i got a easy vape digital a couple of weeks ago..first vape ever - thought about it for years, but no personal experience, so i bought a cheap easy vape digital on ebay for 60$.. and i have definitely converted to vaping full time.. the few times i have smoked with friends since, the smoke taste was overwhelming..

the easy vape seems to work ok.. i usually set it between 340 and 360.. the whip seems to require quite a bit of herb to work good though, and i am to a point i dont need anymore before it is all gone.. and if i shut it off and come back later, the herb wont produce any more vapor. as a result, i love vaping, but i am going through more herb then normal..

i see allot about the DBV and SSV.. i also like what i have read about the herbalaire 2.1 being so efficient and gets every bit of vapor out..

i am goin to use this unit mostly by myself, at home.

any suggestions of which of these or possibly a different unit would be best? requirements are good solo use - efficient - able to conserve herb- works good

also, if i save some money up and wanted to spend it, is a volcano worth the money? if it is actually worth it, thats the way id go.. otherwise, i a ssv is what i have been leaning towards.. also, if i was to get two, a ssv?? for wand, and a different one for bags, would the herbalaire 2.1 be the one to get? or is there a better bag unit then the herbalaire besides the volcano? thanks for any info

Personally I like the Purple Days more than the MyrtleZap because of the wood, but the Myrtlezap fits your needs and the waiting period is definitely not 9 weeks.

If you save money up I would recommend a Purple Days or MZ with a DBV or SSV. I have the PD/DBV combo. Use a EHLE Bong with the DBV and get Monster Hits and then use the PD to maintain. PD is also great for trips to the movies and out and about with the car adapter.

I am a solo smoker. I find I go thru almost the same amount per week vaping now as I did smoking. I get an extra 2-3 days before I have to refill.

I'm an MZ'er and it's a real treat to use it.

PD or MZ? I don't think you can go wrong whatever you choose. Probably it comes down to aesthetics more than anything... and maybe delivery time. You can get the MZ within a week I think.

Rick said he's got some cool wood right now, and you can see a pic of my MZ over on the AZ/MZ thread (post #409).

In my view the vapes that best vaporizer small amounts of weed with a good air to vapor ratio is the Myrtlezap and PD.

If you can keep usage to 1 stem than it is a great economy vape but if you vape more than 1 stem a session then it is on par with the usage of just about any other desktop vape.

I own a DBV a DBV and want for no other but you also mention the herbalaire so I ask, do you want direct draw? Do you want bags? do you want both?

Let us know what type of vaporizer you are looking for and we can better assist you. If you not real sure about vaping check out the videos on my sig for some good basic information that may help you decide.

i am new to vaping, but the whip style seems good.. i guess i am more curious about the herablaire and bag style.. i am not against getting one of each.. whip for solo, bag for groups. but i want both to be able to extract all the goodness with a relative easy learning curve.. i will look at the pd and the mz. is the ssv better or worse then the pd/mz.. is there a better bag unit then the herbalaire for the $$..

Multivaperizers (bags + direct/assisted draw) are more consistent in vapor to air ratio per draw off of the bag, but a direct draw vape is more user controlled capable of stronger to weaker draws based on your preference and manner of drawing. Ive used a bag vape only 3 times, all from 3 different extremes. I would be happy with it but for my style I am all about the Da Buddha Vaporizer for my personal choice.

For bag/multipurpose vapes check out the extreme vaporizer, herbalair and a new vaporizer called the zypher. The extreme and herbailair are considered to be very similar and zypher is too new to have many reviews but it looks very promising and worth a look. If I was in the market for a bag vape, it would be on my radar along with the two I mentioned.

For whip vaporizers, check out the SSV, Da Buddha, Vapor Bros, Warez 3/4g if you can find it - its discontinued but its warranty is said to still be honored and it is a known quality vape.

