Favorite Foods They No Longer Make

Do You remember Yum Yums? I sure wish they still had these available at the grocery stores. Kinda like the Samoas Girl Scout Cookies, but Yum Yums had like a wafer bottom. Here's a picture I found. I tried finding these but they don't sell them in my area. I think they were discontinued years ago. maybe they needed to call them something else, it's a stupid name.

Oh, and real tootsie rolls... not these rolled up brown rocks they pass off as them. Just those soft squishy tootsie rolls of the 70s!

This isn't really a food. But I used to like this desert liqueur for a recipe as well as a after dinner desert drink for friends, it had a chocolate taste.

I was just bitching about this to one of my friends, so this thread is timely, lol...

This first one may still be available, but not around me. I haven't seen it in years.

This next one has only just been discontinued. And I'm pissed. It was the one cake mix that no one could ever tell was a mix. They also made a dark chocolate chunk brownie mix that totally masked the flavor of cannabis.

But the one that really corks me is this one. They still make it, but no longer import it to the United States. Now this is a real dilemma for any self respecting Dane as we always have a bottle of this in the freezer. Most Danish folk feel this is the equivalent to 'mother's milk.' :) And no social occasion is complete without it.

4. Jell-O 1-2-3

From 1969 to the mid-1990s, Jell-O 1-2-3 made moms and dads look like wizards. Jell-O 1-2-3 came in a box with a single bag of powder. The powder was blended with water and the frothy concoction was poured into glasses. Somehow -- most likely magic -- the Jell-O separated into three distinct layers, with a layer of gelatin at the bottom, a mousse-style liquid in the middle and a creamy layer on top. It was like eating science.

10. Clearly Canadian

These sparkling waters were beloved by all who knew them. If you miss them, there’s hope. Fans of Clearly Canadian have undertaken an ambitious plan to bring the drink back. Their plan involves preordering enough cases to incentivize the manufacturer to restart the production line. If this gambit works, some of the other foods on this list might find a second life after all.

22. Bar None

Bar None was distributed nationwide in 1987, at a time when Hershey’s had clearly been resting on it’s E.T.-Reese’s Pieces laurels and hadn’t put out a new product in years. The children of America were ready for change, in the form of a cocoa wafer, chocolate filing, peanuts, and a milk chocolate coating. The taste was all kinds of excellent, and kids loved it. Then Bar None disappeared mysteriously, reappeared just as mysteriously in 1993, and later disappeared again. Kids nationwide were left thinking that it was somehow their fault, which might explain the nationwide increase in candy consumption.

Surge is back locally- there's a store near me that stocks it!
As for actual food they need to start making again- (because everyone takes orders from me, apparently)
Planter's Cheese Balls- accept no imitations!
Cheetos Paws- better than both the hard fried ones and the baked soft ones
Jello Gelatin Pops (at least I can get Pudding Pops from Meijer)
Crystal Pepsi (the original, not the doofy citrus one)

i just went to hometownfavorites.com- there's a master list of discontinued foods. Bubble Yum grape and Bubblicious Cherry Cola gone? Sour Charms? What is this world coming to? :(

@momofthegoons ,

I have had that. Cheer up, there is a substitute----- battery acid with some caraway seeds and anise thrown in tastes about the same ;)

I think there's an acquired taste for Akvavit and I obviously don't have it---thankfully.

Cut my tongue open on those pudding pack lids many, many times as a kid.

DDave they are the same Tootsie rolls. Really. They are. Exactly the same.... they are hard because they are 40 years old! :D
