New here and need a little guidance for my 1st flower vape

Hi all!! After reading through some of the threads here I still need a little guidance or recs for a portable convection vape. I grew up smoking flower, and this year started vaping oil carts for medical use trying to go easy on my lungs. I don't like it. I want that terpy flower profile. I want to know its the flower and nothing else. Plus the oil carts give me headaches!

I have been doing my research and learned I want convection not only for taste but also control over having to complete a session. I have narrowed it down (I think) to the FF2+, the Airvape Legacy, and the Linx Eden. In the threads I read, it was stated the legacy and ff are not for novices with the whole learning curve. I would say I'm a pretty fast learner though so that doesn't deter me too much. But I do get the feeling the Eden is prob better for a novice. Of course it costs a lot less as well. That being said, I don't mind paying for great flavor, ease of cleaning/maintenance and solid performance.

I read many pages on the Legacy thread and don't know if the problems have been worked out and if I should even consider it. I hesitate on the FF2+ just because I read one post that mentioned the long, slow draws needed wore the poster out so they only used it at bedtime.

I will be using the device by myself in my home for the most part. I vape daily, about 3 pulls every couple hours, idk maybe 6 little sessions a day. No need nor desire for bulky desktop unit.

I think my main hesitation on the Eden is worries it will be hot as the preset temps are higher than the others and it seems the vapor path may not be as well insulated but I honestly don't know. I am open to suggestions and look forward to making a decision.

I say go Dynavap. Damn that is a legendary device for a reason.

With the appropriate accessory/adapter it can also be used with many existing glass water pieces you may have. $11 DapCap is great for that.

If butane lighters don't jive with your vision of a portable vape, you can get a portable, battery powered induction heater for it (Flite just launched and looks amazing; Dynavap has their Orion tho lack of replaceable batteries is a common gripe about it).

No longer feel any urge for another portable flower vape. But new Dynavap accessories like the Tectonic? Oh I'm definirely feeling the urge for them.

If you vape in your house a desktop would be the best choice. Linx Eden is almost unheard of, it’s just an entry level portable at best, and the other two have big flaws imho, iirc they both need constant stirring because of uneven extraction.
If you need to go portable I’d get a Fury 2 or a Fury Edge as a first vape.

@Flowerchild17 - I medicate with a DynaVap Tip and Cap. I make my own stems.
I use DV because my kit is manageable. I can rip loads and go about my day.
There is convenience in drawing the vape from the heater if the session allows for it.

Great choice to move wholly to flower consumption. Your options are not what most people would recommend going into 2021.
FF2 is finicky. The reason all the praise for this one focuses on flavour, is because in most other aspects it has issues. The Legacy seems to have production/design issues with lots of combustion. Linx Eden??? Must be a reason no-one is talking about this one. You would be disappointed.
Until very recently portable convection vapes were always a bit of a compromise and didn't compare with a desktop but they have come a long way.
@Shit Snacks has the better options for today's convection lovers.

If you’re set on convection, I think you should listen to @Shit Snacks and strongly consider the tafee bowle. I’ve been following that thread and generally follow convection vape threads and have several.

If I was in the market now, I’d go with the tafee bowle. If you want an inexpensive starter convection vape, look at the Vleaf Go. But I think that one will only whet your appetite and you’ll end up getting a second vape pretty quick.

I’m a fan of grasshopper too, but it sounds like tafee flavor is better and since this is for home, you don’t need the gh stealth. Plus unfortunately, the gh company has had some cs issues.

So those are the two I suggest. And when you’ve settled in to convection, want the best artisan convection vape, and can afford to wait, definitely get a Nomad.

Convection is still very good for flavor, when you get a good one, it preserves the flavor better than conduction. Also conduction can absolutely be hot and harsh, in fact it can be worse than convection in many ways, you'd have to try both, in several different vapes, to make a fair determination in that regard I think... Anyway good luck with the research!

It really depends if you will (or will want to) finish the load you start (then conduction or hybrids will work), or prefer a one-and-done approach to vaping so you can return to a started load at your leisure.