For smaller bowl vapes, I suggest the Myrtlezap and Purple Days vaporizers. These two vapes excel at vaporizing small quantities and if a little will do you, these are outstanding vapes to consider. I do recommend that you read these threads, lots of great information in the early pages.

Is what I recommend is that you select a vaporizer that best suits your needs. It is easy to get caught up in the hype, glitter and the bells and whistles of various vaporizers that one can loose sight of what they really want. A vaporizer that best suits your needs.

If your looking for a party vape I would consider the multivaporizers. The extreme direct draw using the included elbow work very well for a good direct draw vape but sadly I have not had the opportunity to try it but I believe it to be so based on the amount of separate reports of using it which can be found throughout the extreme II thread.

hope that helps.

Beezleb, thanks for this post and all your posts.

It's good to have experienced, knowledgeable & articulate folks offering advice. That's what makes FC unique on the web I think.

Beezleb, you sound like you know quite a bit about vapes. So based on what little I have heard about DBV and SSV, I thought the SSV was supposed to be the better vape of the 2. What is it you like so much about the DBV?

Also, I am leaning towards an adjustable vape as opposed to a non-adjustable one like the MZ or PD. And I don't want to spend over $250, max. I want it to use all safe materials and the only thing I have heard so far that made me think maybe the SSV was not for me, is that I want something that is very efficient and can use small - very small - loads like you can do with a Vapor Genie or a Volcano. So should I consider the SSV? The DBV? Can you load very small amounts into them? I'm talking like just enough to cover the screen of a Vapor Genie...

Correct me if I'm wrong somebody, but the impression I get is that the SSV and the DBV are rather similar vapes, with the DBV being more or less a smaller, stripped down version. Both from by the same crowd of course. Best ask those in the threads dedicated to these vapes.

And as for small hits, well I don't know where you got the idea that the Volcano was any good for small hits. Sure you can put tiny amounts in a Volcano, and it will vapourize, but you'll have a shocking vapour to air ratio. Really thin vapour isn't any fun - you end up getting a bigger effect from the hyperventilation than you do from the good stuff.

You're absolutely right about the Volcano, Qbit. I don't know why I put that in there, the Volcano does require a bigger amount of herb to work properly. Thanks for correcting me.

I purchased the DBV while saving up for a SSV. I bought the DBV shortly after it was released and it fits my needs and wants perfectly.

Some difference besides the heater angle between the DBV and the SSV comes with a standard wand/heater cover is the air stream in the SSV is more narrow than the DBV. This means in essence the DBV has a more even vape compared to the SSV but the SSV in experienced hands can create some very thick vapor, I believe its largely knowing when to rotate the wand and how to tilt and make adjustments during the draw technique kind of thing. If they were vehicles I would say the SSV is a manual/stick shift and the DBV is an automatic of a performance vehicle.

The DBV draws are very good. I can easily do a draw that would be too thick for me and I like large draws so I am confident it can perform very well for you.

I say these vapes are not efficient compared to other vaporizers but I am not saying they are wasteful either. They perform best when normally filled. I personally do not find vaping small amounts in my DBV all that pleasing though it will get you their but its like a long game of wait and see for the effects as their a lot more air in the vapor to air ratio and I barely exhaled visible vapor. I also have not tried to vaporize a small amount in quite some time either. Some people put abv down then put a small amount of bud on top of it. I still found it unappealing.

In my opinion, for small amounts the Purple Days and Myrlezap Vaporizers are best at vaporizing small amounts as they are designed to be optimal with small amounts where other vaporizer optimum zones requires larger amounts.

Compared to smoking the SSV and DBV are more efficient but I use the same amount as I did when I smoked. Not everyone experiences this great efficiency in vaporizer at that level but reusing the abv and getting wand hash which is condensed thc it brings vaporizing efficiency into a whole other depth.

If your looking for optimum performance with small amounts and a little bit of weed will do you then I recommend the PD and MZ but if you are going to use regular amounts I recommend a box vaporizer like the DBV, SSV, Warez 3g and the like as its less work and you will get wand hash but their is the trade off as in comparison the box vapes wands are breakable and with the PD and MZ their is no wand and tube.

