I like using the Ed's balm ass butter too.
I have some White Russian strain in my Nano right now and my temp @ 6.25.

I noticed when I turn mine down when it feels too hot, it doesn't take very long for the harshness to go away from the heat. I hadn't realized my temp dial must have gotten bumped and didn't notice that my temp was at 7. I turned it down to 6.25, it only took a minute to get back down to where it felt comfortable to draw.

My replacement cherry nano is ready to be shipped back to me. Pretty fast turn around. Epic received the faulty unit last Friday.

... Kind of hard to tell if we are talking about the same thing, I think we are. But to clarify I mean not just spinning on the gong but actually changing the angle. To basically the same degree as the standard SSV. In theory this should make a big difference like it does for the SSV (although stirring is still used, rotating just provides a better hit). Diameter of the gong is very small but still I think directing heat intensity to different angles should make a difference.

I will have to experiment more which will be on thursday night.

Yes... think we're talking about same thing. Mine certainly don't have as much play as you could get with SSV (or others), but some GonG adapters fit a little looser than others. Does make a little difference and seems to smooth things out better on larger loads.

I like using the Ed's balm as butter too.

They'll do that! A rubber band or hair band will hold it in place and allow you to turn it without much hassle. I rarely bump mine anymore, but used to do it all the time and think the older dials were easier to turn.

now i want a joda stem. reminds me of my chillum lol.

LOVE this stem. Don't know if it is the size or shape or what, but it gives delicious dry hits. I had taken a stock Epic stem out with me to let a friend try nano dry hitting and it was nowhere near the hits I get out of this one. GonGs I like the stock Epic much better.

Just plugged my Nano into a new Wemo Insight (Wifi Controlled smart power outlet).
I noticed something really cool - it reads the active power consumption with decent precision!

Check the wattage consumption by temperature setting:
6.0 - 9 watts
6.5 - 10 watts
7.0 - 11 watts
7.5 - 12 watts
..
10 - 16 watts

So at maximum temperature, this vaporizer is pulling around 16 watts of current. That's nothing at all. My home computer pulls around 400 watts, and my 3D printer pulls about 500 watts.

Now I wonder if I can find a third party app which provides more granularity of the data. I'd love to see it read to the second decimal point (that'd be great to help dial in my favorite temp settings)

I think you may have found a vvps (wwps) for the Nano!

Nano and gong showed up. It's awesome. The box for the power cord was larger so I assumed it was the vape. Nope. I knew it was nano, but in person it's impressive how much so.

Pics to follow. I got a nice grain for the standard cherry option, imo. http://imgur.com/a/fMPmW

Got the hang of it right away. 6.5 for stem and 7.5 for gong. Edit 6.5 for gong is good too.

And I'm happy that my dial was perfectly aligned to 0-10.

Much better than the portable I tried briefly.

I was smelling how pure the stem smelled and asked my wife to smell it just to get her reaction to what smells like delicious purple diesel and Cali orange. She said, "it smells like butt!" To which I replied "it smells like essence!" To which she replied, "essence of butt!" Then we laughed. Only a vaper can appreciate it I guess. And her hilarious commentary is part of why I married her.

It is creepy how much this sounds like my life. I think your wife and my fiancée are kindred spirits.

Still trying to play around with my nano and enjoying the hell out of it with the gong and d020d bubbler. I have, for the most part, stopped blowing the herb back but it happens from time to time, especially when it's late and I'm tired. I will be ordering a carbed gong from joda soon so that should take care of that.

I have not adjusted the screen much as I think I found a great spot to use at around heat setting 6.5 with less than 0.025g. Also, I have only used the dry stem a handful of times and do not find it appealing. I think it is a bit awkward to use without spilling my herb.

I actually prefer the dry stem after one day of testing. Basically, I hold it horizontally then bring the nano up to the stem, then inhale with everything parallel to the ground. No herb falls onto the heater and I can control what type of hit I get more easily.

Or you can try mashing a chunk in there and it won't fall down even if used vertically.

Ended up just buying the E-Nano, so stoked!!
I ordered last Thursday night and had my kit by yesterday before noon. It is amazing! Seemed like a long wait, but not too bad. It was worth the wait. What type of wood and accessories did you get?

I use the dry stem more often. And I can't remember spilling anything from my glass stems. Are you tamping down the load? A small dowel works for me, I have a friend who uses a pencil. But a couple light taps and my herb stays secure in the stem.

I've had mine for 7-8 weeks and I'm still discovering how to use it. So far I like a medium grind with the adjustable stems best. In the fixed screen stem I like to rip off chunks off flowers to vap, as it lets some herb by the screen if you grind too fine.

For me, it's the same with the gongs, but I'm actually using the dry stem more often. I mostly use my nano for a hit or two through the day, so I ussually don't get out my water pipe unless I'm there for a session.

A chopstick is my multi-tool. Wide end to lightly tamp my herb down, thin end to re/move the screen. Also handy for swishing things in Iso and fishing them out again.

