How I conserve weed with my vape (10+ highs per 0.1g)

I've been vaping now for three months, during which I've been high 178 times off 2.92 grams in total. I'm pretty mindblown my how little weed it actually takes to get blazed. It may just be my low tolerance, but I think I've nailed a technique which is effective and thought I'd share. This is my first post, so go easy :)

These are some principles which I adhere to while vaping:
1) Vaping the same bowl over multiple sessions (up to 15 sessions)
2) Taking very slow and drawn out hits
3) Keep hitting the vape until the weed has cooled (after turning off vape)
4) Keeping the vapor in my lungs for as long as possible (at least 1 minute)
5) Only doing a single hit per session

Following this method I can get high up to 15 times off 0.1g of quality bud, or up to 5 times per 0.1 g of low grade weed (which is what I mostly vape).

I'm using a flowermate, and the bowl holds up to 0.15g if you pack it loosely, or 0.3g tightly. I'll normally pack around 0.1g, so it's loose and I don't fill it completely.

Here's how I do it in practice:
With dank, on the first session, I turn on the vape until it reaches 200 C and then turn it off immediately. I then take a long, slow 30 second hit. 30 seconds because otherwise the weed will not have cooled down enough for all vapor to have been used up. Slow because otherwise some weed will fly up and stick to the grille on the underside of the mouthpiece obstructing air flow and in turn wasting vapor, turning it into gunk instead.

After the 30 second slow hit I take my mouth off the vape and inhale fully. I then wait for at least a minute before exhaling. Holding it in like that in my experience makes a major difference, despite science telling us it shouldn't. A full minute will get me twice as high as only 10 seconds.

I then wait 15 minutes to gauge the effect, and usually that single hit will be enough to keep my high for a couple of hours.

Then for the next session, I turn on the vape, wait till it's warmed up and start hitting for 5 seconds before I turn it off again while I keep hitting for another 30 seconds. Remember, go slow for max efficiency.

The next few sessions after that, I increase it to 10 seconds before turning off, but remember to keep hitting for another 30 while it's off. Over the next 10 sessions, I gradually increase the amount of time the vape is on while hitting, and when the weed is almost spent and I'm at 30 seconds while on (and of course another 30 while off, and then holding it in for a minute, right?). Finally, before emptying the bowl, I do one or two more 30 second sessions at 210 C.

For lower grade weed, I start out with 10 seconds turned on (instead of 0) and over just a few sessions, I already reach 30 seconds turned on, at which point the weed is spent.

Again I may just have low tolerance/high sensitivity, but I think it's at least worth a trying this the next time you pack a new bowl! Let me know how it goes or what you think about this!

where do they sell lungs like yours ? is there an extension i can buy to plug into mine for maximum perfomance.

are you sure you are getting higher this way & not just buzzed out of air lol

haha! anyways, i think holding it in a bit may help but i also dont hold it in much 1-3 seconds and it gets me pretty stoned. but i see you definately conserving the way you do it...

i just dont know about the holding the air in so much and not letting ozygen get to your head and such.

That's crazy. Even with zero tolerance, two sessions per bowl (3 big hits each session) was my average, in an No2, with just a pinch of ground herb.

Are you new to weed in general, or just vaporizing? If you were taking the one hit, once or twice a week, I could better understand, even though that would still be a stretch, but you said you are vaping more than once a day (~90 days - 178 times), so I wouldn't expect your tolerance to be so ridiculously low.

This. If you've been a regular vaper for longer than two weeks your tolerance should most definitely be higher than that. Even as a fresh new smoker I have a hard time imagining the microdosing you're talking about, not withstanding something like you having some sort of weird genetic disposition towards having an abnormally small tolerance.

I guess it is also a matter of what constitutes "high".

I vape everyday, but I am a tea toddler. I vape tiny amounts of high energy sativas throughout the day, 1 - 2 light tokes every 2 - 3 hours. It is just enough to to keep me productive and happy. No one can tell and I do not think that I am even impaired in any way. I wouldn't even really call it being high, like how high I would need to get to kill pain or treat insomnia. Certainly I am not getting as high as I would get socially when I was young.

