Too young to be here............

it seemed to me the parents are worried out the heat getting out and using a lot of oil/gas lol. if that person is ripping a bowl in their room, regardless of blowing it out the window its going to stink to holy hell. not to easy to cover up. unless the person states their age its all speculation anyway. but i agree if the person is going out buying a vape in the store they must be 18 unless his LHS doesn't card. you can't buy a lighter around here without being 18. :2c:

Its that perspective thing again, one needs to consider the maturity of the questioner, the role of the parent as viewed though our eyes as responders and the basic question of how much truth is anyone entitled to. I can't resolve most of those questions in my own mind so I am stuck without a solid opinion on the matter.

How individuals express themselves can be a dead giveaway to youth 18+ YO.
It can be but unless you have proof of age you're still just guessing. I'd be offended if someone asked how old I was & probably wouldn't even answer. @lwien may be right I don't know but if you're worried that someone here is underage I'd suggest the most responsible action would be not to interact with them.

I agree. If you think someone isn't old enough to be on the forum don't interact with them. It's too difficult to judge a person's age. I would be offended too if someone asked how old I was. It's easy to jump to conclusions.

Leave the more difficult scenarios for the mods to figure out.

Edit
It would depend on what kind of tone you had when asking my age :myday:. We need a little old lady figure.

Children have no place here. Turning a blind eye to stuff like this is one of my major qualms with other communities.

I was medicating in my teens, but frankly I was a deliqient. I don't have any intention of helping kids get into trouble or lie to their parents.

I generally feel like a baby here at 27!

Lo and Behold! The transformative power of Vapor.
Some people who have never posted anywhere are cutting their teeth here. Which is a compliment to the community.

But this thread it needed. Thanks OP I was a little uncomfortable with what you described earlier, when I first read it. Releaved it was an adult situation.

Second point, some find us through Reddit and find our strange manner of communication in threads and conversation awkward. :uhoh: They apologize for 'breaking conversations' in threads, etc.

Some don't even bother to read the posts made before theirs. Just come in with a question with the very correct answer listed in the previous post. Coincidence and dead giveaway they haven't been lurking. But that is a judgement on my part.:haw: If the person wasn't tactful enough to convince me they are paying attention to the content then throws out a post and there isn't anything resembling an awkwardness a first time post an adult with hunt and peck typing skills would make. I then have one thing to watch for. :suspicious:

I had a new user reach out to me before posting any messages anywhere on FC. It was a very short time after I posted some pics of my setup. So I was hoping that might have been the only thing that got their attention. Fortunately they mixed with the group a little and there was an apologetic tone in the message that they did send. So I felt a little more comfortable that I was helping an adult with honest technical questions. But my second judgement call had to be made. I did direct them to the thread and they have set up camp here since.

One new user posted their face as an avatar which made them look a little underage and unaware to FC's style frankly, (But feel free to post what you like. Not judging that.;)) then they changed it to an avatar. A few posts,as a matter of course in the conversation, they mentioned being 30yrs old with child. So I felt foolish for that judgement call having a babyface myself.:D (Not really folks, just be glad you don't have to look in the mirror to shave this face.:freak:)

Herb gardener...
If I was to put a picture of me up, you wouldn't believe I was 30....
When I smoked i could never get served cigarettes, even at a petrol station after putting 80 quid in my impreza, they will happily sell me fuel but not tobacco or alchohol...without me having to get my identification out of course..
I stopped taking offense to this about 5 years ago when I realised that others around me were now showing their age(deteriorating), and I'm still looking young and fresh.

1st impressions of me are not good. I look young and irresponsible...

But speak to me for 5 minutes and you will realise Im actually more grown up than the average 30 year old,, I have a very old head on my shoulders, which happen to be on a very young looking body....
Anyway, iv been judged all my life on my young appearance....

I find I'm not at all worried about this. If someone is disrupting the forum, that's one thing, but I don't see a good way of being proactive about such a thing. I'd rather mind my own business and not make any assumptions about whether anyone "should" be here or not.

I was one of those little lying fucks at one time... 35ish years ago. If I would have found an alternative to smoking would that have made me healthier? And now I'm all growed up and vaping, and kids as young as 10 are being put on all sorts of meds that I wouldnt touch with a stick.

If people can get their own herb, and want to learn a healthier option, I'm happy to talk hypothetical. They can get their own stuff, but if they are going to do it why not provide a bit of direction that can't get at home?

i sort of feel the same way, but the mature feel of this place is a major reason why it is better than the other forums. We don't want to lose that

I'm not suggesting we downgrade the tone of the group to 'hop hop' or whatever the under 50 set is calling it these days. I'm just thinking that an open and honest conversation with knowledgeable and helpful people will be a nice response. We all started learning somewhere, and many of us would have made different decisions if we had other people to learn these things other than our parents. I never would have spoken with my parents about this... They evaded anything that sounded interesting...

PS - I love your avatar. Wanna jump over a tall building and come shovel some stuff for me? :)

I wouldn't feel comfortable providing insight/direction, on a sensitive subject like MJ consumption or sex, to an underage child that was not my own.

I think most people feel the same way and if it weren't for the anonymity that a web site like this provides very few people would consider doing it.

Great Scott!
There's another thread here where the OP stated, "but its cold and I keep getting in trouble for going up and down the stairs everytime I smoke outside."
http://fuckcombustion.com/threads/i...k-can-someone-recommend-me.20340/#post-907097

Everyone in that thread including some very senior members here gave this person (kid) advice as to which vaporizer to get being that he is obviously hiding his use from his parents.

In my opinion, it would seem more appropriate ESPECIALLY being that we know that marijuana use has a demonstrable negative affect on developing brains, that the advice that should have been given was to one, respect your parents, you are living in their house, play by their rules and two, a clear explanation as to why he shouldn't be consuming cannabis at a very young age for the above stated reasons.

I was going to do that in that thread but I was conflicted being that it could be viewed as a derail and would have taken the thread in a whole other direction, which in hindsight, may not have been a bad idea.

Thoughts??

I'm old enough to have a kid. Many of my pals do. I'm living with my parents for another week or two between places. I'll still get "in trouble" if I vape in their house. Aka yelled at lol. Just my 2 cents. They know I have my MMJ and don't mind, they just don't want me smelling up THEIR house, which is fair. So right now I'm hiding my usage outside etc like a teenager, so its a fair question. Others hide from their roomates who they might not be friendly with, but depend on financially, nosey landlords, other neighboring apartments etc. Lots of reasons to hide the fact that you are using cannabis in many places.

I also started cannabis use very young so I can't weigh in there. I want to believe its no big deal, and so far I feel relatively intelligent, however the general population isn't setting a very high bar to begin with these days.

BTW I do agree, sounds like a kid. Just saying we can't prove it, and the questions CAN be valid for adults. My gut says under 18 too, but what am I the internet police? I don't have any interest in trying to catch sub 18 year olds. Not my concern personally at all.
