Yeah, having two power supplies isn't a big deal.

I think I have the perfect packing technique for me. But I do experiment. And the 12v is perfect most of the time. But sometimes I want the higher temp actives. It isn't about big hits. I get those with no problem.

There is a store near me with a 13.8v power supply. Is that voltage too high?

13.8 would be about max voltage and I would keep Zaps on a 12 volt during the time it is not being used to make vapor. No need making more heat when you don't need it. I would also 'check back' with the 12 volt after a while by trying it for heavier vapor. We find the 12 volt does just fine for us when a unit is well broke in.

Puff
I'll get with you via Email.

Holy cows, I slept til after 7 this morning, Have not done that in a long long time. Haven't even had any turkey yet either.

Thanks Rick. Yeah, I don't plan to use the higher votlage all of the time. I just ordered an adjustable voltage power supply with both 12 and 13.5v. It will run on 12v the vast majority of the time.

Got a link to that variable transformer?

We will be anxious to hear how that variable transformer works for you Reese. Coming from Hong Kong it looks like. Nice to have the different plug selection on the variable. The others I checked out (above) do have the wrong plug. The correct plug is 5.5 x 2.1 mm female. Yes, it is female even though it looks male, as the male organ on these plugs actually has a little hole in it for the real male(plug) to penetrate.

geeeees, WTF Zapman, so close to the holidays and there you go with that male/female/penetration stuff.

I know it's a gamble but nothing ventured and all that. Hopefully it is a quality product. The other one I found isn't sold in the states.

Update on the 13.5 volt transformers. We received them and they have the correct plug. We have them priced much more reasonably now, $10 with an order or $15 by itself. We will also pass on the place we got them if that will work better.
When they got here we plugged them into a couple well seasoned Myrtles. We did not like the heavier vapor as it was harsher and thicker. In our opinion the 12 volt does just fine but we realize others have different tastes.
Also, not sure what was last said but we are at least a week out again. We got close to caught up last week but that went away quickly over the Thanksgiving holiday. It is good to stay busy when you get older. Keeps you moving................................

I've tried a 13.5 on my ZAP too. My experience is similar to Rick's - didn't like the harsher, thicker vapor.

Even when smoking (which I rarely do anymore), I'm a little hit kinda' guy. I guess for those looking for massive hits, the 13.5 would be a good thing... but for me, the standard 12 volt transformer works best.

Truthfully, I've only used the 12v once. I really like the hits I get with the 13.5v transformer. I've even tried using it with a beer insulator and that was probably overkill for me.

I love the huge hits my 13.5 gets me! i use the 12v when im diffusing oils but when i wana get vaked, i always reach for my 13.5! its nice because i can get 2-3 nice big rips with only 30sec intervals of warmup time.

Is it just me or does anybody else do this when they wana get really stoned:

ill vape 2 bowls and then take some good bud and put it in a bowl with the vaped bud and then smoke that... am i alone on this?

I've thought about it, but I'm trying to limit combustion now. Curious, what's it like smoking vaped bud only? Does it taste horrible, or better yet, does it get you stoned?

Ive really tried to avoid the combustion aspect as well, however I did smoke a vaked bowl once and it was rather harsh and nasty. (And this is my kind bud collection that normally tastes delish)

I cant say whether it got me zooted or not cause it was so horrible I dumped it after that one hit.

I Believe a buddy of mine saves (and possibly) sells or gives his duff away.
Ill ask him as he is a more seasoned vaporist than me.

I don't have a Zap (yet) but on the subject of combusting, I have combusted only by mistake with my Vapor Genie, in the past 2 months, and every time I do, I have to say it does seem to get me higher faster, but at what expense? It makes me cough and even if I use a water pipe, it seems to have a much worse impact on my lungs and throat.

I much prefer to get a nice light-but-big vapor hit than to combust. I'm saving all my ABV for making a tincture out of it when I get a substantial quantity. Since I'm relatively new to vaporizing and not a heavy hitter, I only have a very small jar so far.

We smoked a joint of ABV , it was not too bad . I could do it again if given no other option .

combusting in a vape is god awful, nothing like a bowl or pipe
Yeah. Why is that? I mean, it's still combusting... why does it get that burnt popcorn flavor?

Been using mine for almost a week . I also got the 13.5v adapter (thanks again Rick) and like it a little better than the 12.5v one. Im still getting the hang of it but am in love with this beauty :p.

I think it's because you get used to the heat quickly with a burn-pipe, so you don't notice it after a while. With a vape-burn its just WHAM, immediate death-in-coughing-form. Also, when you truly scorch it the entire bowl goes up, so that might feel a bit more dramatic than just taking a burn-pipe hit as well. Who knows.

Like Moe, I'd have to agree that when I actually toast a bowl in my VG or VS, (Think lightly burning a piece of toast; a little black but the rest is TOTALLY brown and tasty), i get absolutely insta-stoned, as I like to put it. This is actually why I love the VG and the VS so much; I like true vaping as much as the next guy, but I also like "vaping on the edge", and getting all those tasty cb's and cn's up at those higher temps. Hell in small doses I enjoy a BIT of the burnt feeling on occasion as well. With me it's always been about moderation, and actually smoking an entire bowl was too much for me, while taking just one smoke-hit was obviously not enough. Getting a few tasty vapor-hits and finishing off with a toasty, dome-busting hit is part of the reason I've been getting along with my VG so well :ko:
