The article contains some inaccuracies but it's kind of amazing to find an article like this in the Home and Garden section of the Washington Post!

As marijuana is legalized in more places, here’s how to grow your own

imrs.php

A basic setup to grow marijuana can cost about $250 to $1,400. More advanced systems, however, can cost thousands more. (Shannon Stapleton/Reuters)

Tired of paying $70/eighth for MN medical bud. Two dispensaries allowed in the whole state so they can charge what they want. $200 state license fee per year (highest in the country!!!) to boot.
It's my understanding that anyone with a medical license is automatically eligible for an Oklahoma medical license. As of today there are 530 licensed dispensaries in Oklahoma county. You can probably get an Oklahoma license and six ounces of weed for $200 (if you shop carefully).

Principal Guy,,,, The price is right... Come on down!

We had a medical program for over 20 years in California and still have $70 eights.
How’s that for progressivism? 🤐😷

$48 for 3 oz is ridiculous, and funny to see people still falling for partisan poly-ticks lol. just the taxes on one eight can reach $20-30+ here.

Interesting amount of precision on the percent of THC.

Someone wanted precision. :ko:

They probably rely on one test for the entire batch. The real test would be how it tastes. I expected something slightly better than shake but was shocked when I couldn't see that much difference between the weed on the top shelf and the bottom shelf.

I think the main difference is the fact that individual growers are putting up a lot of temporary greenhouses (i.e. 20, 50 or more) so with 9000 growers the state is awash in greenhouse weed. I'm certain that greenhouse weed can't be as good as super premium indoor weed, but it's surprisingly good. It instantly made a believer out of me when I tried it. Lots of folks here prefer to pay $200/oz and higher for 30+% weed. I have a theory that the intense sunshine sort of makes up for the intense heat. Regardless of strain, the buds are generally a little more dense and firm compared to indoor weed, as if resin-glued. Anyway, THC is THC, you can afford to get 10 hits of this for the price of that.

how in the Hell can Feds even take a single cent of tax from sale of what they deem as illegal ?? before allowing a single cent of tax to move into their hands the federal status of what is being sold should be reconsidered ... the Feds needs to face ramifications for accepting tax money for the sales of what they have made illegal [plain and simple

This might not qualify as actual news, but decided it was worth posting after I read it.

It should have been obvious to me, after 50+ years chasing the wacky weed, but it wasn't. I thought the (formerly clandestine) indoor hydroponic grows would always produce the best, end of story. Only in the last month or two have I re-learned how good sun grown weed can be, and how inexpensive it can be. In fact, anyone with a medical license can grow it out back for free.

The linked article points out that sun grown weed is sustainable, whereas indoor weed will produce many times the amount of pollution due to lights, climate control, exhaust, fans, building materials, chemicals, etc. I'm guessing some local growers have found ways to produce acres of excellent greenhouse weed for $15-25/oz, which might be 1/3 the cost of indoor super premium on a corporate scale. If the cheap weed has excellent terpene flavor, and it's $41/oz, there's no competition. I'm guessing the growers that invested millions in high tech indoor facilities, in relatively high cost areas, are starting to wonder if there's a better way.

I agree, and people do still get convicted on possession of small amounts, but from what I’ve seen most people in the US still seem to consider anyone who sells “drugs” outside of the pharmaceutical system a criminal who causes violence and death directly or indirectly. Whether or not that’s true for an individual, I think that’s still a hard perspective for a lot of Americans to escape.

Also I think they try to keep people who would do the right thing off of juries…

(From what I gather, this relates to anything less than 0.2% THC, and for medicinal purposes only).

I guess this is why Federal legalization hasn't happened yet.

It also points out, yet again, that opioid use decreases in legalized jurisdictions. Amazing that many of the dumbfucks in Congress made speeches referencing the opioid crisis. "Why are we legalizing marijuana during an opioid crisis?!?!" Because it makes the opioid crisis less deadly, dummy.

Prohibitionists are literally killing people. If we had politicians serious about legalization, that's exactly what they'd be saying about their opponents.

You know, when I saw the following headline the other day, I laughed and remembered all the folks who used to say that it was big pharma trying to keep it illegal all along!
It's like they were possibly dead right, big pharma along with big tobacco and maybe the brewerys/distilleries too, and the fricken cops.

Damn good news, marcuss. Another blow against Babylon.

Here's another snippet of cannabis news...

Dog misses planted drugs in Japan, customs embarrassed

Japanese customs officials apologised Monday for putting cannabis in an unsuspecting passenger's luggage but no one has come forward yet to accept the apology or to return the drugs.

I work a LOT in Georgia and am afraid you have grossly misinterpreted state/local laws.

Weed is absolutely NOT legal in GA. Not recreationally. There is a medicinal program but absolutely ZERO distribution is in place, meaning all access is through blackmarket and still not legal. Several cities have DECRIMINILIZED and lessened penalties, but absolutely not legalized.

We can have a nice talk about it on here, but try arguing your position to any local enforcement, half don't know the meaning behind the most recent changes.... you can't talk your way out in Georgia a la Pot Brothers at Law.

Exactly this. If the cop has a bug up their but, you'll still spend a night in a cage. Also if you have a scale, or plastic ziplock bags in your car you're risking the cop trying to pin a distribution charge on you. Also any amount of concentrate is a felony.

From May 2, 2022, the status in Georgia.
Almost no cannabis is legal in Ga., except very limited medical "dosing"

I think the legal sale and use of hemp nationwide confuses the issue for a lot of people.
You can find places that will sell you a pound of bud real cheap, even mail order, but you have to drill down a bit to see that it is not really actual high thc cannabis. It is CBD hemp at best, sprayed with Delta 8 thc at worst.

it is the beta caryophyllene in cannabis that is anti inflammatory and also all of the acidic form, carbon actve phytocannabinoids and also the non acidic form , carbon neutral cannabinoids as well ... most of the metabolism of cannabis compounds are anti inflammatory unless you inhale the smoke of the plant that then causes inflammation and carbon monoxide build up in the body

Hey, you're right. Just got another article thrown at me 😅😅 I obviously wouldn't grow weed outside and wouldn't smoke joints in public. But a lot of Georgians told me that it's legal to smoke and to grow a plant for your own use.
