@justcametomind - sorry about your dropped Bowle, but the heater coil is not directly above pot, it's encased within a ceramic insulated ring above pot. A permanent screen is directly above pot, with a thermocouple wire across it, which can get dislodged or misaligned by nudging/brushing screen...

I think update should be done while plugged in and charging. No worries about timeouts -- when plugged in, the connection establishes even if unit is off Unfortunately, S&B didn't include this hint on their firmware updating instruction page. This is probably more important than doing a reset...

I also miss that satisfying sound and feel of the original stem insertion, wondering if it's an intentional design change to reduce insertion wear skid marks? @letter never sent -- I have both. Don't use the original any longer. Series II is an improved experience, slightly easier draw, fewer...
