what kind of batteries are good? i had some powered 2600 or so and they seem to have died after about 8 months. is that normal? looking for very reliable long term use batteries from experienced users.

i think that straw might be a bad idea. the glass, wood, and acrylic stem all get very hot inside the box and the straw is bound to melt.