That being said, I cannot claim to be anywhere near as conservative with my stash to the degree that you have accomplished.

Good on you!

@juneshayek Welcome to the FC community. Sounds like you have @lwien beat for conserving your stash. Many of us don't want to be "stoned" but free of pain or ease muscle cramping so getting wrecked when I have things to do, just gets in the way of productivity. I do like to get wrecked before bed though so I can sleep for 6 or 7 hours. Some nights are better than others.

I have several different strains, hybrids and Indicas that I like to keep on hand and I live in a legal state. I don't conserve my cannabis and I dump my ABV when there are still lighter flecks left for oils or a tincture. With vaporizing nothing goes to waste.

I think that's great that you are able to microdose like that. Curious if you take the cannabis out of your flowermate between sessions? If you had a vaporizer that had a mouthpiece that used cannabis in the bottom, like a glass stem. You would be able to just remove the stem so your product didn't continue to cook. Like a Solo. Just a thought. It sounds like what you are doing is working for you.

You will find that this community is a warm and friendly place. So glad you were able to find us.

Thanks for your nice comments, everybody. This really does seem to be a very friendly place :)

I keep the weed in the bowl until it's spent, which can be up to a week in some cases. My vape shows the current temperature of the bowl, so I make sure to keep hitting until it's cool enough for me to know that it's no longer cooking.

I also discard my ABV, since I'm already getting more than I want off my weed just vaping it.

I'm pretty sure I'm getting properly high, and that it's not just asphyxiation. I'm new but not that new.

Today, on my second session of a dank bowl, by mistake I took a 10 second hit instead of 5 seconds. Still, I held it in and ended up getting way too high. I was close to panicking and was having trouble remembering how to breath normally. After a while it got better though. I'm sure it's not placebo since that high lasted for five hours, which it only does when I've had too much.

This is exactly the reason why I'm so anal about my dosage. Because it's always been such a thin line between being good high and too high for me.

Haha, yeah!

But seriously, guys, I think holding it in for that full minute makes the difference here. Try it.

Also, holding your breath for a minute isn't bad for you. It's actually good training for your lungs, @CRvapes ;) As for the brain, it would have to go without oxygen for 4 full minutes before there's chance of damage.

On the other hand if you like to enjoy the whole vaping process or don't really need to conserve weed, I can see how all this just seems like jumping through hoops.

I have a very small suggestion @juneshayek on a fresh load try taking your hits at very low temps(like around 350-360). I'm not sure how your flowermate works but if you can set your temp low on the first hit on a fresh load you should be getting the very tastiest of hits with some light Stoney effects. I'd like to know what you think of these highs. Also I'd like to know the staying power of these lower temp hits.
Like most people my tolerance is totally fucked. Meaning it takes me way more to get the effects I'm needing. And I've done this and it does get you high but not wrecked. Good luck and welcome to FC.

When I take a draw I just timed myself and it's about 20 seconds after that I hold my draw about 5 or 6 seconds. I've read where after 5 seconds you aren't getting anymore medicine.

Often if you hold your breath for a minute you suffer from some oxygen deprivation and a feeling of a light headed feeling. I don't think I would be able to take a 20 second draw then hold my breath for 60 seconds. I would pass out I'm afraid. I'm in my late 50s and been a cannabis user since I was a teenager.

It sounds like you have it figured out for yourself but it might not work for everyone.

There's a technique I think it came from @lwien (somewhere here on FC) where you take a draw then hold it in for several seconds then you let just allow some of the vapor out also you take a breath then after a few more seconds you let more vapor out. You do that process until all the vapor has been expelled from your lungs. How quickly you do that is up to you. I'm not explaining it very well. I'm giving @lwien a shout out.

There are threads that talk about draw style. Good luck on you journey to fuckcombustion.

Edit
Thank you @lwien for explaining my half assed description of your technique. Thank you for being on FC right now.;)

Actually, it's more of a re-breathing technique, CK. I'll take a full hit, hold for about 7 seconds, let a little out and then take in another lungful of air, hold for 7 seconds, exhale a little bit and then take in another lungful of air. That way, I'm re-oxgenating the same hit over and over again. Works for me in maximizing the amount of THC that I can get from a single hit.

