I use a degummed hemp fiber filter screen sandwich in my Vapcap. Screen, filter, then another screen. The filter cools the vapor into a smooth hit while filtering out tiny particulate that could irritate the lungs. The additional benefits is a very clean air path and way less cleaning.

Here is a link to the way I fashion a filter.

If you make the hemp fiber filter too thick, it will restrict the draw.
With some practice, you can spin it thinner and thinner, where it does not restrict.
It does not need to be thick, just enough loose layers to catch those nasty micro ABV particles.

I use organic cotton filters in the airpath of all of my vapes. A $3 bag of organic cotton is a lifetime supply. Makes a world of difference: smoother hits, cleaner vapes, cleaner lungs, and cleaner glass if youre using any. In my vapcap I simply put a disc of cotton between the tip and the body, very fast and easy to do, and I change it every 2 sessions. I make sure not to make the filter too thick or big, so I dont cut down too much on draw resistance.

Does the filter not collect THC or any of the other goodies we are wanting??

I don't know, maybe. All I know for sure is that a filter smooths the vapor considerably and removes irritating particles that otherwise make their way into your lungs and dirties up your vape airpath.

Using a filter has eliminated throat and lung irritation and coughing is now a thing of the past.

I microdose and vaping a tiny amount of bud gets me just as high with or without a filter but the comfort in the experience is game changing for me.

So, maybe some of the good stuff gets caught in the filter but It's not enough to notice a lack of effect.

Just wondering if anyone uses a cotton-hemp filter in their stem. Guess I am talking about devices like the arizer air. but I guess would work with any vape where you can place cotton in the chamber.

If I vape at higher temperatures it makes me cough a lot. Maybe I am getting some particles in my lungs. Thought a cotton filter can help?

Any ideas? Have you tried this?

High temps bother me too. I try to vape at the lower ranges if possible. I've tried the cotton/hemp thing, but I prefer a water tool. I vape with water about 75% of the time. Anymore when I think I might like a vape I take all this into account before I purchase.

I really don't know much about the air, I've never used one. But fiber in some of the more restrictive vapes might be problematic and cause too much restriction. If you find that's a problem perhaps you could try it with water.

As mentioned already mouth hits might help. Your mouth cools the vapor a bit before it hits your throat and lungs.

I have tried using the arizer air and desktop attached to a bong with their Glass on Glass attachements which is nice. Still cant vape at really high temperatures but water does help filter particles. Going to try the hemp filter just need to get to the Smoke store when I get the time. I am wondering if it is the temperature , the particles going into my lungs or both?

As has been mentioned in the forum earlier, by more than one... 100% cotton (it will say so ion the package) is a cleaner vape, and can be used with less concern of high heat causing disintegration of materials.
I have used pure degummed hemp, and it wears out in 1/2 the time as does the cotton gotten from bags of swabs, Q-Tips, and Medicine bottle cotton topping.
I swear by 100% cotton for quality and higher temperature potential with the least damage and no char.

I would only trust organic cotton. Cotton as a crop, since its not for human consumption, is heavily sprayed with pesticides. Organic cotton is slightly more expensive but probably safer.

Use 100% ORGANIC cotton only! Just make sure it says organic on it. I had some hemp fiber from dynavap but it was too stringy and smelled like crap......

does cotton up the temperature of what your vaping?
No it does not, unless you make the cotton too well packed, in which case with convection vaping would restrict the draw... making the air move slower, which in turn can make the load hotter.
I use any cotton balls that are packaged with the logo:

Once processed and in a bag, the cotton has been completely cleaned, bleached, and is inert.... and is safe.
If overly cautious person is afraid, they can buy a box of cotton rolled in paper, sold for medical reasons.
It has been approved for hospital use, and contact with open wounds.... also safe, but puts to rest concerns of contaminants.

My degummed hemp fiber from Dynavap is lovely and has no smell what so ever. I wind it into tiny disks to make filters. It is a wonderful product but it's not fluffy like cotton batten balls.

If you're has a scent, you must have received a bad bit. I hope you let them know so that they could make it right. They have really wonderful customer service.

I got the stuff from a accessory pack, but it was from 10 months ago. Opened it up the other day and found this smell issue.

But for now, my uses are easily covered with the organic cotton.

And for informational purposes only...
Not discouraging those that are interested in going with organic cotton.
The main thing to avoid at all costs are those products that do not display the logo and use
other names as the label name. (Cosmetic puffs, Cottony balls, Cosmetic Pads).
When I want to have very well treated cotton, I get rolls of the medical grade cotton.
You can look at those here: https://www.walgreens.com/store/c/first-aid-sterile-absorbent-cotton
(I fluff this product a bit before use)
Trader Joe's sells Organic cotton Balls, also Whole foods, Sunflower Markets.

Love my dynavap fiber. Its all I use. Tastes is neutral unless you over heat it. Really shines for me.
