensive car key, and at first i liked it. As times gone on I've begun to feel that its actually a bit naff. The faux leather and material bottom fee tacky, the bottom attracts dirt and theres no easy way to clean it.

2 quick questions to @Gary-Airvape is there any way to open this thing up? Like hidden screws behind the leather or something? And can you pull the rubber grommets which hold the glass tube out for cleaning? I dont wanna break anything i cant replace.

I do like this vape and for occasional use i think its worth keeping. I still feel like my ultimate session portable slot is open, my crafty+ will probably resume its role as daily beater and this will be shelved or possibly sold.

Not the crafty killer id hoped for, but a decent bit of kit if you're not fussed by the cleaning and appearance.

I’ve opened the dosing cap! Iso soak and a pair of pliers did it.

Also i re worded some of the original post as i think it reads a bit better and has less subjective nonsense

spot on!

imagine this tech inside a lighter wood enclosure, with actually fully removable glass path and more logical/simple oven interaction .... would be no1 portable IMO. ALP heating tech is top notch but the whole design could be simplified and improved if the oven access was also the fully removable vape path... like almost every other great vape out there, for good reasons turns out. seriously what's the point of having such a large heavy door and consequently big unstable hinge if only 10% of it is actually useful? don't get me started on the plastic back, hemp textile and pleather. i can see the arguments for them but nah... not in a dry herb vape, there are better solutions.

for now i made my peace with and clean the 2 unremovable plastic bits with qtips, interdental brushes and ISO. only did this a couple of times so far but it's not as bad as it sounds and decent results considering. i only put up with this because it has the efficiency, performance and vapor quality we all apreciate.
overall i'm glad to have it for a discount, but can't wait for a better/redesign.

edit: to clarify this is actually high praise coming from me, being extremely selective of my devices, IMO the ALP is the best single cell battery powered device currently available.

i can clean those hidden corners with Gumm brushes and tight-wound q-tips, not the fluffy kind., all cleans almost perfectly.
the heavy door need that to maintain the door arc. hinge is good not the best but is still working like new..
the fake leathers if treated with respect, has no issues after 5 months but i keep mine in a case and don't throw it around.
i treat it as a valuable piece, not a meh unit.
with a few mods it is very good unit.
that's my experience with this daily driver.
dc suck though.

yes but i'm saying why does it have to be so large (and consequently heavy and unstable) if only the small segment covering the bowl is actually useful.
why not have a small metal cover for the oven, and a larger plastic one for the battery/airpath section, with a single hinge between them? would save space and be lighter, cheaper, more durable, stable and convenient.

edit: sry i'm just ranting because i can see ways it could be so much better and i'm frustrated with the length of the process when it's so close.

Pliers! omg, Budkups and the S&B dosage caps both snap shut, no threads. How about a version two capsule with a snap open/shut system? Maybe a twist and lock system like the Davinci ceramic caps, or just big fat threads like the Davinci steel caps?

I've had mine for a little over a month as well, and i pretty much agree with davesmith's assessment. For me, its saving grace is its vapour quality. I only wish that the rest of it was as good. It has the makings of a really good vape.

Most of my concerns have been mentioned before, such as the airpath cleaning, the dodgy door hinge (mine pops open if I push near the hinge), microdose disc issues (it gets clogged, insufficient range of movement) and my pet hate atm - the oval screen replacement. I removed the oval screen to improve the air flow etc., but then I found that when I loaded the device crumbs would fall down the oval hole, so I put it back. I dread having to clean it. Maybe its just me, but it drives me nuts trying to get it seated properly.

I got used to the fabric exterior, i didn't like the feel of it at first. (Though I think it might function as a reasonably good heat insulator. ) But personally I would prefer something smoother, even that leatherette would be better imho.

Obviously I have no real insight into the workings of the company, but from my limited viewpoint it looks as though they have prioritised marketing aspects too heavily at the expense of functionality.

Anyway, despite my complaints, I use the avlp a lot. The reasonably quick heat up time, swappable battery, easy to load/unload (barring the messiness) and great vapour, are all things I really like about it. If they could take the heater and put it into a more amenable package it could be a very good vape.

Okay, I type with one finger and this long enough. I'll just add this bit, I've been vaping for getting on to 25 years now (I started in the 90's making my own). I have used a lot of vaporisers in that time, and every one of them has had aspects to it that I would like to see changed. The avlp is no different in that regard. But for me the good points of the avlp outweigh the not so great ones, so I continue to use it.

Time to give the typing finger a rest now.

not 25, but close, couldn't agree more, though I'm waiting on a nomad, and haven't tested everything, cheers!

I love my Alp....no matter what else I get. It deserves space right next to my Tinymight and Tetra P80...I believe its a great daily vape...the taste is exceptional. I decided not to use the capsules. I am doing what someone suggested earlier...I use just the lid over the herb from the capsule...it works better for me.

That's been how I'm using it 🤷

The capsule lid on top of a full bowl really works a treat. My routine to go to sleep lately has been two capsules of dry herb, followed by a bowl of herb + concentrate with a capsule lid covering the top.

That sounds amazing...also, is it indica? For a deep sleep I have to use Indica...a strong level one. Then, I can feel rested when I am in bed. But, it only lasts a couple of hours or less and I have to medicate again. Anxiety through the roof. But, I totally prefer this than, what the Dr. had me on. This is helping me.

Honestly a sativa or even hybrid puts me to sleep better than indica - maybe because I have ADHD 🤷‍♂️

Or it could be that leaf shape has nothing to do with effects:
Cool article. Suggests the entourage effect of the terpene profile is what really distinguishes strains and the type of effects. Thanks for posting.

I love my AVLP as well. It is also the best single battery portable I've come across so far. I do wish it were a bit easier to maintain clean (I wipedown after every bowl) but it tastes amazing, is really versatile and the battery is great.

As i understand, the safety feature is designed to not let the oven to continue to burn, if the device has no movement during a 1 minute period of time. has nothing to do with the length of session time.
correction: 3 min cut-off time, thanks Okla68

And? Thank you for telling me more of the obvious, I'm aware that it's designed to turn off after 1 minute. My point is that this is a completely arbitrary time and should be unnecessary if the vape isn't dangerously engineered. I can't see a single reason for why a 1 minute auto timer is a good idea. It completely defeats the purpose of having a long session.

And no, it's most definitely 1 minute cut off on session mode. 3 minutes would have been annoying but unacceptable. At least it's the same length as the default session time. 1 minute is almost unusable.

That, and coupled with the fact that this supposedly no-stir vape requires constant stirring, makes this an extremely disappointing purchase.

Great tips and input, seedy. I can say from experience that the no movement cutoff makes total sense.

Hooo Boy, then aren't you going to be excited by this!!

always glad to help.

i think most alp users don't have a problem with the safety feature but if it bothers you do the obvious. lol it's never cut-off on me, i must use my alp differ from your method.

never needed to stir mine.
may i suggest you sell it on discord exchange site.
good luck resolving your issues with the alp.