I do likewise and did that when smoking herb too. Take it in, and keep the small exhale and new air cycle going. Seems to work well.

June - LOL You must have the world's lowest tolerance. You are going to be making some of the boys and girls very jealous if you keep lording on about this (just pulling your leg, mate).

We do have cannabinoid receptors in our brain. It would appear, without knowing any hard facts, that genetics may well dictate that some have more and/or more sensitive receptors than others. Then there are old guys like me who have been putting my poor tired receptors to the test for dang near 50 years. LOL

Ah, I get it, @CarolKing, @lwien. So basically you're letting that one hit move up and down multiple times, keeping the gas exchange going, that @steama was pointing out. That's really interesting. I think it will make vaping a lot more enjoyable too! I have to try this (somehow without getting too high :)).

Also, @HD Springer, 180 C is a great idea. I have to try that! @yonatanil I usually start a bowl with a 140 C "flavonoid run" which tastes amazing without getting me high. Is 160 C also without effects?

So many amazing suggestions here. People here know a lot of stuff. It's unlike any other forum I've been at!

When I vape, I take a lungful then take an extra deep breath down into the deepest part of my lungs (deeper than I was typically willing to inhale smoke) over several seconds, then release over several seconds, so that I'm not really holding my breath. I held my breath with smoke but this feels more relaxing and seems quite effective.

I believe this is true also. I think a bit more air after the hit helps get the medicine into all areas of the lungs and increases surface area exposure. I also agree with @lwien's method since the constant exchange helps maintain a greater concentration gradient.

However, sometimes things happen that can't be explained by science. If June is feeling high and it feels good then maybe it just happens for June. Don't they say something about how if physics held true then the human being should never be able to hit a pitched baseball?

My tolerance has gone to shit lately. One bowl used to do it, but now a single bowl barely gets me anywhere. I would try this method, but it is too involved for me and I keep enough herb around so I don't need to be this frugal. I conserve enough with my nano and vapcap.

@juneshayek , I do know the balance of good high vs. uncomfortable. I walk that line too and because of this I take other precautions. I vape mostly indicas or indica-dominant hybrids. I also try to vape at higher temps so get a more sedative high. If my hits are too low in temp, then I will get racy effects that lead to uncomfortable highs for me. This is another concern I have in trying your method. But I am happy to hear that it works well for you.

Yeah, I guess individual differences are a major factor. My tolerance hasn't really increased since I started vaping, and I feel really lucky it's that way.

For some reason indica leaning vs. sativa leaning makes absolutely no difference for me. Both feel exactly the same. Yesterday I was tripping balls (again), with intense racing feelings due to a little "overdose" from trying @lwien's method. That was blue cheese, which is supposed to be very indica heavy, yet it was the headiest high and I couldn't sleep before 5 AM.

Last week my bowl was loaded with chem valley kush, which is supposed to be sativa leaning, yet I remember most sessions on that bowl being very body-centered, basically because I nailed the dose. For me, the heady effects really kick in with heavier doses, while lower doses give me a nice body high, regardless of weed type. But I guess that's a topic for another thread..

imho just about anything out of the ordinary can influence your state of mind irregardless of inducement so if holding your breathe beyond a normal amount produces a change in your mind or feeling it should interact with your hits just perhaps not in the way you think. the slow small hit + re-breathing ive found to be most efficient for requiring less (and hence stretching your stash).

tolerance can creep in for micro dose users (present) and simply changing the routine and frequency for a bit on occasion is enough to maintain that "sweet spot". i look at this as balance and not control.

I'm getting super high on 160C, never tried 140C and I will try (even today haha, just got back from work and the party begin!).
160C considered to be a temperature where the medical effects of cannabis at its peak on the large amount of symptoms.

So you believe you're getting high on 0.01 grams of weed each time?
I'd say I wish I had such low tolerance but I actually think it'd be bad to have tolerance that low haha.

Would you also happen to be the kind of guy to get drunk off one sip of beer?
