I just saw a link to this at Vape Life Forum and watched it. I think Bud is doing both FF and its customers a great service. I do find Bud to be believable, honest, and pretty objective overall.

A few things I learned from that video:
FF2 uses algorithms that change the how the heater heats as you draw
What this means to me is that these algorithms should be able to be changed and updated through software updates in the app. The rumors of a dry herb "Ripper" heat setting should be very possible for Firefly to program and update into the app.
Specifically the video mentions that the concentrate setting is already programmed with a heating curve that delivers more of a steady hot heat then the dry herb settings. This means Firefly could easily apply a similar heating curve at a lower temperature for a dry herb setting that would cause more constant vapor.
You can see if the bottom of the bowl is clogged by heating up the FF2 in the dark and letting the glow show you if there are any clogged holes. If there are you can clean it by blowing it out with canned air
This vape isn't for everyone, but I think it was made just for me
I think this vape was especially tailored for me, a lot of the negatives that I hear people saying about this vape don't bother me at all.
- You have to draw slowly- I prefer longer slower draws even on my other vapes that don't require them. I enjoy the deep breathing part of taking a long draw and doing a long exhale.
- Your technique determines your vapor production- I like having control over the vapor production based on how I want to draw.
- The bowl is small- I like the smaller bowl for efficiency and usually partake in solo sessions or would just pack each friend their own bowl.
- It works "better' with concentrates- That's what I plan to use it for primarily with the option for dry herb.
- You have to stir- Not a big deal for me, I've intentionally stirred using other vapes because it usually leads to better performance in general.
- The window gets dirty fast- Cleaning it is so easy this isn't remotely a concern for me personally.
- It requires an app- I'm into technology and never without my phone so this is actually a plus for me
Very excited for whenever I finally receive this vape!

Can you buy extra screens for the FF2 mouthpiece? Those things are so tiny and easy to lose, I can't believe they don't package extra ones with the vape.
I think you can only buy a full mouth piece replacement. Someone else on here cut a new screen out of a regular pipe screen.

I recently got into the concentrate pads about 2 months ago on my FF1 and of course loving concentrates on my FF2.
10-15 sessions seems to get the pad really sticky and full of residue. In my opinion this is when it starts to affect flavor when loading new concentrates.
Does anyone know how long you can make the concentrate pads last? I know FF does not recommend cleaning them, but curious if anyone has every tried.
Or any tips on extending use of the pad?

Honestly, put in a little bowl and covered with ISO. Soaked for 30 min or so and rinsed with warm water. Air dry...just loaded a nice piece of rosin...seems to be like new. I love my FF2!!!
Having become weak and weary during my time in pre-order purgatory for the GH, I have succumbed to a case of VAS and also ordered the FF2. Both now have estimated delivery of June. However, I am infinitely more optimistic that I will actually get the FF2 in the stated time frame.

Ha! Not so sure my wife likes that I just bought a Grasshopper too. Oh well, she'll forget I spent money on it when I get it in 4 - 12 months
FF1 was my daily driver for almost a year and I wasn't sure how much better FF2 would be. Battery is better as others have said, but the all glass vapor produces the coolest and best tasting vapor I've had on a portable. Worth the upgrade for the vapor quality from FF1 along with some other improvements.
Since they don't sell FF1 anymore, I'm just going to hold on to it for a bit and sell it on eBay for $100 or something.
So the vapor quality is noticeable better between the ff1 vs the ff2? Cooler mostly?

@slick I think it is. Not sure how to exactly explain it yet, but the Firefly 2 is really good at extracting your materials. I'm getting much more medicated. I've used these same strains on my FF1 and Pax 2 and while still getting high, FF2 does it with less material.
Perhaps the cooler vapor is allowing me larger draws that weren't possible on the FF1. Maybe it's the slightly larger bowl. Not sure, but god damn I'm high. Clean hits that medicate you like a bong rip.

My plan was to try iso soaking and agitate, then boil them and agitate, then iso soak while warm and agitate, then boil again and agitate, then let them dry and hopefully they'd be clean like new. Dunno how well it'll work but if that doesn't do it idk what will.

what about torching a pad to clean it (do not attempt while high)? you'd think the residue would turn to ash before the steel got damaged...

It is not cooler (as has been mentioned elsewhere in this thread). FF1 is noticeably cooler (I thought it might be me, but the designer himself has confirmed most users find the 1 a little cooler).
There's been much speculation as to the cause of this delta between 1 and 2....my best guess is the 2 uses a glass lid surface and the 1 is stainless steel. Perhaps the difference in materials is responsible for the perceived vapor temp difference.
Make no mistake, the FF2 produces the coolest vapor of any portable (IME) other than the FF1. As for actual flavor aside from coolness, the 2 is outstanding and the equal of FF1.

