Well well well.
Came home to a surprise yesterday. A day early! So far haven’t had a chance to do much more than a quick walk with this new girl. But so far so good! I’m not very good with follow ups, most of what I post is bad jokes, or unfollowed advice, but I’ll try to be back w my impressions. . Anyway she sure is a looker! Cocobolo, thin gear sc3.

@eideal852 - glad you like it dude!

I wonder what the difference is between the SC2 and 3?

In form or function?

Other than the different style options the SC3 designs are lower mass than the SC2 so they tend to heat up a tad quicker at a given wattage. It also better isolates the heat inside the core and reduces heat transfer and stress to the wooden body. The new SC3 design will make it easier for me to make custom cores a little on down the road so that next level UDs can choose a higher mass core, or increased draw resistance, etc as well.

TLDR - Right now the differences are *mostly* aesthetic but the SC3 is a more flexible platform for customization and modification.

Danggggggg.. glad my payment didn’t go through PayPal. F those guys. USPS is understandably a little behind so I await a little longer.

Yeah PP is now officially and permanently on my shit list. Hope USPS shows up soon with that special Pup! :brow:

That's awesome to know! I might be ordering soon. If you need help fighting PP, lemme know- I've had decent success at work arguing with them and getting my way.

PP sucks for small business. I switched over to stripe. It was a no brainier as my company software sync up with it. Now easy online invoicing.

Now to the topic at hand. Can you put a SC3 into an older dog that was equiped with a sc1/2?

Thanks for the offer, I think we're just going to leave it alone though.

Yes an SC3 fits in the same body style that the SC2 used so a retrofit like that is totally doable unless the old core has become permanently stuck in the body (mostly an SC1 issue).

PayPal robbed me also..........fuck'em.
Walnut alpha dog,walnut alpha dog!

I've got the parts on hand to make custom Alphas anytime you're ready.. otherwise it'll probably be fall before we make 'off the shelf' ones for the website inventory.

Some beutiful dogs in here. This is great to see. I'll get some pics up later when I get some more time.

Thanks man! Nice to see you over here in these parts.. definitely share some pics of your Pup(s) when you have time.

My dog is waiting for me at home! I’ll get some pictures up once I can!

Wooooo! Hell yeah the Dog has landed! You got yourself a special Underdog for the collection there dude!

I am waiting on a alpha right now!

Soon come, soon come. :nod::cool:

@Underdog Log Vapes - What is the heater diameter on the Alpha? Do you have gongs for the Alpha or just the nongs?

Currently we only have the 18mm NonG but we're working on an 18mm GonG and glass Direct Draw. Hopefully we'll have those within a few months but with the way 2020 is going who knows how that will pan out in reality. :uhoh:

I also deeply desire a alpha nong,so very badly.

NonG or GonG? We have NonGs but still working on the GonGs (see above).

Yes those ones right there. They're listed as 'out of stock' but I actually have a small amount on hand.. just reserving them for the handful of Alpha's we're working on right now.

Oh, also, looks like I should have some Alpha 18mm GonGs and glass Direct Draw stems here in the next couple weeks too.

I thought I had my VAS thoroughly treated and cured, not purchasing any vapes for years apart from a Yocan e-cig, and then one day I returned to FC and see there's a NEW site. and even better, new dogs available! Thanks to Dave, UDette, and all of FC, I had to get one and share a couple family pictures.

From left to right: 1) a walnut E-Nano, my first vape from FC's recommendation 2) next, a black oak air core dog 3) a "shorty lost dog" in ailanthus wood and now, 4) a rocking FYT log! They're all beautiful, but there's no competition the latest has the most unique colors, texture, and character

Hey Dave what core does my pup have
Looks like the sc1 with the o ring spacer.

But it's so tiny. Is that a twig?

Oooh, nice.. it's either a 'Classic Core' or an SC1, not really able to tell from the outside. I'm guessing SC1 since we made 10 times more of those than the CC. The CC was basically only made during the first year or two of UD.

I'd say that's fairly standard size for a Twig.

do harder woods get hotter? twigs as well? hotter?

Hotter to the touch yes, but a tiny bit cooler in the core and for hits.

Softer woods act more like insulation and trap more heat inside whereas the harder/denser woods tend to transfer more to the exterior of the wood and radiate it off like a heatsink. The thinner the body the hotter it will feel in the hand (for all densities of wood).
