I have a gen 3 dual that has stopped working, I thought my V2 had broken again but I'm just having problems with the mod reading the atomizer. Should I dispose of the mod?

Another mod can read it or u don't have another? if another mod can read the atomizer, get dispose of the Gen3
if you don't have another mod, I'd recommend getting Eleaf Rim-C (AF compatibility)

Yes, I have another mod, I bought a few gen 3's because I had read of longevity issues. It works with another gen 3 that I have so I'll toss the broken one out. Thanks for your help!

Before you chuck it out
Make sure the centre pin springs back when you press it down as they can get stuck or go sluggish sometimes.
And give the contacts a good scrub with a pencil eraser or a really fine abrasive incase there is any oxidation or anything causing a bad contact

I’ve got another hack for you, if you, like me, prefer a smaller mouthpiece than the stock RBT stems have: the Grav 16mm silicone chillum. Remove the chillum and stick the casing on an RBT stem. Bonus: you can fill the stem with glass beads for cooling, and you can cap the end for transport if you want to

Cool! I've done this with the Octotaster for use in a Tinymight. This didn't even occur to me. Thanks.

he makes the cosmic extractor right? very nice looking work! but I have a line on a never used splinter but I need a mod to go with it. has to be from this site, I have a buddy doing reviews for them and they send him free stuff so he can toss a mod my way but the DNA mods aren't on the table right now so I need another option from the site I posted.

I don't see any of the mods I have, but IIRC @bossman said the Eleaf iStick Rim C works well with the Splinter. And you can also flash it with AF.

@FearAndLawyering keeps a stock of Sinious 228 with AF preloaded includes a profile for all the common 510 including both Splinter Z and v2

I've heard the mods he uses are great but its the fact that I can get a mod for free that takes some of the sting out of the price of picking up the splinter. and shipping to Canada from the States ain't cheep

What version of the Splinter are you getting? Might be good to know for mod suggestions as far as fitment goes.

I'm not a hundred percent sure what it is, I think just a reg splinter and not a z but I don't know if its v1 or v2 and I'm still in the process of finding out if its still available and what it is exactly. been a while since I knew for sure they still had it but I don't see them selling it to anyone else since they sold me the mp and screens for use with my tinymight some time ago, hopefully it didn't get thrown out!!!! I'm kinda pumped about this one:tup:

in general, any mod that does TCR will work fine. there a few devices or features I will gravitate towards though

- no single 18650 battery mods, deal breaker for me personally. terrible battery life and cheap mod circuitry generally works better with higher voltage - 55W @ .4ohm is 4.69v which is higher than a single cell can provide and then you depend on boosting (instead of bucking)

- mods that can run arctic fox firmware to allow autofire mode

this leaves very few options (maybe none? except when new old stock becomes available) for 'best of' but plenty of 'adequate' options. I will probably not be offering loose mods anymore, remaining ones will be part of bundles

How can I see the cold coil value in Arctic Fox window, from the PC? or from the device? I want to configure TCR 145 not 125 and need my cold value

When I open up a AF config on my PC, any profile that is configured in TCR has a line for Coil Material. On that line TCR is selected in the dropdown box and next to it is the box for setting the value, with up and down arrows. Is that what you are looking for?

for PC : it's in 'Device Monitor' OUTSIDE of the Arctic Fox Configuration. from 'Welcome to NToolbox' homepage. great! Finally found it!!
@CanikUser19 check it out if you don't know it yet too, like I did, it's pretty much shocking how much details are found there! lol

thanks @Franco I remembered reading the eleaf were good but which model I did not. I was hoping the legendary @bossman would chime in if they have anything better that's not a DNA 🤞

RimC is good, that is the one bossman has, I have one too, though I have not tried it with Splinter (my SplinterV2 is on a P80 with Arctic Fox working very well) if it is a regular splinter it's not really going to matter which version it is btw for practical settings use, once you can confirm which, I'll tell you what might be different about it if you want!

Yeah I disagree, with a regular splinter, I do not want to use a dual battery mod, unnecessary, adds extra heft, honestly I might even like to use a single battery with my Z, the thing is disease is so much bigger so it doesn't feel right with a single battery mod, but like I really do prefer just having one battery instead of having to use a pair, I haven't had issues with my single battery mods but I feel like there are issues with a lot of mods for a lot of people in general lol

I don't want to get to excited before I know they still have it but since I did a good deed for 420 I think ive earned myself a reward... not counting that calibear :dog: I was always very interested in the splinter but I was really only getting into vaping and didn't want to go down that rabbit hole but now I think I might enjoy the challenge and I already have vapes that shred my face off so I can take my time and learn without worrying I won't be able to figure out this dang contraption out so I can get my meds!!! looking forward to geeking out over settings. got a bit of reading to do:lol:

Fuck a DNA: the extra button pressing is too fiddly for temp stepping and no autofire.

I really only use my Zs but lean toward @FearAndLawyering on the single versus two cell mod question.

The single cell Rim C is such a tidy fit for the smaller V1/2 body and it powers it well enough for the first few bowls before the battery feels saggy.

I'd never run a Z on a single cell: the two cell Red Panda/Arctic Fox mods are a more rewarding power source for the larger heater and you can feel it in the speedy heatup from a cold start.

It's not just a battery life thing: the Espion and Ravage mods power the Zs better throughout the charge, not that I take them low at all. I typically recharge by 3.7V because the Z heater responsiveness and first hit performance are noticeably worse as the cells drain.

Tl;dr: if you like the V1/2 you'll love the Z but do yourself a favor and try a Red Panda mod at some point
