If I understand it correctly, Boundless was the first to stop selling while they started looking into it. They simultaneously empowered the retailers to do as they saw fit, which led to the recalls. I see no fault in anyone’s response so far.

Boundless stopped selling the Tera over a month ago, it was only the retailers who still had it available, and it was in stock up until today when they have all decided to remove it from their respective websites altogether. I assume either an announcement from Boundless is to follow now, or that none is coming so the retailers decided not to wait any longer and avoid putting themselves and customers at risk.

Honestly, when I started to post my observations and contacted Eric and the retailer I bought from, I could only hope that everyone test their unit prior to using it. We need to be cautious what we're in inhaling and this is something we'd inhale deep and regularly... No good, toxic.
Thanks @Boundless Vape Technology, Randy, POTV, Namaste and everyone involved for taking actions on this urgent matter and recalling all units. This is the only safe thing to do until the flaws have been actually detected and ironed out. Play it safe, people!

Hi guys, I am just a new member not really updated regarding the world of vaporizers, so please be patient with me and with my silly questions.

I was taking in consideration to get my first convection portable vaporizer.
The 100% convection heating IS a point for me.

I was into the CFV, but then I saw the new Tera has been released.
Checking the latest regarding the Tera I discovered this thread and all the off-gassing issues related to first Tera batch.

Now, what would you suggest to a newbie like me?
Should I go back to my original idea of getting a CFV, or should I wait until the Tera issues will be solved and the new qualified batches will be available?
Please consider that I’ll only use the vapo at home and the battery life does not have a huge impact on my choice.

Thank you all, I’ll keep following this thread anyway.

Get a CF/X or CFV* if you want a vape sooner rather than later (we don't know the source of the Tera issues, and how away the next shipment of devices may be. And tbh, I assume they've halted production until they know whats going on).

*You'll need to keep it pretty much on charge.

Or, of you wanna spend as little as possible whilst you rethink your options outside of Boundless (Fury2, etc), a VapCap M.

Manufacturing issues happen, but I really hope Boundless learn from this (we're all human, we make mistakes, even when we have the best intentions).

Things I'd like to see changed;
1) From being active in the community before the delays to being [almost] non-existent after and only really appearing when theres been days of speculation. I know they're been busy, but someone should ALWAYS be handling their social media accounts. Specially after a new product release.
2) They'll start doing small BETA tests outside of their company (i.e. maybe sent test units to a few people in the community, be that Randy at PIU and / or Tory(?) at Vapezone420 [HAY U SEXY VAPE BEAST. I know you're here lerking :p ] , etc).
3) The reaction time (and tbh, still ongoing) on the issues with the Tera has been the most damning issue really. Honestly, I think they should have jumped on the first few reports as soon as possible, and reach out personally to those who have been having issues.

Yep. A big one for me too. I’m sure they were just being hopeful it would remain extremely isolated... but to me (even with CHAMPS, or whatever it was that was going on) they shouldve been more concerned and proactive... you know, even if it is for naught... very disappointing...

If this was a PC gaming pad we were talking about, I don't think my third point would have been much of an issue, but seeing as what this device is for, it's not really something you "hope" is isolated. I think when more than 3+ devices from a shipment are problematic, a retailer notice should be posted, along with:

- What they believe the cause is
- Instructions on what to look out for / the option to return the unit for a replacement
- What they'll be do in the future to make sure this doesn't happen again (working with Smiss, not shipping the units straight from the factory to QC by Boundless themselves*, etc)

If a high percentage of devices are reported as defective, then the whole shipment should be on recall.

(I'm pretty sure Boundless should be able to cover themselves financially from these issues if they've outlined defective and product recalls in their SLA's with Smiss, so that Smiss would have to at least absorb some / all of the cost / whatever else is noted in the SLA).

But anyway, all we can do is sit-back and (hopefully) wait for a solution. The issues Boundless have had with past products have been small, been fixed, and not been repeated, so I think it's safe to assume the same will apply here too.

