DaVinci IQ2

One more thing. I seem to have been able to reduce the silicone smell somewhat after days of cleaning and airing out the device (though the silicone taste is still very much noticeable). But it seems like the heater makes a buzzing sound while the device is on, once it gets up to the temperature or smart path setting it's set to. It sounds like a defect. Is it supposed to do that?

Oh yeah silicone, from a fresh product, does take some air cure, fresh blank burn-ins, iso swabbing, to neutralize often with these products that I find, but mine when it arrived did not require that much if I can recall correctly... Probably posted about it in here! Also yeah a little noise might be audible and I think been mentioned, but if it's a strong buzz then perhaps more defect indication?

@tykb, that buzzing noise is the PWM checking for the temperature. The loudness of the buzzing kind of depends on the placement of the PWA, but rest assured it's completely normal, and most vaporizers actually do this, just some louder than others.

Spoiler Alert!

Are you ready for the newest innovation from DaVinci? We wanted to share this with you all here. More info to come.....

I bought this device because of the clean air path free of plastics or metals, as health and safety (and flavor) were my number one priority, and this device seemed second to none as far as portable vapes go.

This was my purchase reason.

However, there is a strong chemical smell coming from the device that I can't seem to remove.

Can confirm.

I've tried soaking the components in iso and leaving them out to air out for hours. I've run tons of burn-off cycles. When I taste the air coming out of the empty device, it's a terrible taste and it sticks in my mouth. I haven't even tried putting dry herb in the device yet.

If I can't figure out how to get rid of the chemical smell, I may have to return the device.

This is the identical issue I had - albeit from the original IQ. Uncanny. You could be quoting from my previous post.

I had a return because of it and was about to give up on the replacement because I had the same behavior. Finally, I just decided to give it one shot with herb before I returned it again. At the very first bowl the taste went away and never came back. No idea why. I can't imagine it just got covered up, the chemical taste seemed too strong to be covered up. Regardless, it was just gone.

At the end of the day my understanding is there's just not enough research to make a definitive call on the safety issue unfortunately. Food grade silicone sure doesn't guarantee safety for inhalation and if I could taste any chemical coming from my unit, I wouldn't use it myself.

Sounds like you've got some direction already, but wanted to share my experience in case it helps anyone else.

With vaporizers, we are heating material to a very high temperature and then breathing it into our lungs and holding it there.

As an aside noone asked for, I recently learned that the current science says that holding smoke / vapor doesn't increase thc in body. Apparently, any extra effects felt result from the temporary oxygen deprivation. Go figure.

Something new from Da Vinci always gets me excited.
My first pre-order/ first-run vape was the Ascent. Ah, such simpler times. (Not really, it was a bit of a shitshow if I can remember that far back!) But they have improved quite a bit and kept the ceramic oven - which is the key reason I keep coming back! Love me some DaVinci flavor.
Looking forward to seeing something new!

Haha yeah there is actually a thread somewhere discussing this, while true for horrible smoke, you do want to hold vapor in at least a little bit to absorb, you don't want to just exhale right away, but also the best thing to do is actually to inhale some fresh oxygen in on top of the vapor hit before you exhale, that way you don't have oxygen deprivation and that helps the vapor absorb further deeper... That's what I had learned at least and seems to be truly effective in practice, but all the science with these kind of things is pretty gray I think!

Shut up and take my money!

I have had all davinci products and two iq2 but these ones had a lot of problems (electronics, hinges..) in fact we have a lot of units in the spanish group and almost all of them have problems, but the performance is amazing when it works (now I know how a Hopper fan feels😅) if you solved the reliability it can be the conduction king

I have some leather sleeves, iq2 vapepress and a lot of accesories, will them fit in the new unit? Do you know when it could be available in Europe after release date?🤔

I like you continue with the same desing, you have a good product, only need to manage some issues and build a reliable device, the third time lucky! I watched all teasers and I like what I see at the moment, usbC, discreet colors, more powerful.. (>220C this time??)

I have never understood why this device is not more popular with heavy users, I never tried a vaporizer with that density clouds

If spanish speakers are interested, we will review it in detail on the telegram group (joint purchase maybe?)

It will be available in the Eu at the same release date.

In size comparison, the IQC will be compatible with any accessories you have for IQ2.

SEARCH for the treasure...
I have 2 IQ2s so I will pass on this one.

Yeah, after reading this, I’ll pass:

“The DaVinci IQC retains its iconic, portable body, but with a few of the IQ2’s bells and whistles trimmed off – such as the dosage control and the air dial. Several of the former zirconia pieces have been replaced with hi-temperature silicone parts, and the aluminum lids have been swapped out for antimicrobial polymer lids. These swaps drove down its price point from $295 to $229. The charging port has also been switched out from the outdated micro- USB to the more apt USB-C.”

Above From: https://thevape.guide/reviews/davinci-iqc-review/

This quote from Davinci rep on reddit:

The IQ2 is still the flagship product with dosage control, variable air flow and all aluminum body and lids and it will continue in our offering. Including a limited edition mystery color coming soon!

Major differences between IQ2 and IQC are;

  • IQC does not have the adjustable Air Dial, IQ2 does
  • IQC does not have on-device dosage, IQ2 does
  • IQC has taken a new approach to Clean First Technology by introducing the FDA approved antimicrobial polymer lid
  • IQC introduces C-type fast charging
  • IQC has a 5-year Warranty, IQ2 has a 10-year warranty

i am curious, what makes one get two of the same vape, so im prepared when it happens to me lol
Mostly stupidity. Some VAS. I have a wife. Good to have backups. We have 2 Mightys, 2 IQ2s, 2 Tinymights, 2 Splinters. We have 2 stick shift convertibles, 2 cats, 2 sons, 2 grandsons. Did I mention we aren't the brightest folks around. I posted in another thread that I'm currently working with my 10th broken bone. I have had 5 surgeries (one that saved my life). Tomorrow I will be having a MRI on my left knee (haven't been able to jog in a month). Life is short, we both have good paying jobs - so why not enjoy, to the fullest, the time we have left?

When you discover a vape that you thoroughly enjoy, it's hard not to pick up another.

Now if I could only get 2 girlfriends !!

hahahahaha this was a fantastic response. It honestly seems like to me you are pretty smart, time is the most important commodity in this world and i would guess you save quite a bit of it. couldnt imagine waiting on two back-to-back Mighty heatups lol

I think the question is, there is any iq2 or Hopper user that doesn't have at least two units?😂
well what have i gotten myself into lmao

Well, it works if while waiting for Mighty to warm up you prepare your favorite beverage (or feed the cats).

Does anyone know off any good IQ2 sales or deals??
Cheers
Searching Canadian stores gives some good prices fwiw (and add the strong USD$ discount), like this for a lowest price in stock site.

$225 CAD. And no affiliation... never used them either. And I'd always recommend checking that anyone is an authorized reseller. Davinci had a list of authorized resellers posted on their website, can't find it at the moment...
