I just finished putting mine together my black walnut/bison kit. I enjoyed it. My only question is will the walnut darken over time? Mine seems lighter than the pictures of other ones I've seen. Either way, I really like it.

Does the "old wood" have marbling and grain patterns like the myrtlezaps in the earlier pages of the thread?

The first one is ambrosia maple and the second is spalted. Ambrosia maple is really an interesting wood, the dark spots are caused by fungus inside holes bored by the ambrosia beetle. I've been looking for a nice piece of fancy walnut but can't find anything with the right dimensions that's...

Yeah... I've noticed that a lot of these are a bit rough at the bottom where the leather's attached. How come? Is it hard to make it smooth or something?
