Temp controlled battery for CCell carts

YoCan Uni Pro is my current favorite for 510 cartridges.

It uses a recessed cartridge to keep the form factor small, has battery level indication, and true variable voltage based off the cartridges actual resistance - just like a proper box mod. I've been using prefilled cartridges for almost ten years, this is my favorite battery yet.

Not sure what brand this one is. My wife really likes these carts. This one has digital display and adjustable temp settings.

This looks like a good option with extra points for adjusting to various different carts. And it pretty reasonable.

Inhale activated, YAY!
but also has a button, can adjust down to 2.7v, uses four white lights as interface scheme instead of colors. Has preheat double press option, but I use cigar puffs to start vapor flow. Was a fan of this CCell Palm-like form factor with inhale activation, because holding a button depressed sets off my essential tremors, and I end up using both hands to steady. Posting this for any other ETs out there: It's called the Itsuwa Ultraflo Shield. How's that for a name? Sounds like a counterproductive condom. Found it for $20 at nextdayvapes. That's a Raw Garden cart, shoppin' local 'n legal

PCKT TWO is out!

In my last supply delivery of shatter/wax, I opened a box called “SESH”, and it’s a distillate syringe. My supplier made a mistake, but I’ve never had a commercial cart or distillate. Years ago, I obtained some Co2 thick oil, and thinned it myself, all that was available then, were crappy refillable ECig carts with wicks. Tasted bad, but worked if the oil was thinned enough to feed the atty. Once that ran out, I never sought out a distillate vape, till now. Things look like they have improved a lot, at least with ceramic carts designed to wick thick juice.

While I have a ton of various ECig batteries I can use, I thought I would just get a proper, tiny one. Read a lot, and was ready to buy the PCKT One Plus, then saw they just recently released the latest PCKT TWO!

Ordered today, they are currently having a small sale on the PCKT website, bought some of their own refillable carts, “SPRK”, as well as the SPRK all CERAMIC, as they seem to get better reviews then the CCell brand.

How did it treat you, @RustyOldNail? I’m thinking of grabbing up a 2 if it pushes lower temps, and if I can get some rosin into the ceramic SPRK

Just received it yesterday. My 1st dedicated dist cart device, so I don’t the ability to compare to the competition.
However, I did enough homework to say the OG “One” version was usually a top rated device, and this adds improvements, the big one being FIVE temperature settings, from 2.43 - 3.84 volts.

Currently, I only have one cart: “Sesh - Green Skunk” 1000mg distillate syringe (THC=87% Total Cannabinoids=89%) Additives used: Botanically derived Terpenes, Cannabis extracted via butane.

I bought both types of the SPRK Ceramic Cartridges, the metal ones with built in metal base, and the newer 510 all ceramic cart, that requires the adapter, this is the one I half filled to test. Let it soak for 8 hours, then started at the lowest setting.

Doing 5-8 second pulls, spaced out, not back to back. I was surprised at the vapor on exhale at the lowest setting, and a nice mellow hit. I’ve worked my way up to the middle heat setting, a little harsher but more vapor. Not looking for clouds on these pocket rockets, but for medication effects. Very IMPRESSED, mostly at how SMOOTH the vapor is, at the two lower settings, I can hold in my toke for as long as I can hold my breath, and NOT cough. Long 10 second pulls at middle setting will bring on a bit of coughing. For me these are great results, as I cough with every device and materials I vape, even the Sapphire DCup.

I don’t have any other carts right now to compare to as far as smoothness and results. As far as flavor, and these kinds of distillates and processed oils, I don’t really care, as I’m just interested in using a device like this to get fast pain relief. When you see and read how these final distillates are produced, separating then recombining, adding Terps etc., it’s logical to me that the taste of the original strain would be hard to retain. So my one sample has some kind of subtle floral taste, that does not bother me. I’d vape these for the results, not flavor chasing.

So far, the device is working as advertised, manual and auto pull both work, settings as easy to see and set. There is the usual 5 button clicks, for ON/OFF, but NO auto shutoff! So it would have to be turned off manually each time before risking a pocket fire if button was accidentally activated. I doubt there is much if any battery drain if it’s just left on all the time if one forgets to manually shut it off. Would be great if a user selectable POWER OFF timer was available, but with no firmware update ability, it would have to be done on newer units.

I love it’s tiny size, don’t see the need for any lower voltage settings, and I have yet to try the two highest temps, but will today. I own more ECig vape devices then one person should, and certainly could have used most of them with the 510 cart version, but I’m glad I went with this dedicated tiny device, feels nice and solid in your hand/fingers, and with good auto-draw, you can hit it with just two fingers holding it. While more expensive then most others in this category, I’d buy it again.