Do not torch the steel. It will withstand it but it will oxidize and you don't want to inhale that.
This could be fixed very easily by Firefly if they choose to offer a similar pad but grade 2 TI.
OR if they want to hit it OUT OF THE FUCKING PARK (you listening guys), they would make a silica carbide dish that fits in the bowl. I'd pay $30+ for that personally. Anyone who has dabbed off a SIC dish would agree. Another option would be a quartz dish that fits in there. Easy and quick to make, cheaper than ti and definitely cheaper than sic.
IMO now that I am thinking about it, their concentrate bowl is the least advanced thing on this vape. I love my vape, I love firefly, but they fucked up choosing stainless. They focus on purity and flavor. Choose a material that is in line with the rest of the vape. At least make higher quality options available. Stainless tastes good, but I know for a fact sic or quartz would taste much much better, and you can torch clean both instantly.
This vape is far better at concentrates than FF1. Its a solid contender. I won't be using any shitty pens or anything now that I have this for oil. Its actually finally a vape that does both bud and oil well. If I'm going to be using it more often for oil, I want a better oil pad material asap. I'm sure they could be made easily and quickly just a flat quartz disk.

I am a light user and sometimes I like to burn small amounts in one sitting instead of milking a full bowl throughout the day.
I think it would be awesome if they made some sort of bowl/dish that reduced the size of the bowl. Like just some type of ring to put in the bowl that makes it have less diameter.
Basically a one hitter attachment. A bowl the size/diameter of pencil eraser...

It's been a couple of weeks since I got my blue FF2 and color me sold... except for a few points, I love the device. Here's my take:
I'm getting the hang of using the FF2 and am getting effective results. Mild to moderate clouds and getting effectively medicated.
Great tasting and wonderfully cool hits.
Build quality is nice, though despite using a case I have got two very, very small scratches on the painted area of the top plate. I would have liked a more resilient finish on something that should in my opinion, readily survive (relatively unscathed) life in a pocket. **Side note** I'd love to see unpainted covers to become available. As an artist I would jump at the chance to make some custom tops.
The app is snazzy, but can be a bit of a pain. As it's been brought up here it's key to remember to have Bluetooth on AND GPS activated PRIOR to open the app. Why GPS is necessary is beyond me. Additionally, my battery level indicator is not showing accurately. Basically it indicates full, no matter what. Perhaps this has been discussed. I've got something of a backlog of posts to read.
My Main beef so far is the chemical taste that I detect when using HIGH temp at the end of the herb's service life, when wringing that last bit out. I put the flavor akin to what I would assume taking a hit through a brand new laptop would taste like. The chemical taste is undeniable. It originally struck me as tasting like the odor of uncured 2 part acrylic resin. However, I'm curious as to if it's from the foam rubber (or the adhesive below) that frames the vapor path. Perhaps the FF@ was truly rushed to market, before some of it's components could fully cure. Is is enough to make me shelve the FF2? Well, Every time I get that taste, I can't help but wonder in the back of my mind, if this material is carcinogenic, an endocrine disruptor, etc. But no, I continue using it. The taste has diminished over time and I haven't felt too terribly exposed. I have used binary components (urethane rubbers and foam, various resins, silicon, etc. for years, as well as some very nasty shit (fiberglass comes to mind) and I'm fairly (I hope) savvy when it comes to avoiding toxic exposure.
Anyway, for me the FF2 is a game changer. I can now effectively, relatively covertly, and enjoyably get medicated at will. Micro doses on my walk home from the train have been wonderful. I really like the mindset I find myself when walking in the door.

Have you tried the concentrate pad? Put in a microload and put the pad firmly on top. See if that works for you.
Yes it's been discussed....I think most of us have noticed this. I hope to get more info on this later in the week, but I know FF are aware of it. FWIW my GPS doesn't get pinged when the app is in use....using low power Bluetooth should avoid GPS functions (like Location Services in iOS).
That is weird, and something I haven't noticed in either FF2 I've used. I wonder if there's something specifically going on with your FF.

So here is an example of why app only is bad. My phone had hardware failure today. It will be until wednesday to get the replacement under warranty. Good thing the vape was on medium high. My pax 2 which is my backup is out for warranty right now. If the phone broke when the FF2 was on concentrate mode, then what...no vaping flower until I got a phone?
Not a typical scenario, but it would be very cool if they can add an alternative way to at least switch between say concentrate mode and a "fave temp" or something without a phone.
