Brilliant Cut Grinder

I'd like a grinder that I can simply dunk in hot PBW to clean (well ok, soak is probably a better term to use).
It's so much safer to store (and in general) than ISO.
I know there is the UMG and HR, but everyone has been raving so much about BCG and the way it doesn't stick, that I'd really like to try a full stainless model, or a BCG with an all-over cerakote finish (only the non Cerakote surfaces of my SLX 303 ever need cleaning).
I just hope the SS BCG isn't too expensive, although I guess it will be quite pricey. Maybe the savings from not needing anodising will help to offset some of the extra costs of machining SS.

Kathleen from GFL Team just confirmed they’re working on a SS version but she didn’t gave me any specific date…

I don't mean to be a killjoy as I suspect that we will see the stainless steel model soon, but I still have in my inbox a response from the GFL team dated mid-August 2019 stating that they were just about to move into new facilities with new equipment that was intended to be used to make the stainless steel model among other things. To add some perspective, they've also been talking about a 4-piece for just as long as the SS, and that hasn't materialized yet either. I also believe there is work being done on an actual vaporizer, so we can only guess where the priority/focus is outside of actual production of the BCGs.

Not trying to knock the progress of the development, just wanted to temper expectations. I've personally been waiting on the SS model for almost 2 years now.

I let my buddy use my grinder and I didn't realize he was using a metal scooper. I look over and it looks like he's chiseling away hard lol I quickly tell him to ease up don't scratch it lol. I'm checking it over today and man I thought for sure the bowl was going to be all scratched up but sure enough looks fine! this thing is pretty tough.. lesson learned though, don't assume your friends aren't neathanderthals.

So you're saying there's a chance.
I had guessed that a Al/SS version wasn't working out (they originally mentioned stainless in the high use areas) so they were moving to an all stainless design but that is purely speculation on my part.

I hope it's a solid chunk of stainless and if the price isn't too ridiculous maybe even 316L. A 3 plate stainless setup will already be pretty expensive so I don't expect "medical grade" stainless.

Ordered April 16th and arrived a week past the estimate...

The hype is real. Once you hold it in your hand, you get it. I threw in some top shelf green to christen it but the action is so nice I wanted to grind the whole jar! Fluffy consistent med-fine from seriously dense sugary buds (on the med plate— I typically load the lid and start with a few turns upside-down).

I initially regretted not going for color (or even the more usual triple-black), but the silver grows on you— there’s something beautiful and utilitarian about it and tbh the facets keep it anything but boring, esp in the light.

Thanks @Shit Snacks for the solid tip. 👍

Hmm I think it's the strain, I've had 5 bcg now, some don't need cleaning for months on end then you hit a super resinny? Strain and everything starts to clump and struggle to fall through the teeth. Cleaning it and reusing it on that strain specifically get it gunked up extremely fast again vs other strains that go months/year of use

Hey guys, first post!! I'd like to buy a BCG, but personally, I think my local dispensaries kinda suck ass at growing cannabis. Wondering if it's worth the price tag if more often than not, even with boveda packs, my weed is pretty darn dry. I've only ever used one of those free ones retailers include, or my current Eco version of the SCS. Any thoughts?

The BCG is going to be a great grinder companion, for your entire life with flower. It is a pleasure, regardless of the condition of the herb. Bonus that it can handle herb that can give other grinders trouble.

And if you have a Dynavap, the D-Bowler is an amazing accessory.

An update as per my European fellow FC'ers:

ChitChat/Asendia delivered my BCG to a US carrier, step 2 completed! It's on the move after almost 10 days (mail 31/05, label created 28/05)
So no worries if you don't hear from it (edit:yours) for a while...

Enjoy the excercise of patience, the reward will be exponentially!

Peace
Hi fellow FC frients,

An update:
My BCG made it through customs and should arrive next week. Since it has gone through customs, I wanted to give you an overview of the costs importing the BCG into EU (Belgium) that might help you to estimate the extra costs and delivering process.

BCG+Shipping (asendia, cheapest)= 151.25$ or 127.49€
VAT+Customs formalities (Bpost)=
25.64€ + 24€ = 49.64€

That makes it a total of 177.13€.

My wife knew I was eyeballing this grinder for a while now, so she went ahead and ordered one for my 40th birthday (: Otherwise I could not justify this kind of money...

Next post will be pix!

Peace

Thanks. I gotta be honest, I didn't think this was gonna be the immediate response. I assumed it was gonna be more of the "if it's that dry then you can basically use anything at any cost point because it's not gonna help you enough to justify the cost difference".

I'll admit, I'm gonna kinda miss the sound the Eco SCS makes when the two Eco plates are rubbing against one another. Oddly comforting.

Yeah no, you still get the benefit of a gorgeous grinder with very high grade aluminum and fun colors, plus you get no threading with the all magnetic design, the choice of grind plate, and my favorite feature the anti-locking up design of the side teeth in the lid so you can load plenty, you won't need to clean, and it will keep turning and turning, even dry herbs can be pretty dense so yeah still the best overall grinder imo!

Haha yes yes, there's going to be a lot of benefits! I don't know if the eco is three piece so yeah you got an herb chamber, also I think better teeth, ability to actually clean it if you want to though you will not need to... Yeah best thing to do is just order as soon as possible so you can get it as soon as possible lol

Ah Brian Yeah someone else ordered onyx and had been waiting a while I think??

It's a great grinder and you won't find yourself with those last couple bowls being powdery leftovers....... Unless you get the fine plate but even that isn't as fine as that chewed up smutch. If you get the course plate you might find yourself using less weed by packing smaller bowls but the caveat is your going to want to use you grinder more often because it's so awesome!
