Does anyone think that S&B will nail it on the Crafty soon and decrease their more than likely double digit defect rate? At some point, this model has to become cost prohibitive for profit and it seems like Crafty deaths outnumber Mighty deaths by quite a long shot (my observations).

I so want a Crafty, but even at 40ish hours they same to have 3min warmup times that were less than 90 seconds when new. I know they can be sent in, but now it seems like S&B are pushing back hard with battery claims, and for the cost of these products, holy shit.

If Crafty was much more reliable, I don't think anything could compare for portability.

S&B had better get the act together and make some sweeping improvement to the Crafty program, as in, stop selling them and move on to Crafty II. Of course, Mighty II as well, while they're at it. I fully believe these will happen, though they may be a year or more away.

I think S&B are a serious engineering company that is doing its best to provide both a product that has excellent functionality and a low failure rate.

I think most of us agree that they have achieved the first.

The second is very difficult to actually quantify without S&B's sales data and actual return rate.
Do we really know how many they have sold?
Do we know how many have actually failed?
Was there one particular batch that had problems?
Was there an initial design flaw that has now been fixed?
Was there a component used that turned out be of a lower quality?

I know we have a number of people who are now on their 3rd Crafty and that does seem a little suspicious but that's as far as we can go without the actually data.

My wife and myself went through a period of about 2 years where everything we bought was defect. Kitchen apparatus, washing machines, boilers, cap flaps, computers, really everything. I always try to purchase the best quality but we just went through a rough spell. Shit happens!

I would also like to have a Crafty that would be 100% reliable forever (that's why I drive an old Lexus) but in the real world it doesn't happen that often. Anything that is engineered will fail! Its just a matter of when.

All I want to say is lets keep this forum factually accurate (and free of bickering). Many potential Crafty users come to the forum and it is huge so let's keep the signal to noise ratio high. Opinions can be interesting but it has been proven that there is a link between opinions and ..........

Awesome idea, should be brought to the mods attention.

Just returned back to this thread after seeing the Crafty in the classifieds....many of you remember my posts, but I owned a Crafty for about 30 hours and then sold it, and owned 2 Mighty's and sold them recently as well, neither of the 3 vapes had any fatal problems, just minor issues that weren't deal breakers. I moved on to the Solo and Air, returned the Air (Solo performed much better with my gong needs), and read the last couple of pages so figured I could contribute since i've owned and experie

So IMHO only, there is no way that the Crafty (or Mighty) "blow away" the Solo. I don't even want to bother comparing...since they are just too different altogether. The Solo is the best value for the dollar, hands down. And that goes for any vape IMO.

I love the Solo, it's a keeper, I use it like a daily driver desktop with gong, and it impresses me more than any of the over dozen high priced vapes i've owned.

I didn't like the Air, not enough juice, and kinda similar to the Crafty and the Solo being like a Mighty. It's okay, but just doesn't compare to the Crafty for portability.

IMO there is no better portable vape than the Crafty, and that's why I miss it. The Air just didn't cut it, but I will use a Crafty as intended, not as a regular daily driver.... that battery can only take so much.

The Mighty is king in my books. I miss it dearly and will have one yet again soon, but it's just not that ultra portable, so IMO I think i'll be happiest with a Solo, Mighty, and Crafty, or even better X2 for all three!

I buy and sell vapes as a hobby, many vapes I sell and I don't look back on, but some I keep thinking about and then have to buy again....the Solo, Crafty, and Mighty all fit that bill.....must haves! Only you can decide if you want to play the warranty roulette wheel! Just don't get them near water!

Hmmm I wonder how much it actually cost to process Crafty or any other high retail price. From my reading it seems like when you turn in your crafty for something that seems fixable, they just send another one. It has to hurt sales unless the actual production price is low. Having a great reputation is great but every company is in it for the profits just ask Volkswagon

I just sold my Air last night to buy the crafty, after reading some of the posts here I am discouraged of doing so, even after I am hearing what a wonderful vape it is. But from some of the comments it seems anything but wonderful. I am now at a lost of what I should do.

Do what you were going to do. Listen, I have a shit tonne experience with both the Air and Crafty (and Mighty). If you can stand the bigger size of the Mighty - get that, otherwise if you need stealth, continue on and Crafty on bro! You DO have a 2 year warranty, that they will stand behind, it's only up to you if you want to deal with worn batteries, etc.

Well my main vape is the Vapexhale Evo so the crafty would be replacing my air. I'd use the crafty when I don't feel like setting up the Evo and would also have a portable battery pack to use on the go. But this whole conversation made me really nervous about it.

