Underdog Log Vapes

Hah, I've been meaning to give that a good shot lately, but I always forget, and I end up grinding up a pile before I'm able to remember

I have one of those $5 dimmers that @underdog recommended and i leave my dog on 24/7 but i turn it down to what i feel is below 50% power.....when im ready to use it i just turn the dial up and it only takes a minute to get up to temp....

The differences between the Econo-Dog and regular Dogs:

• Econo-Dog runs on 17v+ whereas the regular Dogs are 12v
• Econo-Dog is an AirCore design so is meant to be used with the stainless tipped nylon and NonG stems, they don't have the design features to work particularly well with our glass stem options.
  
• Econo-Dogs don't work with car chargers and require their own unique power supply and extension cables.

You can run them 24/7 just like the regular Dogs.

They won't work with a standard battery pack as they require considerably higher voltage.

An Econo-Dog and Mini is probably the worst possible combination since they require different power supplies and accessories and neither is happy using glass stems. Plus the combined price puts you into the regular UD price range.

Close but no cigar..

The Mini uses the same 12v as a regular UD but only draws about 1/2 the power.

The glass stems will technically work on the Minis (and AirCores and Econo-Dogs) but not as well as on regular Dogs because of the lack of stem-stop. They can be handheld though or a core o-ring installed to act as a stop. Workable but not as good a solution as the regular Dogs.

Vintage stereos.. cool. I used to do a lot of repair work on vintage equipment.

There is a little stress on the heating elements in the Dogs during heat-up but much less than the wear 'n tear from sustained operation, if the UD is powered on it's power consumption is pegged at 100% max.

We talk about a lifespan measured in time-run because the primary modes of failure are heating element fatigue and degradation of the wooden body due to cumulative effects of heat exposure.

They do live a good long time though and oh what an enviable life dogs live.

That's a great compromise and will surely extend the operational lifespan of your Pup.. just like using a VVPS to lower voltage when not in use.

I had a feeling that wasn't quite right, but I knew it was something like that

You were pretty damn close just a mix-up between volts and amps... so I changed my mind, go ahead and have that 'cigar'.

I've found the 'Old Style' Glass/silicone stems work great with my mini. I myself almost never use an all glass stem with any of my 'dogs. I go Nylon or Ol' style all the way

I received my replacement UnderDog this afternoon! I am so happy!

It fits our little battery pack from Ebay pretty well, and we noticed it also holds the nylon stems pretty nicely too. You'll notice there's two sizes for this case; this is the Passport Essential size. We just ordered the standard sized one to see how it holds the glass stems, and we'll let you guys know when that one arrives. It's supposed to be a little taller than this one.

I broke down and got one of these. I guess I won't be receiving it until next month according to ebay shipping. That's ok. I have something to look forward to.

Are underdog stems 14mm 0r 18mm? I'm looking at trying to use the screens with 18mm stem for Zion.

Yep, like MapCap said, they're 14mm. Our screens are too small for that stem. Sorry man!

Oh wow, I can't believe I did that. I'm just a little off today.

Is it possible for you guys to release an 18mm stem or is it not really plausible? I know I can get a 14mm to 18mm adapter but if there's a way to have an actual 18mm stem that would be awesome and beneficial to those that already have 18mm bongs

We have the 18mm NonG (nylon with stainless steel tip), but no plans for an 18mm glass stem. The adapter is a good option if you're looking for all glass.

@Ratchett is working on a silicon 14/18 mm adapter, as well. I have one and I'm testing it out to see how I like it.

I tested it for a few minutes last night; it wasn't ideal on nylon because it grips pretty nicely. I think it's better on glass but want to try it out a bit more before I have a final verdict. It fits just fine, just want to make sure I don't see any weird issues.

I forgot to mention what UD found out during troubleshooting. Turns out, it was the A/C cord after all. I feel like a complete idiot missing it myself during my own troubleshooting. I also feel really badly for putting UnderDog through all this too. I'm usually a lot more on top of things, so this bothers me. Makes me angry at myself.

Ouch; I hate missing stuff like that. Making sure every step is tested properly isn't the easiest thing to do. I've done high-end tech support for a decade and still call companies with questions where I missed something obvious.

also, with those battery packs do the underdogs get less hot as the batteries run down? unsure how that works.

But better to have a dead power supply than a dead UD! I'm glad we finally got it solved!
