Chest pain & proper breathing when vaping?

Hi,

I've been using a Rockzap for over a year now and I am developing a sort of weird chest pain I can't really find a proper cause for.

Symptoms:
Occasional sharp stabbing pain behind the rib cage, somewhere around the 5th-6th ribs about half way between the solar plexus and the side of the rib cage. Most often on the left side, but also on the right side occasionally. The pain is most obvious when breathing in deeply, or breathing out completely. It usually develops at night during/after a vaping session. It usually goes away after some time and throughout the day I normally don't notice it. But last night I actually woke up from the pain and had a hard time falling asleep again because no matter how much I turned, the pain on the left side would no subside unless I exercised very shallow breathing.

Now I actually visited a doctor because of this and had a thorough checkup, meaning blood test to check for infections, x-ray, EEG and they found nothing, everything is fine with the lungs etc. so it's probably a muscle/bone problem.

My best guess at the moment is that my breathing is simply wrong. The science on this is a bit sketchy, but there seems to be a consensus that shallow, chest-driven breathing is "bad" and that pot-belly, diaphragm-driven breathing is "good".

Does anyone have similar trouble? I never smoked, but I guess that since I need to draw on the vape stronger than normal breathing, I'm doing something weird with the wrong muscles leading to strained fibres or something.

Or maybe I should switch to a vape that requires less drawing strength?

The CRZ was like drinking a milkshake. The UD is like drinking water through a big ass straw.

Any opinions?

I have your pains everyday. I vape to get rid of them.

My lung collapsed 2 years ago. I get those muscles pains now every day at some point in the day. Really uncomfortable.

If you're not used to vaping, which usually involves a lot of deep inhalations, it could very well be the vaping.

I have severe sleep apnea, and when I started using my CPAP device at night, I went through several months of various back, chest, and diaphragm pains that seemed unexplained until I found a forum of other CPAP users describing similar pains. The CPAP requires a more forceful exhalation since your lungs are under constant air pressure (that's what a CPAP does - it's like putting a leaf blower up your nose all night), and it's not something your body is used to unless your a scuba diver (or CPAP user).

Long story short, stretching, hot showers, and ibuprofen worked wonders. Once my body adjusted, it didn't happen again.

Thanks for the input. I just realized that another cause could be that vaping tends to give me a stuffy nose. I find it harder to breathe through the nose and now I realize that I often get the urge to breathe in deeply and it seems like I'm doing this all the time. Can't be good.

I too get a stuffy noise on occasion. Just as if I were combusting. If it's a major issue for you try using water tools, lower temps, and small pills.
