It took me way too long to figure out that lower temps seem to make better vapor, I thought I had it dialed in pretty well but I learned that the denser white vapor I was getting had irritants in it. I recently got a different vape with a bigger bowl and heat source than the nano that taught me about blue ish vapor that is more absorbable, made at lower temps that take a little longer to produce vapor from convection. I would have done 7 in the beginning with a water pipe but then dropped to 6.5, but 6 and 6.25 made for a nicer experience. This is with a 14mm glass screen gong.

I almost sold this thing but I'm glad I kept it as a back up.

That thick white vapor has irritants in it? Do these higher temperature, despite not combusting, still release harmful byproducts that otherwise wouldn't be released at lower temperatures? I am aware that higher temps release different CBDs but I didn't know there were also irritants other than CBD? Or do some higher temp CBDs come off as irritable? I'm interested...
Unfortunately I cannot give dial numbers because Nancy is a powerhouse... At what form of herb browning do the irritants start releasing (or are they always releasing...just higher quantity at higher temps??)? (ie. Light top browning after first hit, dark browning after first hit, yellowing after first hit, etc).

When I get those nice thick white hits that brownish the top of my herb, I feel a massive hit in my lungs as well as an urge to cough (not incredibly difficult to control though).

When I lower the temp and do longer draws, I feel as if I get the same amount of vapor in the hit, just in a longer draw, with a lighter initial density, but almost no need to cough.

It seems as if I'm getting the same amount of vape in the long run of the hit, but the lower temp hit has less of a cough factor. Is this because of those said "irritants?"

Also, I can't lie...those nice thick hits that feel dabbish and really make me cough...well...they send me off. Even if it's not as "efficient" or "absorbful" as those lower temp hits...that initial wave of thc is just too good to pass up.

EDIT: @BabyFacedFinster ... You can take the silicon off the top of your stem and put it by the mouthpiece, and it should slide right into your 18mm, you'll just have a SUPER huge gong air pathway!

Do you run your nano through a water piece? If not, it can be kind of dry, hot, and harsh above 6. If you do use a bubbler with decent diffusion, you could probably crank it up a little bit, tho, without the irritation.

Just so you know, CBD stands for cannabidiol, which is just one of the many cannabinoids in cannabis. The most commonly known/discussedones are the following:

Delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC)

Delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinolic acid A (THCA-A)

Cannabidiol (CBD)

Cannabinol (CBN)

Delta-9-tetrahydrocannabivarin (THCV)

Cannabigerol (CBG)

As for bad stuff in the vapor, it is supposed to be safer if you stay under 390F, but there is a lot of misinformation being spread around about temperature. It does seem to make sense that the higher the temp, the more bad stuff you could extract, tho.

That's some setup you've got there. Very nice.

For me it was just a wheezing in my lungs that signalled an irritant that I didn't get from other vapes. I preferred the higher temp power house effect too, but when I got a cold it was really bad, but turning it down seemed to help. I have read that things like benzene can off gas at higher temps, so it could be stuff like that.

Your terminology is a bit off. CBD and CBD-A are the two forms of one type of cannabinoid and it isn't an irritant. Its anti inflamatory actually. Other cannabinoids have different effects but aren't really irritants either, AFAIK. Most of the main ones are very beneficial in a variety of ways. The more obscure ones are less known I think.

Edit: in reply to everythingshazy, I use a mini bong. I was using a large bong without water too since it was a little more potent without water.

As for the nice setup you mentioned, do you mean my new vriptech? It's like a really big, higher powered nano, in reality. Or did you mean to quote someone else's post? Perhaps bongologists rig?

I believe some are expectorants and make you cough, but I don't think that necessarily means they are bad for you.

Also, I did click the wrong post to quote lmao. The vriptech sounds like a beast, tho. The nano has a ton of power as it is.

Yep, some make you cough (which I don't mind) and probably terpenes react differently in different people too. The issue I had with the higher temp vaping was that it felt like there was particulates in it. My breathing wasn't as good after. I vape maybe 5-7 times a day or more, medicinally, so it was taking a toll.

The vriptech is nice, 60 watts vs 11w max and a venturi bowl. Holds about twice as much as the nano, which is perfect because it takes two nano bowls when I have my daily tolerance.

