Selling above retail value

I think i have seen lately some people selling above retail value and i wonder if we are still honoring the rule below.
  • This section is provided as a service for members to exchange unused or unwanted items. It is not a place to sell items above retail value for a profit or to unload a large surplus.

Take My Money Dammit!
If you're referring to my p80s for sale, there's around $90 in glassware, I'm eating paypal and usps express shipping. Take that into consideration the units are below the $400 mark. Seriously, if you can find a P-80 under $400 for the unit with no other fees for for it. I'm sorry, my pricing is right in line with market rate.

Good luck with your sale.

Too bad. I just sold 2 never used mflb's with serial numbers for 60 each. You could have done well.

Yeah but yours doesnt have a DNA from using it natively by a legend :D..

My favorite was the guy recently asking $300 for a barebones G43 sled (on Reddit). It's a fun novelty vape but hardly a collectors item.
There is still a $300 dollar offer for a G43 if anyone is interested.
We are not discussing the morality of price gouging, but just a certain rule from the Classified section.

Team NO SLEEP!
Les, you are family and I can feel the pain in your post... Clearly you have been on the wrong side of a transaction or been taken advantage of. No need to make that kind of assumption about me, I am not that kind of person.

I do not take advantage of those less fortunate, but if someone sees the value in an item and wants to pay for it, what gives you or anyone else the right to shame that seller for getting the most value out of a sale?

No one can argue the rarity of P80s, it is not a product available to everyone... I fucking LOVE my p80 though and it is my daily. If lost tomorrow, I'd drop a fortune in a blink just to reacquire one, it is that important to my medication schedule and nothing out there can replace its power and portability.

It all comes down to personal value and if you are not a buyer, there is really no need to impose your position on another person's sale. let it be and move on.

I was no way having a go at you @FlyingLow for being a scalper, I just did not want you giving ideas to sellers to sell their items for even higher prices due to their popularity...Ispire Wand was US75$ before it became popular, many others do the same...just keep marking up the price until sales drop again...rinse and repeat...or worse...RTX30 series

When these products aren't readily available such as the TetraP80 or perhaps something rarer... I see no problem having market decide price. There was some guy on reddit who started his G43 at like something stupid $600 and he has been consistently relisting it for atleast a year dropping the price to mid 300s prob where the other price got his idea from.

My point is if you ask a high price and nobody bids, you lower the price until someone does. Price gouging to me is you buy everything single P80 in the drop and charge 700 per unit.

Classifieds rules update !
Addition:
  • Items that are no longer in production may be listed for more than their original retail cost.
Products that are discontinued or out of production often realize a valuation higher than their original retail price and may be listed as such.

What about custom vapes? Woods, Inlays or special cuts would you need proof of purchase to show what you paid or would it be honor system? Got no sides in this just curious?
this in a nutshell is the same set of problems EE ran into. it gets really nuanced and annoying to try to define. the best simplest answer is to decide that 'retail' means brick and mortar or otherwise widely available and that niche devices were never really sold at retail and not subject to same rules and issues.

the rule itself is just aimed to stop retailers from trying to use this as a distribution channel while avoiding traditional costs like fees or taxes or MSRP agreements.

That’s why im wondering a lot of p80s are custom with inlays and different woods or acrylics, or it’s got a body style that isn’t as common now or they are one of a kind. Of course that will have a higher price a long with the one of a kind or unique attribute.
