I don’t burn clean, but the ease of wiping away all grime and buildup with a single qtip and water is unmatched. Set at 250, one pass with a qtip and you’re done.

melted down some rosin and refilled this one

What else are you adding to liquify?
Surely that is not just rosin

It’s just hash rosin, I never add anything to my cartridges. Made a few in the past with various sauces, but this is my first time making rosin carts. I used to think you needed all this fancy equipment like Blue River but then I tried some from this other company and they just use melted down hash rosin. Nothing to it, I use a coffee mug warmer.

You just want something with a good amount of terpenes already, and something clean enough that you could clean up a dab of it with just one q tip. If it passes that test it should work. I actually think having minimal residue is more important than terpene content, but terpenes help the viscosity/flow.

The hash rosin I get is runnier than raw distillate. I've often wondered if it can just be thrown in a ceramic cart.

You just need to activate it and it’s ready to fill. It’s a little process up front but then there’s nothing to clean up for the life of the cartridge. I’d probably recommend half gram cartridges for rosin, this is a halfer too. This one is a refill so I’m curious to see how well the rosin cart takes refilling; I wouldn’t expect it to go as long as live resin sauce but If it can handle even one refill I think I could justify it. This one was originally filled with rosin from a brand called CLSICS, picked it up for just $15 because it was old, and I still thought it was better than any sauce cart I’ve had recently. Idk, I’m definitely a hash rosin guy through and through these days, and having it on the go in a pocketable format is a real treat!

This particular piece of cartridge hardware definitely isn’t the highest quality but I’m gonna try and track down some better ones now that the proof of concept worked.

Are you decarbing it, or just heating it a bit to get it into the cart?

I like the idea of having ceramic carts that can be refilled at least once or twice. Helps cut down on my guilt from the waste. Though I do wonder how many q-tips I'd go through in the process of dabbing a whole gram.

Im doing a complete activation; you want everything melted down til smooth and homogenous so it flows/wicks the best.

Flavor is awesome, I could see it being a fun little rabbit hole.

Yeah! If it works out, make a post about it. I'm always afraid of evaporating too many terps. But this would make my rosin carts way more affordable. A gram of hash rosin runs $60-$90 here for the most part. A half gram rosin cart is $65.

I've filled my own distillate carts a couple times over the past year. I don't think FL has the same heavy metal standards as CA, so I try and use my own carts from companies that publish their own test results. But a gram of distillate plus cannabis derived terps runs for $75 here! At that price, I'd much rather use the rosin.

I don’t burn clean
I should clarify that when I say 'burn clean' I am just talking about setting the controller on 999 for 5-10 mins, I do not disassemble it and hit it with a flame. I am only hitting my Dnail about a dozen times a day now I have my Puffco Peak Pro.

I hear ya, I just never needed to burn with the ease of H20... and I don't have to wait a few minutes for the temps to come down to usable range.

I turn my PID controller up to 999f to clean while I clean the bong from the day before, it is clean by the time I do that and goes back to normal temp while I make my morning coffee...ready for dabs for the day...it only gets turned off when I go to bed.
Here is another great alternative to fossil fuel (insert Manchin frown)..the Dablamp...don't take too much notice of his PPP in this vid as he seemed to forget how to use it...button masher time!

After thinking this over some more, I think I want to stick with an erig sort of device. The RIO looks fucking awesome but I don't need a torch setup at home right now. Maybe in the future.

The Core mentioned by @BabyFacedFinster looks pretty interesting. It seems to occupy a nice middle ground where it may perhaps fewer bells and whistles as the Peak Pro, but coming in at about half the price. I think I would consider giving this unit a try, but as stated, it seems to be out of stock at the moment.

I might just have to bite the bullet and buy a Puffco after all. In what I've read for the last few days, it seems that most owners are pretty satisfied with the device, and most folks report that the atomizer can be used for thousands of dabs before needing replacement. I see that CCV has them listed for $325, although apparently there would be no warranty since they are not an "authorized reseller". That whole aspect of this product does really put me off, I'm a bit incredulous that Puffco has revoked warranties from folks that paid less than MSRP. If anybody knows where this device can be found even cheaper or through an authorized shop at a decent price please advise!

I paid US$340 for mine after much shopping, so US$325 sounds pretty good...I just want a Puffco Hot Knife now for easier loading...of my rosin into any device!

I saw the Hot Knife, seems like a pretty interesting idea. I've just been dipping my Terp Pen into my live resin, so have not dealt too much with the hassle that is getting sticky substances to gracefully abandon the tool they are on. Did your PcPP come with warranty or did you buy from an unauthorized seller?

People speak highly of the Puffco. They are just more than I would want to spend. Hell, if money was no object I'd probably buy a Switch. The Core is a killer and has yet to fail me after daily use for at least 6 months. I love the Ti bucket so much that I have yet to try the quartz bucket that came with it. Matt at DT had stocked them and all the parts. I wonder if he would know if they'll ever ship them again?

Anyway, another one that might make a good spare for me is the Source Orb Versa. They are pretty cheap and seem to function very similarly. The senior stoner guy on youtube (a few posts up) has a few vids on one. The problem is he never shows the damn attys. I can't tell what this ceramic coil and insert system looks like. For $95 at creamcity, it might be a good deal.

NA, no proper temp control and it is fucking huge and very expensive to post, I had a delay getting my PPP and the Aussie seller tried to give me Switch instead...no thanks, I will wait for their V2!
source is also crap!
I looked at them for quite a while...seems a bit cheap and nasty like the rest of Source gear...that IH:disgust:

If dabs are the direction you want, not a lot of better options than the IH Switch or iSpire Wand. I have only recently gotten my B-Rod but have not had a chance to dab with it. But this baller version for flower is pretty sweet. Very much time to try a double decker.

I like my Ispire Wand but I have a few options that are better, the Puffco Peak Pro is one of them...by a fair margin.:2c:

Found an online shop that had the Peak Pro listed for $350 but was able to get a 25% off coupon to apply. I have never heard of the shop before but after a few minutes of research I think they are legit but slow to ship. I don't want to wait ages, but if they actually send me a unit for $262 I'll be pretty fucking happy. 🤞

For shatter/wax I use a Yocan Regen. These are around $30-35 CAD.

I ended up double splurging. I bought the Peak Pro and then somehow decided to grab a TinyMight so as to upgrade my flower game as well. I'm happy with both products but if I somehow lost my TM tomorrow I would probably buy another straight away. The Puffco I would probably have to think about.

please let us know if you find a good cartridge (hardware) suitable for hash rosin carts... I only tried ccells... what you think about ccells?