With the impending vape mail ban, if this or any other vape interests you, might be the time to order....

Thanks for the detailed review. I found it really helpful. I’ve owned a PCKT One+ for a while now. It’s my go-to battery for carts. The milled aluminum shell that hides the body of the cart is excellently designed. It’s especially unobtrusive. I’ve only made the mistake of buying carts that are too big to fit the barrel twice. Not a major drawback. And the SPRK is a very serviceable atomizer. I haven’t used a lot of concentrate through it yet, but having run about two fills of it over the last year or so I’d say it’s well worth the investment.

I happened to notice today that the PCKT 2 was both released and on sale so I bought one basically on the spot. Your review, which I came across right after making the purchase, fully supports my assumptions about the new version. Can’t wait to give PCKT 2 a drive!

This is the PCKT TWO, on Aqua Lab 14mm Dab Rig, with DV Mouthpiece adapter on “clear glass” 14-10mm adapters. This is a tiny easy to hold piece I use for DV’s, IQ2.

Auto-draw works well. The hits even on higher settings are so SMOOTH, even through the small amount of water in mini rig, that I’m WONDERING how much medicine I might be missing. Only tested a few times, so not a lot of experience yet, but am open to thoughts on this? There are tons of posts on how water reacts with flower and dabbing, but these distillate carts seem to offer a slightly different type of atomized vapor.

WISH LIST: Distillate CARTS, with a tapered mouthpiece that would fit directly in a 10mm female joint, eliminating an adapter, like my Divinci IQ2.

There’s a few different mouthpieces which fit a 10mm rig, I was just running one like that the other day. Unfortunately not all processors use those ones and most MFGs haven’t caught on to it, which is a shame. They’re one of my favorite hits, especially with a live resin or live rosin cartridge - I call it the C-nail (Ccell Enail)

For the flat cigarillo type mouthpieces I use the rubber end of a “dropper“ with the closed end snipped off for a makeshift WPA which will work with 14mm female glass.

Yeah, that’s what the rubber DV adapter does. It would be slick if the stock tip was tapered, but it would vary brand to brand. I’m currently using both types of SPRK carts, ordered some Ccell carts to test as well.

Do you feel the distillate through water, loses any potency? So far it’s so smooth, I don’t cough, my usual method to judge a hit....

Yeah, but I lost my Dynavap fat mouthpiece 😁

The water is probably condensing some amount of the oil, but if you can get smoother, more comfortable draws running through water, that probably does more for your potency than the losses to condensation. I think holding your hit in for longer absorption has a bigger effect on perceived potency than running the pen through water.

I do go through cartridges faster running through water, I think from the supreme convenience and ease of use lol.

Distillate is smooth from being very pure, it’s refined enough to essentially be a pharmaceutical. You might try and find liquid live resin if it’s in your market - it’s basically the same thing, but with live resin flavor.

Thanks for the confirmation. I will continue my experiments with the tiny rig. It seems the smallest that actually does any cooling/filtering, as I’ve tested a few really tiny aqua tube types, and bubblers, like the Honeybird core etc. And for the condensation issues, I would not use my larger dab/flower rigs. I’m looking forward to trying different products, like live resin, but as of now, I don’t make the selections. I have 4 “Sesh” brand syringes at hand, different strains and potency, as I move forward. And indeed, I believe you nailed it, using more juice as it’s so convenient, super low maintenance.

Looking at these conversion numbers, and assuming both devices produce accurate volt/watt outputs, the PKCT TWO seems clearly aimed at low wattage/voltage users. In real use, the highest setting on the PKCT, (3.84 Watts), seems to produce more vapor then it’s corresponding 2.4 volts, my casual observation. So far I’ve enjoyed the “RED” (3.54 Watts) second highest. Obviously, lower power should make the coil last longer. As I refill the SPRK ALL CERAMIC carts, I’ll eventually play with some higher voltage settings on the Yocan, and torture test it.

PCKT Two & YOCAN Uni Pro - Voltages versus Wattage

***CART “SPRK FULL CERAMIC”: 1.5 ohms.

PKCT TWO (5 Presets - Watts):
*WATTS=VOLTS

2.43=1.9
2.73=2.02
3.09=2.15
3.54=2.3
3.84=2.4*

YOCAN UNI PRO (2.0-4.2 volts):
*VOLTS=WATTS

2.0=2.66
2.4=3.84*
3.0=6.0
3.5=8.16
4.2=11.76

@RustyOldNail i'm not sure i'm following your posts properly but i'm curious how the 2 would stack up against the Uni Pro at low voltages. I like to keep my uni pro in the low 2v's, sometimes mid, but rarely go above 2.5v and curious if the 2 should be something I consider as an alternative, or will it feel/taste too "warm" at the lowest and second lowest temps? Cheers!

