I've gotten the tube to go over a 14.4 male joint (about the same as the tube). I used some scissors on the inside to stretch the end. After getting it on the first time it goes on a lot easier.

Could someone help me out, what are the high points of the diffusion pump? Is it mostly suited for dabs, or would it be good for vapor too? The functionality of that piece confuses me a bit just going off the videos

Thankfully the SSV tube fits right over the male piece =) The female 14.4 joint works too but doesn't get the same seal. I was kind of annoyed at first but now I actually prefer it.