I love em both. One is art and beauty that is smooth and warm to touch and one is science with a bit more punch. Both very good vapes.

I was using CBD as a generalized term to relate back to everything related to Canna_____, I should have specified that. Apologies. Thanks for the input guys.

You sure?

(Sorry, but I actually laughed out loud when I saw this sentence. :p )

Hey, I'm blazed and getting over a weird flu that has taken out my whole family. I can be captain obvious sometimes. Hehehe. I just meant that we talk less about other cannabinoids and not as much research has been done on them. :)

Yes, they will.

If you are over 21, you can go to the market. You just can't buy (yet)... that's changing soon, too.

Oregon is even better, really. I'm looking forward to heading to Portland some weekend to check out the expanded offerings! :)

@Enchantre , I don't understand when you say "you can't buy yet"? Do you mean it must be a "donation"? or is it because I'm not a state resident?

I hope the idea of small farmer direct supply takes hold in other states too. I don't want to be buying my cannabis at a premium cost from Big Tobacco in the future.

Thanks. I never thought of that. I think I'm going to wait though. I got a notice that they shipped it priority mail yesterday so it should be here tomorrow. I have been doing fine with the stem. I find that taking little sips vs long hits helps cut down on any harshness. I also might try turning it down to 5.75 to 6.

Hello Nano-Nation. We're moving the entire shop/home/office from Santa Ana to Costa Mesa this week. Hopefully everything will run smoothly. I've backed-up all the inventory because the machines will be down until next week, so there shouldn't be any delays in shipping. (Right Carissa?)
If you have an RMA issue it would be better to contact us next week instead of this week as I won't be able to fix anything anyways with the machines down.

Also please note: The 10% FC discount and lifetime warranty will disappear at the end of this month (OCT 31 @Midnight), and be replaced by a FREE Shipping coupon and 3 year warranty and other surprises.

So if I get one before then, lifetime warranty?

On a side note, noticed a swift blow down the heater tube get's rid of the slight charring I get on the top of a load if I haven't used my nano for a while. Figure it must be the air sitting in the tube and area around it getting warmer than ambient, and causing that first hit in a while to be a bit hotter than desired... Or maybe not... Either way blowing works lol
I read this last week & I've been doing it (when I remember) ever since, it's a great tip thanks for that.

I find that taking little sips vs long hits helps cut down on any harshness. I also might try turning it down to 5.75 to 6.

It's funny, I take long hits (10-20 seconds) and I find zero harshness up to and including 6.5 on the temp dial. And then at 6.6 it's harsh all of a sudden. The weird thing is, I almost like that harshness. I think it's because I have a couple decades worth of combustion under my belt. If it doesn't burn a little it seems like it's not hitting hard. I quit combusting a couple months ago so hopefully I'll get over that soon and be able to fully enjoy the smooth hits. With water, it's never harsh at all, even at high temps.

I almost feel my E-Nano might run a little cool, but I do have the screen pushed back a tiny bit which requires higher temps, I like a fairly fast draw speed, and the ambient temperature where my nano is is also on the cool side right now. Either way, it doesn't matter if it runs cool or hot, as long as it's consistent, and my nano is consistent as can be.

I generally use temps from 5.5-6.75 dry, with water I will go up to 7.25 and very rarely 7.5. I'm not a big fan of high temps and my ABV is usually still a little green/yellow.

A lot has to do with the distance between your adjustable screen regarding how hot and the harshness factor. My go to temp seems to be 6.00 - 6.50 depending on the cannabis I'm using.

I'm at temp. 6.25 with some Matanuska Thunderfuck my nighttime Indica. I had been looking for that strain for the last 6 months. A grower at the market had a whole big bag full. I bought some at a very reasonable price. It's harvest time!! The Nano has a way of extracting all the goodies from you medicine. I'm too tired to get the bubbler out.

@ACE OF VAPE Good luck with the move. If I lived closer I would help out!

i'm just wondering if there's been a request for a longer direct draw stem yet? preferably adjustable screen...

Nothing like the threat of losing "lifetime warranty" to push me off the fence! Just put in my order for a Crotch Walnut and accessories. Thank you @ACE OF VAPE