I advise to select a vaporizer that best suits your individual needs and wants secondary. I originally was considering a vapir 5.0 because I thought the bag option was cool but after thinking about I decided I would never use it, maybe on rare occasions but otherwise an expensive gimmick for my needs so I decided on the SSV but then went the DBV when it became available. My success with my DBV is largely because its a vape that fits my needs.

Good luck in your search for vaporizer, it is worth the effort when you find a vaporizer that fits you well.

dkbs, it seems we're both in about the same boat as far as trying to figure out which one to go with.
Here's what I've learned for myself so far. YMMV.
1) My first vapor ever was from a volcano. Loved the experience of it. But: you have to use more herb than I like to use (not efficient), and it's way over priced. Also, somewhere they showed a photo of the inside of one, and it was full of dust and stuff like an old vacuum cleaner. Not sure if that's normal, but I wouldn't buy one anyway for the above reasons.
2) The vapor genie is great except for one thing: the first couple of draws you're just heating it up. Kinda frustrating. Certainly fine for "out and about", especially like on a camping trip or going to a friend's house, but not my preference for a home vape.
3) The Purple-Days sounds nearly ideal to me. But I ain't waiting 9 weeks.
4) The Myrtlezap is beautiful and if I knew for SURE there was no issue with lead or other unsafe parts inside, I'd order one today. But I'm still thinking about it. I'll probably get one anyway.
5) Sounds to me like DaBuddah and SilverSurfer require like .1 gram to get a good load and work well. I like to use about .025 or less, so I don't think that will work for me. Also, I have a personal preference for a more "stealth" look in a vape - something that if I leave it out on my desk someone won't walk in and immediately say, "Oh, that's for smoking pot". So I prefer the PD and MZ for that reason, too. But that's not my top reason. If I found the perfect vape that wasn't "stealth", I'd still buy it.

So that's where I am so far. Considering how many vapes are on the market, really there aren't many that seem to meet my requirements of being super-efficient in terms of loading a very small amount of herb. I have not even looked at the herbalaire but my GUESS would be that if it uses a bag, you'll have to load at least .1 g. I could be wrong. I'll go look at the herbalaire now.

VapoFish, I have no doubt I'll like using it. My only question is about safety issues. I'm sure If there are any, they are minor. But I'm kind of a health fanatic, I'm even using mj for health issues (as well as getting high ;) ) so that is my one hesitation. Otherwise I'd have ordered one already. I absolutely LOVE the look of it, and I can see that Rick is a stand-up guy and all. I just wish he'd change his parts to leave no doubts about safe vaping. And unless he has a ton of parts on hand, I don't really see why he wouldn't. But that's his choice, it's his company. And he's probably right, that there is no issue, so no need to change. It's just the "perception" of some of us consumers that what we don't know, concerns us.

There is probably bad sh*t inside my Toaster (bread toaster, I mean), and I have never worried about that. But then I don't eat toast every day. I do however limit the use of my microwave because of what I "don't know" about the safety of it.

You might want to acquire a modest collection of vaporizers for different occasions or different moods.
I like checking my local craigslist - I recently bought a current model Vapor Bros for $70 in new condition.
The guy even delivered it to me.

In my opinion, speaking only from experience using these particular vapes, the really good ones are the PD, Silver Surfer, Vapor Warez, Vapor Brothers.
There is definitely a difference between the cheap Chinese Ebay vapes and the higher end models.
Better money spent is to scour the used market in your neighborhood for something good than paying the same money for something not as good although it's new.

Actually, Vapo, since I posted that, a while back now, I have decided that the Myrtlezap is probably safe enough. I began to think more about things like my bread toaster, the microwave, and dozens of other things we use every day that we don't know what is inside or what harm they may be causing, and I decided that of al these things, the Myrtlezap is probably safer than most of them!