The numbers I posted show the range of both batteries. The PKCT TWO uses Wattage for its 5 colored LED heat levels, while the UNI PRO, uses VOLTAGE for its heat settings in .1 steps from 2-4.2 volts. If you use the UNI at 2.4 volts and below, the PKCT TWO would work fine for you, as 2.4 volts is its highest setting which is 3.84 WATTS. The differences are then mostly form factor. The PCKT TWO is a more solid feeling device, and has breath activation, the UNI is only manually activated. If you want to vape at higher heat levels, over 4 Watts, then the UNI may be a better option, but it’s a light weight and plastic body, not metal, Chinese factory made. Having both is nice, backup, etc. Hope this helps.

The UNI Pro reads the cartridges specific resistance just like an ecig box mod so you don’t have to compensate for variations amongst different cartridges. Does the Pckt work that way too, or is the power delivery more arbitrary? That’s what I like about the uni pro is it delivers a true 2v based on the actual electrical resistance.

While the PCKT TWO does not display the ohms of the attached cartridge, there is a chip in the device, so I can only ASSUME it would adjust itself to the current ohm reading. All of my carts are around 1.5 ohms, so it would be difficult to do a real test. As the PCKT is sold at a higher price point, it’s also a good bet it’s not just sending out volts/watts at some arbitrary ohm based level.

This is all I could find on the chipset:

“RCKT Two Chip
With so much positive feedback about our first RCKT chip that was included in the PCKT One Plus, we decided to do a complete overhaul of the the RCKT Chip to bring you the RCKT 2 Chip. Best in its class for power consumption, versatility and usability, the RCKT 2 Chip used in the PCKT 2 will definitely blow your mind. The RCKT 2 Chip improves battery life by monitoring power usage and charging to optimize your battery life and efficiency. The RCKT 2 Chip has been modified to allow for Haptic, LED brightness settings and the addition of 2 power modes to make 5 power modes.”

Tell that to the Vessel crowd! 😁

I love the battery indication and live resistance reading, I used to carry around a bulky ecig mod with a custom Arctic Fox profile/curve just for cartridges because I used to get better flavor that way then other “pen” batteries; the uni pro was the first one that truly replaced those for me. The new pckt looks pretty sweet too, might have to keep my eyes on that one - some snazzy colors! 😁

I sometimes reach for a Yocan Groote when I want the smallest form factor, it’s about the size of a bic lighter!

Experienced my first CLOG, reload after the 1st gram of distillate in a new SPRK CERAMIC cart. Using manual power can clear it, but I get a huge nasty hit in in the clear pull. Put it down, then not long later, CLOGGED again. Looking down through the mouthpiece, NO light, with a totally clear path, you can see all the way through the cart. After FLOSSING from the bottom, clog is gone, and has not come back. Of course it could eventually clog again, but working great so far. I’ve read a lot of speculation on how these clogs develop, using breath activation, too high/low heat settings, not clearing after a draw, etc. etc. I have not been able to determine the root cause of clogs, but flossing is quick and easy so far.

So, there are a gazillion ccell batteries out there for use with 510 oil/wax carts, and now that my state has gone legal I think I need to have one for when a cart makes the most sense (like super stealth uses). I thought about asking in the Concentrate thread but I think that would just muddy it up, so now we have this thread.
What are the most favored batteries for 510 carts? Vessel, Silo and PCKT Plus One all seem to get a lot of love. Are they the leaders among users, or just marketers?
Flowermate and Starry max are nice and dependable.

I ended up getting the YoCan Uni Pro and have been very happy with it. I only use carts when I am trying to be stealthy (around the uninitiated) as I really do prefer flower, but it is simple to operate and control. I took it with me to visit my brother in Tennessee and it helped me out a lot... ;)

It's funny, I just bought a battery and some adapters to run cartridges for some similar reasons as others (stealth, speed, etc.). I just don't always have time to dab or load and vape flower. Glad I found this thread!

Rusty, is this part of your state or province medical program? I don't have access to anything like this, but medicine by mail seems pretty great.

I used to carry around a bulky ecig mod with a custom Arctic Fox profile/curve just for cartridges because

So, I just kind of did this myself, lol. I've been wanting a DTV4 as a backup anyways, and figured I could run carts on it as well. I mean, the Pico or whatever ineedhemp sells is able to run most anything it seems. Was thinking of getting one of the dry herb mods as well... any of them perform well?

I will have to think about getting a dedicated battery for carts, and the uni pro seems like the go-to. I just like the idea of one battery to rule them all :)
