Cutting Glass Slide

Hey Guys, so my roommate kicked our 100ML mini Roor water pipe, and he ordered a new Roor slide. However the slide is too long for the water pipe. Is it possible to DIY cut the slide so it will fit the water pipe? I would like to avoid having to ship it back to Canada for an exchange. Thanks!

Jack of all trades, master of none.
This may be possible but you really run the risk of cracking the downstream.

Get one of these

To make a truer line around the stem you could wrap two lines of tape around the stem for guidance. Then heat the stem at the score line using a candle or lighter or hot water. Then put the stem under cold water. Switch it back and forth until the two side separate.

You can get diamond cutters for cheap at dx.com. I bought a medical grade tube that had 14mm male ends and bought a set of blades from dx and cut the thing in half to make 2 glass stems for my Underdog. You will need a torch so you can round off the ends, otherwise they'll end up cracking easily. Youtube may help.

For best results, use a glass tubing cutter like this. Same principle as other cutters mentioned. Use this to score a line around the tube. Then place a bamboo skewer under the tube near the line. Then press firmly on the other side and it should break cleanly.
