What's making you happy right now?

Earlier this week, I turned in a punch card at a dispensary with 12 stamps to earn a free quarter ounce. I was so psyched to have a free big bag of MMJ, and it's really nice Girl Scout Cookies too, not at all the bottom of the barrel.

Last night at around 8:30 (which is officially too late to call our home unless you've got either really good or really bad news), the phone rings. It's that dispensary, and I cannot figure out any reason they should have to call me, but I actually answer the phone because that just seemed really odd.

Turns out that the punch cards that are turned in each week are put into a drawing for a free half ounce and I'm the lucky guy that won! So that puts me at 21 free grams for the week from this place, and it's the place with $6 grams ($21/eighth) that are as good as any $10 or even $12 top shelf stuff.

So that's a real fun thing to make me happy for this week. After my metalsmithing class tomorrow, I'll head over there for their pre-4/20 patient appreciation barbecue and pick up my fat free sack!

I think the magical butter machine is going to get its first use tonight.

But I like it!
I'm happily vaped! Loaded HI with herb/kief/herb and doing dandy. Tried loading Vman like that yesterday, and when it flipped on side to heat I was wondering if any of it spilled into areas it wasn't supposed to get into. But it got hot, and it seemed to work like usual, and a few seconds later it wasn't really all that important any more...

So this morning I'm thinking of ways to help a friend. We had a good chat last night. He has a bunch of issues - Ankylosing Spondylitis, compression of Cspine, osteoarthritis in knees, and Crohn's. He's sick and tired of pills and wants to know if I can help him try MM. I started my own MM journey about 2 years ago now, and seriously after the hospitalizations due to med allergies last year. I didn't know about FC or many other resources out there when I got started, so I'm really happy to be able to put some of the stuff I've learned to help another person with a need and a strong interest.

Arthritis and chronic pain I know. AS and Crohns not so much. If anyone has helpful info and/or pointers for these diseases we would be all ears. I'm searching as well, but anything anyone can share would be most useful as well.

Cheerio, and happy Saturday wherever you may be. Shatterday? Sugar Shack Budder here :)

@Snappo I can't wait to walk to the mailbox tomorrow morning and see if there really is something waiting for me down in the box!

It's almost embarrassing to talk about stuff like winning a half ounce of free cannabis from a medical marijiana dispensary in a recreational legal state because they drew my punch card for my free quarter ounce out of the goldfish bowl for the weekly drawing

, but I like to think that it might just be my place to be an evangelist to share the good news of what I believe is to come for everyone else in the not too distant future.

And back to the point: there is something better than free weed that is making me happy right now. I finished my fine metal smithing class yesterday, have the basic tools and equipment I need to set up my home studio, and the confidence to finally begin showing off some of the work I've been doing over the past few months to bring some really neat new vaping accessories to the community. We've got artisans working in glass and wood, and elecrical gizmos, but I'm hoping that there might be a little room for accessories and gear made using locally sourced sustainable resources and fine metals. Starting tomorrow, I'll be working on turning my working prototypes into pieces for production. I'm so very excited to have this new set of skills that I believe could make a positive impact of this community, as well as possibly help my friends with medical needs to more effectivly, or easily, or pleasantly use their medication. If you are reading this and have ever thought "I wish I had a little tool shaped like ________ that I could use for ___________ with my __________ vaporizer", I'd love to hear what you want and see if I can make something beautiful to make your vaping ritual easier and more pleasant.

Here are my first two completed pieces from the class: a silver lapis pendant for my wife and a "gardening wedding ring" for myself which is a half size larger for easy hand washing when fingers swell from tool use, activity, or summer heat. It has a light and slightly irregular hand hammered finish intended to hide any scratches, dings, or other damage that is sure to come when I work my community garden plots this summer. Her pendant has some flaws that are not worth excessive work to fix (slightly ragged edge from having to remove and reset the stone a second time), as you can only polish a turd to be so shiny, and I made a few student mistakes that were necessary learning opportunities to help me understand how to make the metal work for me instead of against me.

Becoming a Grandpa for the first time. I love my wife and kids more than I can say and have from day 1 but I never thought anything would fill my heart like that again. Ever seen that Grinch cartoon where at the end his heart expands like a big ol' balloon - the Grinch's heart ain't nuttin in comparison!

Every time I walk into the room no matter what my daughter is up to she drops it and races me to my chair... Cracks me up..

@Enchantre Good job. ;) As long as you are trying to lose weight. I misread your other post at first I thought you were down to 100 lbs. I was worried..

It amazed me at how many people really Really REALLY need MMJ here, I have pain and I don't sleep without it but I guess my time is coming soon enough.. ;)

@Enchantre wow! Congrats! Well done!

You're now my second friend who I only know as the "after" photo.

I credit MMJ for and the good food of Washington state for helping me get back down to my normal weight.

I'm just happy to have had a great unexpected afternoon with my sweet wife. She surprised me by leaving work early and taking me out to the pub for lunch. Fish and chips and a Roy Rogers.

Then we came home, got vaped, and took a nap.

I was particularly amused today when my wife told me that not only am I the only adult she ever sees in public with a blue sour candy stained tongue, but that she sees me like this more often than any sugar crazed child she ever known, even in the weeks following Halloween.

Just goes to show how much I care about how strangers might judge me for the color of my tongue. I think the two things I've learned since becoming disabled is patience and an incredible ability to not give a fuck about things that don't matter.
