So have been trying pressing some different grade hashish, and I have a quick question.
If the hash has impurities in the form of vegetable oils, how does this reflect in the rosin made?
Why do I ask, I simply cannot believe the returns I am getting... Average floating around 50%, making this from not the highest grade by far...
I had luck last weekend when some friends made it over here with some old charas from India. We decided to press it... This was the most psychedelic oil I have ever had. More thc-v? Who knows. Returns in this where 80%,leaving us all with our jaws open...
I am using 50micron ss screens for pressing, and an still using an old bench screw and a hair iron(edit: the irons heating plates just cracked damned...still best 30euros invested in a long time hihi).

How much relative force do you have to put into the handle? Body weight, or less? Yours is a 1 ton right? I think the ratio on the gear/pinion is around 20:1 on most of these. I really like the arbor press form factor for the small size and ergonomics, and your mods are pretty sweet.So, I settled on aluminum. This baby kicks butt. I'll get pics of inner workings later. I'm busy using it lol.
A 50mm long 50mm diameter rod of aircraft spec aluminum was loaded on a lathe. And 2/3rd the length was turned to 16.15mm then half of that was turned down and threaded. The 50mm face was cut square and filed smooth. This was repeated to make 2 screw in plates that would be heated by "16mm" e-nail coils that were snug on the middle 16.15mm section. Two shields were fashioned from aluminum pipe that was notched on an end mill to allow the coil lead to exit. These also function as compression limiters for the edges of the plates. They are held in place by the contact of the heat plate when tightened. The ram of the arbor was loaded in the lathe and faced square then drilled and tapped to allow the top plate to screw in. A 4mm stainless steel plate was drilled and loaded in the lathe and turned into a 55mm circle. This goes between the top heat sheild and the ram end to allow the shield to tighten. A section of 10mm aluminum plate was shaped, drilled and tapped for the bottom heat plate and drilled and countersunk to allow it to be mounted to the press via the arbor spindle hole which I tapped. As I owned an e-nail I needed a second so made one from parts on Amazon for pennies.

It depends on the dimensions of the plates, the surrounding shroud/covers, the composition of each of these parts and temps used etc. It would probably be easier to ask which straighteners can be used with an irwin clamp without breaking.
Can you give me a suggestion?I suppose titanium but i would like to use a remington and their all ceramic.I plan on using the plates outside the straightener melted into the irwin clamp so i can apply more pressure just not sure they will crack with the force that the irwin clamp will have.

Last evening my wife was out with some of her friends and I managed to get a bit drunk at home alone. Next think you know I'm thinking of this thread and I get out her hair straightner. It took a few times to get it right but wow I made concentrate!! Holy smokes did it get me stoned. Today I'll read through this thread and see if I can perfect my technique.

The Flowers just weren't doing it for me tonight. Hitting vape after vape not getting relief.
Took the same miscellaneous flowers, about 2-3 vape packs worth, and pressed it out in a few minutes.
Instant dabs and relief.

I just made some 3-strain rosin... NYPD (New York Pineapple Diesel) plus J-1, and some Cherry Pie thrown in for good measure. Pre-pressed into a coin, then pressed out and collected. Made a little rosin patty, pulled her off, and threw her on top of a nice little NYPD nug... Then I threw that into the little jar of Gorilla Glue #4 kief I had left over. Result: 4 strain cannabis caviar nugget.

Just stopping past to say how awesome rosin. I loaded my last dab into the new omicron and the battery went flat. No big deal just squish another one out. Plug in the hash camp and 3 minutes later I've got a beautiful glob to dab. If it was bho it would take me that long to get all the stuff out.

I always have a little oil left on the edges of my pucks. I dip them in 190 everclear to get any oil off the pucks and I discard them. There is a rosin chip thread in the concentrate section worth reading.. You can grind and vape them, I usually get a hit or two. You can wash them, turn them into edibles. There is definitely still some goodness left in the pucks.

I really doubt it, i actually eventually broke my 600lb irwin clamp before breaking any plates. I have switched over to the vice grip 11SP, more pinpoint pressure, and still no broken plates.
How much more yield do you usually get from those vice grips?

15-25%, depends on the strain. i think i am gettting about 3-5% more than i did with the quickgrip. I know one strain the most i measured was about 19% before , and i got 24% with my new clamp last measure on it.
It's the *only* way I mess with rosin lol