And convection harshness depends on the vape. From what I’ve read, tafee bowle is delicious. Gh can be on the harsh side, but I have no problem with it’s flavor. My vape with the best flavor by far is the Nomad.

Another device that creates great flavor and is convection is the Neo. But it’s not a vape. It’s an external heater you use with your pipe instead of combusting. Something else for you to consider...

any quality vape can create vapor that's tasty, not burnt. that and cooler vapor (less trauma to your airway), are the main reasons to vape.

I can sympathize with you trying to process all the suggestions people are offering. if getting the coolest possible vapor is a priority, make that clear to help people point you in the right direction.

my favorite vaporizer is the mighty (it's also in the top 2 or 3 of the 2 most well-know online vaporizer reviewers); it's not a good choice if you want to take 1-2 hits, put it down, return to it later, but works fine if you're going to take 3-4 hits (factor in that 1 drag off a joint or bong translates as 3-5 hits off your average vaporizer. by weight, a rough estimate is 1 vape hit per .01g). the mighty is extremely easy to use, efficient, and its design makes it easy to find your sweet spot: the best flavor (and coolest vapor) will be at the lower temperatures; for big clouds, you go to higher temps.

a lot of people believe that because the different components of weed vaporize at different temps, the high can be 'tailored' (i.e. more sedating at higher temperatures) - i.e. if you're looking for maximum medication, you'll probably end up getting into the less tasty range. with the mighty's total temperature control, it's easy to find that 'best of both worlds' point, where it's still tasty but you get clouds.

you've come to the right place if you want to hear from people who've tried lots of different devices; they should be able to point you in the right direction, but you'll get better tips if you can provide as much clarity as possible about your preferences.

Yes, easy to get distracted in the search by something shiny. You have set a hard target starting with portable convection but there are some diamonds in the rough and the looking is half the fun.

- price point
- maintenance
- portability
- vapor density & quality
- replaceable battery
- butane vs. battery
- ease of use

For portables the Tetra P80, Tinymight and Milaana are solid choices. The Tafee Bowle is my newest toy and there is some cool technology behind this thing. I'd highly recommend giving it a look. I love my desktops as well and would recommend a VapBong any day of the week.

I *think I would want to return to a started load at my leisure. The reason I say I *think is because I have never vaped flower before so I really don't know what to expect. In my experience with smoking it from a joint or bowl I can only take 2-3 tokes and I'm good. But idk if its a stronger, more concentrated effect by vaping vs smoking. I wouldn't want to pack a vape and if am unable to finish it it is A) wasted or B) tastes like crap if I come back to it. So the thought of convection appeals to me over conduction so my materials aren't cooking away.

Without any experience imho you are driven towards portables only because of the previous experiences with joints and the similarity with e-cigs. Since you seem to have low tolerance to cannabis, other than the Fury2/edge, in your situation also a Flowermate Cap should fit well, this is portable and costs just 48€, assuming you are in EU. I have every vape imaginable and used the hell out of it, instead of using “better” devices, it is ready in just a few seconds exactly like Tinymight at a fraction of the cost.

Honestly I wouldn’t get an artisanal vape like the Tinymight as a first vape (it has glass parts, so you could be back to square one just after one unlucky drop, and basically I enjoyed more the Cap than the TM. I have it since October and I already need service for my TM, and the guy wo makes it is not easy to be reached out (overwhelmed by orders), then you may prefer to repair it by yourself asking in the forum or Reddit which is not a wise choice if you have poor connection and you are not the handy guy).

Without any experience imho you are driven towards portables only because of the previous experiences with joints and the similarity with e-cigs. Since you seem to have low tolerance to cannabis, other than the Fury2/edge, in your situation also a Flowermate Cap should fit well, this is portable and costs just 48€, assuming you are in EU. I'm sure Dynavap is awesome but I am put off by the butane and those heaters are $$$$. Thanks so much for the suggestion tho!

The V Tower does seem like a great option and good price but really too conspicuous for me. I am in the U.S. so no Flowermate cap. I do hesitate on the Tinymight due to logistics. I don't want to wait forever!
