Who's gonna sell vapes in Ohio?

When legalization takes effect here in Ohio in several weeks, there will be mad demand for vaporizers because smoking will still be illegal.

Who's going to sell these vapes? If I went into a headshop today to buy a vape, the person selling me the vape will almost certainly know infinitely less about vapes/vaping than I do; even if they've been smoking for 50 years.

There is currently essentially no herbal vaping culture in Ohio. It's possible to buy a vape in a headshop, but there's not much selection and headshop employees don't currently need to know much or anything about vapes (because they don't sell any). On the day cannabis becomes legal, however, that'll have to change, because almost every new medical user is going to need at least one new vape. And they're going to need a knowledgeable salesperson to sell it to them.

I have to figure almost every headshop in Ohio is going to sell out of vapes on Day 1 of legalization (next month?). Then they're going to have to restock, which will be very difficult for them because they won't have a clue what they'll need to stock (except maybe Volcanos).

After the initial madness, headshops are going to have to have at least one staff member who knows something about vaporizers and vaporizing. Casual vaping knowledge won't be good enough. There are probably only a couple handfuls of people in the whole state with enough vaping knowledge to competently sell vapes. And most of them probably already have a job/career.

In a state where most people don't even know what vaping is, who's going to be able to fill those positions?

I'm thinking there might be a good part-time job available for me in several weeks (if I can physically handle it). I don't consider myself a vaping expert, but I'm way ahead of almost every other Ohioan in vaping knowledge.

This could be interesting.

I haven't seen all the details spelled out and have been wondering whether flower will even be legally available. Because you're right; most people don't even know that herb vapes are a thing. For them, "vaporizing" means ecigs/e-liquids. So when they say the new law allows vaping but not smoking, my suspicion is that they have concentrates/solutions in mind. Has this been cleared up anywhere??

Well, I've seen vaporizers in the one head shop I've been to in the last year or so. This was one day after the governor signed the legislation. They had both types of Volcano and an EQ, in addition to what I guess was a bunch of vape pens. This was minutes after I got out the hospital a couple months ago, after all my stuff had been illegally confiscated (after I broke my femur into at least three pieces). The person working at the headshop knew essentially nothing about vaporizers. She said they don't sell, I think. That's gonna change big-time very soon.

I am!

Not really, but I'm on the East Coast close to Ohio. Where I live, there aren't even any true head shops. I would love to open one, but it's a small area so I would have to be OK with everyone (friends, family, my teachers from high school) knowing what I do. There's one tobacco store that has your standard rolling papers, screens, and cheap pipes but that's it. It does kind of seem like the managers of that store are branching out into selling "paraphernalia".
At one time I thought it would be cool to work there, but the managers kind of blew me off. A couple weeks later there was a new guy working in there. Apparently you have to have a certain look to work in a smoke shop, regardless of the knowledge and service you can provide to the customers. I should ask if they'd consider carrying vapes and become their distributor.. LOL

The same is probably true at a dispensary. People on the forums say they wish budtenders knew more about the product, vaporizers, etc.. I'd probably be great at it, but I don't look like a stoner.

We are. Just tell the sales person about FC, and they can refer customers here. Once I found FC, a whole new world, shipped to my doorstep, opened up. Whenever I see vapes in a head shop, it makes me chuckle how few choices they offer and how little they know.
