Looking for some advice from the experts..Been happy w Solo for quite a while now. Bought plenty of attachments and bubbler that have kept me in a blissful state for daze. Though, now the VAS has bitten me once again and looking for something new.

Searching for something 250 and under that's portable, packs a punch but efficient, doesn't emit much smell, smooth vapor and as reliable as Solo. Any recs out there? Thankx

Hey man, I can definitely relate to getting bitten by the VAS bug.

Here are some suggestions that would come in about $60-100 cheaper than $250:

http://fuckcombustion.com/threads/firewood-vaporizer.9306/ - Firewood v3. portable convection. runs about $150

http://fuckcombustion.com/threads/boundless-cfx-vaporizer.20584/ Boundless has a few vapes, all are mostly conduction. these vapes are probably the most similar to the solo of my suggestions. this is also a relatively new vape, so it's long term durability is unknown at this point. about $150

http://fuckcombustion.com/threads/the-lotus-vaporizer.2595/. the lotus. heat source is a butane torch. a power house. also around $150

the suggestion around $250 or exceeding is the Venus Apollo
http://fuckcombustion.com/threads/the-venus-apollo.17905/ - portable convection from a halogen bulb. its also really pretty IMO.

good luck deciding

If you don't need a portable: underdog (my favorite) or enano.
Otherwise: Haze v3; Boundless CFX (should be available in a week or the CF which is available now)
You might try the Dynavap for $30 and if you like it get one with a wood stem. Butane but simpler than most other butane vapes.
Then there's the Air
I think most vapes I either own or have heard recommended are either above your limit (mighty) or below it (CF). People are comparing the CFX to the mighty and it's a good price.
Other than the Air, the ones I listed have a representative or manufacturer on FC who gives almost immediate help. I've found that makes a difference when I have a question or a problem. The Haze has a 10 year warranty.

Avoid flowermate.
