EVOLV Cricket

Yes, I’m aware no cell will cycle forever.

Ok, but I was replying more to your statement that I quoted “I was told the battery is over spec.”
Batteries CANNOT be over spec, when tested by industry standards, they have a specification. Including, amperage, and capacity, two of the more important ones.

As far as a “fair price” on Evolv replacing a soldered on battery, who knows, but add shipping one or both ways, insurance, and the time without the device, is a negative in my opinion.

Lol. It’s too perfect not to say it.

And I’m just end user like y’all, so, I could only suggest where to hangout to them if they ask. I have already suggested they join us here but not much else I could do. Like I said idc If we do the group buy. I’m chillin with mine rn ;)

I’m just saying that I don’t see any way to do a group buy without their involvement. If they want to get their product into the hands of experienced users, they could (but aren’t). Makes you wonder, no? At the very least, it makes me wonder 🤨

Is it normal for a retailer to buy out a completely untested v1.0 release but not acknowledge it at all (no pre-sale, no ‘coming soon’, no hype or even acknowledgment whatsoever)? In my industry, this rollout strategy would be seen as unspeakably bizarre, and a huge red flag that shit is not above board. I’d be curious to hear what someone on the retail side like @VGOODIEZ thought about the whole situation.

I am a fan of DNA mods and the escribe software so I was interested in this project as soon as I saw it. I immediately liked the slim form factor, the solid looking trough surface, and the DNA level temp control potential.

I did not mind using the titanium buckets in other 510 devices unless they ran over temp so I am not worried about the dabbing surface being ti. If the temp control on this is truly single degree controllable I think the titanium taste will be minimal to acceptable.

Pulsing to pre-melt the dabs will definitely be required, I already qtip after every dab in my other devices so keeping it clean does not look like an issue for me personally.

The price is a bit steep, yes, for sure but the cost to design and build in the USA is what it is and I am willing to keep some money from leaving North America.

If the battery will last for 600 dabs minimum I am ok with that cost averaged out to 50 cents per dab or less.

Based on what I have seen and read so far, I am willing to take a chance on this one and let everyone know how it performs for me.

Brandon can poo poo marketing if he wants. But one reason I'd rather give the Proxy a shot and wait on the Cricket is, if I don't like the Proxy I can always easily sell it and not lose much money in the process. Because people know what the Proxy is. There's a market for it.

Let's say I tried the Evolv device and it turns out I think it tastes metal tangy, or the airflow/draw restriction is off, or I don't like the short vapor path, or any of the many variables don't work for me. Well, I can try and sell it. But since there's basically no marketing or detailed info about it... now I'm the one having to say "trust me bro".

And no offense to the Buckeye State, but I have no plans to go to Ohio for the rest of my natural life. So it looks like I couldn't buy one even if I wanted to. Very interested to see more reviews, if/when that happens though.

I'd agree that it seems strange but who knows anymore? People do weird stuff in this industry sometimes. This unit looks interesting to me personally but not something we would likely stock anytime soon. We are phasing out concentrate devices on the website to avoid any PACT Act exposure. With that this company would probably do right to continue to market towards brick and mortar channels as opposed to online.

Yeah that's the rub, for me. I'm less interested in all the intrigue around the odd rollout. I'm just not buying a vape based on a single positive review. I think that's a reasonable stance.

Different strokes for different folks. I was more willing to throw $400 at the Cricket than any product puffco has put out in the past 6 years. I’m smart enough to realize puffco is just ecig components assembled in a different way but now featuring an app LMFAO. Some innovation over there!

Also, if $400 is a lot for you to part with, you probably shouldn’t be considering buying one anyways, lol. Just my two cents.

I mean I can play that game too. Humboldt Vape Tech had 1 degree temp control on energized Ti like 10 years ago. Evolv just "repurposed" Ti coils into a swabbable trench.

I appreciate the innovation Evolv is doing here. But it's still ecig components assembled in a different way. Which makes sense. Evolv is an e-cig company. Not a cannabis vape company.

If there were multiple reviews from people I knew were seasoned dabbers, I'd give it a whirl. But dropping $400 on a dabbing device from a company that has never made a dabbing device before based on one guy saying "trust me bro" would make me a sucker, in my humble opinion.

The device still intrigues me. I'd just like to see some other opinions. If that makes me "not smart" or a "broke boy", so be it.

My point is, if I want a puffco experience, I could buy a bottomless banger and pair it with my atomizer and mod.

If I want a portable pocketable experience there is no proxy ;) for that

Wow, that’s a nasty, dishonest comment (you’ll note that the comment you’re replying to makes absolutely no mention of the relative value of $400 to that particular member).

Yeah the Proxy is more of a portable in a bag vape than a pocket portable.

The intriguing thing about Evolv's bug vape is it looks much more pocketable than other crucible style wax pens, with the iPhone shape. But the thing is... I'm already locked into carrying an iPhone sized device in my pocket. Namely, my iPhone. Plus a wallet/keys. So adding another iPhone sized device to my pants pockets isn't super enticing. If I had a Cricket...it would probably be only portable in a bag, just like the Proxy.

Something like a 710 hash pod or live rosin cart is still the best pocket dab solution. Super tasty. No loading. No q-tipping. No maintenance whatsoever.

Could you explain to me how that is a nasty and dishonest comment to make ? No one should spend money they’re not comfortable spending. Admittedly, buying a vape with no reviews is akin to gambling and I get that. Which is why I only play with money I’m okay with losing. $300-$400 too rich for your blood? Well then don’t take the risk.

Cricket was a gamble worth taking for me and I’m glad I did.

The cricket is absolutely a pocket vape. It fits right next to my wallet in my pocket.

I also hate pods and carts for a lot of reasons, but if that’s your on the go choice I’m sure it works just fine and you def wouldn’t need a cricket.

Sure! This comment of yours makes it pretty clear:
$300-$400 too rich for your blood? Well then don’t take the risk.

Taking the comment “I'm just not buying a vape based on a single positive review” and turning it into insinuation that they can’t afford it is a cheap rhetorical gambit that just makes you look like you’re not engaging in good faith.

I'll gamble a bit in Vegas. That's fun. I don't really see the need to gamble on vape purchases though. That's all I was saying. Plus, your proposition was we could save $100 if we buy it based on a single review. I'm willing to wait for more reviews and info even if it costs more money later. Don't really see the need to rush.

I think you have a very reasonable take and I want to apologies for insinuating the cricket was something that was too expensive for you to afford based on your reservations of buying one based solely on my review.

I am merely “Trust me bro” , bro, lol.

Apologies to anyone’s else in the thread who was also taken aback by my earlier comment.

I had no trouble dropping $400 on a flower vape and xtras, mostly because I knew if I didn't like it, it would be pretty easy to recoup most, if not all funds, on the resale market. Unfortunately I don't see that here, but am still excited about a small, easy to maintain device for concentrates! That being said, I am so happy with my current flower situation that I can wait for the perfect concentrate solution, for my needs. If it isn't the cricket, I'm confident something with show up. cheers all!
