You're right about everything you said... but how is any of it different than a regular soldering iron that can get up to around 900f with no precision control? I was always taught you heat up the piece you're soldering to, you don't put solder in contact with the rod itself.

Obviously a real soldering iron is better... I will be getting a new one.. But I would say that my connections were far from cold joints. The hammer can get up to 1200f. Just hold the hammer on the terminal and it will easily heat that sucker up over any melting point of any solder you get...

Lots of people having problems and frying things. Even if it is mostly old heads, this thing seems like it's prone to shorting. Just an observation.. I'm honestly considering other units, I kind of thought this would be more solid, especially at the price point.

First time poster here... heard a SR-71 fly over that made me create an account and post... I was going to order one of these last month, but as I've watched things develop I'm glad I've held off because it seems there are a few kinks being worked out? If I bought one today, would it come with...