Usually the lightest of tamping is enough to keep things in place. Once it gets hit with the heat it tends to stick on its own. I also use mine at an angle, not directly up and down.

I actually have a ceramic one hitter that looks like a cigarette which I use instead of the chopstick for my gong. The diameter of it is perfect to dampen down my herbs when using the gong. I do have a few chops packages laying around d but I'll only use them if ever try the dry stem again.

I think that i like hitting the bubbler dry more than when it's got water. Only thing I can do is more testing to find out, right?!

I love this vape.

Welcome to nano-land to you and all other newcomers!!

I think most do something similar when dry. Basically, hold the stem in your mouth like a cigar and bring the nano to it. This keep spills to a minimum. Laying your head back and nanoing upside down vertical is very fun, too!

Probably best to stay away from totally vertical (nano on bottom) as much as possible. Though the load will usually stick in place, a nug will sometimes shrink a bit when vaping. If this drops down it probably won't fall out (unless you lift the stem), but it will combust or at least hit much hotter if it falls to the heating element screen. Not what I would call a pleasant surprise!

Chopsticks work great. I often use a small golf pencil, too. Smaller and simpler, and just barely long enough to push up screen from bottom of a GonG. No eraser to worry about either.

Be on the lookout for a new tool @Ratchett is working on if you haven't come across it in the thread. He does some nice stuff and this one looks like it will be the ultimate nano scoop, tamp and stir tool.

Know many prefer the nano dry - the flavor is AMAZING - but don't give up on water once you get a little more used to your nano. It can definitely help take larger hits and keep throat irritation at bay from those longer sessions.

I tried the gong with my 16" SYN 45mm dome perc beaker (instead of with my mini bong) with the dome perc dry (too much drag for the nano with it filled) and it definitely packs a punch. It's a nice tool to tone down the intensity of the effect to a daytime manageable level. The direct stem is still my favorite, but the water is a nice variable.

D020-D arrived yesterday. Tried it out with both my Crafty and E-Nano. The Crafty could not compete with the thick white vapor the E-Nano was creating (despite holding only about 1/4 of the amount of herb as the Crafty). Took two huge rips off about 0.05 grams of some new stuff I picked up last night. Holy crap did it back a punch, I was feeling very nice! Really glad I picked up the bubbler.

Only issue I had was I went to stir once and the adjust-a-bowl felt right through the GonG into the water. Seems I can't push the screen down to where the long end of the e-pick is without it falling out of the GonG. Can't tell if it's just a badly sized screen or if the GonGs aren't intended to have there screen placed as low as the dry stem? Can anyone advise?

Stretch your screens out with a dowel. Think this is the post I just described the process in.

I have my Nano for about a week now and I'm very happy with it. It does live up to the hype. Gave up my 2 screens experiment I talked about earlier in this thread for the moment and vape at around 5.8 and 6 on the dial (this week I will try lower). It's strange because a vaporizer is just something that provide heat to herb but I feel much higher with the nano than with the mflb for the same quantity of herb. It's probably because the Nano vapor is much smoother for me and it's possibly more potent. With smoking and the MFLB+PA (with a 1ft draw whip), I had those coughing fits [even with the smallest amount of vapor]. With the Nano they are rare and I can hold the vapor longer in my lungs (although too long is unnecessary I heard, but long enough).

I'm still experimenting with small quantities and long "sessions". I try to extend my sessions on purpose, taking a toke from time to time while doing something else like I used to do with my MFLB. Maintaining my high that way. Those are not really sessions since the nano is kind of like on-demand vaping. I compare it with my mflb-pa which had an incredible ability to use very small amount of herb (below 0.05g). The Nano is as good for extremely small quantity. For the same quantity of herb, the Nano provide more vapor and a better high for me. I find that to be the most efficient with extremely small quantities you need to at least cover the whole screen of the nano stem (10mm in diameter) with herbs. You must also take into account that the herb will shrink when you vape. I didn't weight it but it must be a very small quantity, maybe 0.02g, 0.025g, maybe less. I'm very happy with my Nano for small quantities. If you put a larger load like 0.1g, which is also small, you also can get massive hits if you want. I did it a few times only, I prefer using smaller quantities. I only had my nano for one week, so I'm still experimenting with it.

I find that the herb/abv in my Nano (and I presume every convection vaporizer) shrink much more than with the MFLB. You can see the individual herb crumbs/particles to be much smaller at the end. Powder like. I even vaped some mflb abv I had and they shrank too. It's probably because the convection air gets deeper within each weed particles, extracting all the goodies within. Just a personal theory. I still cant believe how high I am for the small quantity of herb I put in my nano. I was completely ripped yesterday.

The Nano GonGs are definitely it's weak spot. Epic needs to up it's game and get better GonGs, or PlanetVape should get into the game. I've ordered one from Joda but it hasn't arrived yet. I had problems with my first epic gong and had to RMA it. I'm using the fixed glass screen stem and gong now, so as to avoid any screen issues.