I'm also interested in owning one of these in future. I think it is good to see the fault reports peppered with the occasional "My one is working fine since day one", as it really does give a better idea of what is going on.
So I would be happy to see @Roth and others to continue to occasionally report positive experiences, as happens often in some other threads.
I don't think he was telling people how not to use the product, but merely helping by pointing out where the faults seem to originate.

Anyway, I think this post mirrors my opinions:

Having recently bought one of their products, i would say that this type of company prides itself on it's ability to solve problems, and they are likely working harder than some other vape manufacturers to resolve the issues, or come up with a solution.

I wonder would they do a Crafty II, or are they the type who invest so much in the initial development, that they would strive to make that work and iron out any faults?
They've only done one revamp on the Volcano, and it was only really to make it more accurate and digital. (And they continue to sell the original!)
The Crafty and Mighty are probably already accurate and digital enough for another 10 years+ ?!

From my reading it seems like when you turn in your crafty for something that seems fixable, they just send another one.

What that tells me, is that they've identified a weakness somewhere in the early ones, and now would prefer returns to be replaced with the newer updated items?
This sounds like a good thing to me?

Or it could be that the units are not easily serviceable and they just replace it. If this is the case it might account for the surprisingly high cost of battery replacement as you are paying for a whole new unit, perhaps at a cost close to the manufacturing cost.

Prima? Surely can't be in the same league as the Crafty? Never even heard of it...thought all the attention was on the Zion as the next best thing. Guess I have some reading to do, but the Crafty has lifted the bar quite high.

I think S&B should just include 2 Crafty's in the box....for when one goes down you have a backup instantly. Oh, and prepaid mailers already in the box! For the prices they charge it's not unheard of!

Looks promising though comes with a 250 price but i believe a great warranty, not sure about reliability. Eventually the crafty and mighty will be surpassed which is only a good thing

Do what I do and just buy a new one outright when the first unit fails. When I receive the replacement I send the first unit back for a full refund.

It is an awesome design and just came out but the reviews have been great.
5 year warranty and 2 years on the swappable battery.

For anyone that needs a great deal on a USB car adapter or wall adapter you can get them at Best Buy for $1.99 with free shipping; but you have to select either Emerald green or amethyst (Why the blue and ruby are $4.99 is something you would have to ask Best Buy). Here are the links:
Car adapter - http://www.bestbuy.com/site/dynex-u...hyst/6918398.p?id=1219241769514&skuId=6918398

A.C. Outlet adapter - http://www.bestbuy.com/site/dynex-u...hyst/6918398.p?id=1219241769514&skuId=6918398

They are being closed out so get em while they last. :)

Hey @Stinky, can you clarify something? I've seen you say this before, and I've never understood it. Are you able to get a full refund because of Australian retail laws and Storz & Bickel's terms of sale there?

Here in the U.S., I don't think this is an option those of us have dealing with Storz & Bickel USA, as their terms of sales are literally "No refunds / all sales are final," unless you buy through a third party vendor who has decided to offer a money back guarantee on the purchase for the entire term of the warranty. (Most U.S. retailers do not do this, any may offer a guarantee limited to only 30 or 90 days, etc.) My experience with 3rd party vendors is that they often say, "Sorry, support and service for this device comes from Storz & Bickel," because after all - what vendor would want to be replacing all these units out of his or her pocket?

If you've found some way of getting to a refund rather than a replacement under warranty terms, I would be interested to hear it! ;)

Do any solo users get higher with one solo bowl as compared to one crafty bowl? I just recently got my solo back out and really think I feel better after using it.

The Solo may have a slightly different vape signature. You can fit more in the Crafty though, but IMO the Solo sessions last longer, and thus I think you get more conduction and perhaps slightly different effects. My sleep has seemed to improve using the Solo over the Crafty in the evenings.

Could also be o2 deprivation if you're having airflow issues with the Solo, as some do in comparison to the Crafty. When you say you feel "better", how exactly do you mean?

Thanks right back at you for your valuable feedback on the Crafty. I guess it makes me feel a bit better that I sold mine, and am very happy with the Solo for home........ but...... nothing compared to the Crafty for ultra stealth for me personally, but I think the Mighty has it beat on longevity....just don't hear of as many breaking down and being sent in as the Crafty.

How is your new one heading in the same direction? Sounds like it's battery related?

Under Austalian consumer law all goods must be of merchantable quality. I just tell my awesome retailer that the unit has broken down again and that I would like a refund.
