    Tooling for plastic injection molding isn't nearly as cheap as woodworking labor where these are made. It's not the material cost, it's the total cost for the production line.

    The issue isn't the ceramics, but the binders used to apply them in the coating. Like woodworking with MDF... It's just sawdust until you remember how bad the glue that holes the dust together is.