* I feel like I should note that believe that is a massive task to undertake, both is cost and manpower.

If you want costs to increase, this could happen. It's not really a feasible thing to ask employees to clean and do a 10 min + burnoff for each device without a decent cost to the manufacturer/end user though
Yeah, sure it will add costs, but how many returns does it actually prevent, too...? nevermind the consumers health, what could it cost your entire business reputation...?

Very good point. A little extra cost up front could have saved them tons of money paying to ship back and replace tons of units. Not to mention the hit their reputation is taking. If the Tera had launched with no issues, I think it would be flying off shelves right now. It is the right design, form factor, and feature set for the market, but cost cutting along the way will lead to enormous costs that they didn’t predict regarding restocking, replacement, shipping, etc. for this recall.

I trust they will make it right, but I wish the Tera was graced with a more seamless release.

As I've said before, Boundless (I hope) has an SLA (its written in the contract) in place that migrate the cost from them to Smiss. This provides Smiss with a "intensive" to provide products that meet the clients standards and needs.

For example (and I do not know the level of SLA!!! No one knows the term of the contract!) the SLA for something like this COULD be;

In the event of a defective shipment (above the agreed upon ratio. ALL products have the potential for defects. It happens, NOTHING is perfect.), Smiss will absorb ALL costs, and provide a discounted rate on the next shipment or whatever. This helps shift the "pressure" from Boundless to Smiss to make sure they provide a good product and service

I don't believe there is an international law or anything, and the Chinese government are kinda known for not really caring about Western Laws / civil matters anyway, so you'd never win in court (why counterfeits are easy to come by in China), but it helps if things like these are already pre-agreed by the two parties, as you have something to refer back to and say "well, you did agree to it".

I am NOT trying to shift the blame to Smiss, shit happens, but releasing a new product around CNY has never been a good idea, no matter what business your in.

Some say that's just bullshit (like the Monday / Friday car, which are mostly machine automated anyway), but you've most likely never had to do Business in China. Most Western Company's write off December (Western Holidays) til March (Chinese Holidays) for this very reason... Most places in the West are closed two days a year (Christmas and New Years Day). It's pretty much the same in China, but they get around 2 weeks off (yanno, because they work hard and long hours the rest of the year!) in February.

It's not like Boundless keeps making the same mistakes. I hope they learn for this (and maybe move their product release dates), because as people have said (when they've got a good one), the Tera is a good vape, at a good price. They know what they (and we) want in a vape, they're just learning what it's like to work with an Eastern company (or any company that produces something for you to sell). It's not easy.

I do kinda of think this may be getting a bit off topic now. All we are doing is assuming (which is never good). All we can do is wait and see what comes next (which is hopefully a fix, and a release, and we'll all be happy Boundless users again :p ).

Well this sucks.. I guess reviews and mods are on hold until Boundless speaks up

If I mod it now I can't put the MacGyver theme, I'd have to put something else.. maybe Renegade? :lol:

The thing i don't get is smiss has iso 9001 certification which should prevent such fuck ups if implemented correct and not just pro forma...

Now that we're waiting for new shipments and screw ups to be fixed, lets get some discussions going. Anyone that has a working Tera, what would you change about it?

LED screen placed awkwardly when on a rig


I know I find myself wanting a little more heat retention in the bowl during sessions. It milks really well but after each hit I take about 30 seconds which is enough for the bowl to cool down more than I'd like. Maybe the CFX 2 will fix that part for me with variable conduction but hopefully it keeps the same airflow as the Tera which is awesome.

I have been involved in the development of iso 9k, 14k, 19k over 15 years ago ;) the car industry was a mayor force in that and forced it on their suppliers... Most small and middle companys couldn't stand the extra certification costs in the beginning, but in the long run it saves many 'monetary units'

That recall was from puffitup. My device is working as intended. I've taken it apart anyways and put it together again so I doubt they'll want it back. If everything is aligned inside and there is no off gassing, why would you send it back? They arent all defective.
