I haven't used the mini vap but I put the Guru a little ahead of other conduction & glass combos like the Air and Solo. Never anything alien in the taste... no plasticsy aftertaste, just the flavors of the marijuana.... and that's using it without the water pipe!

So about two weeks in and the Guru has become my daily driver! Taste is killer and no real complaints!
